KitchenAid Expandable Stainless Steel Colander, Black

This strainer is GREAT! I have tried different kinds and enjoy the different ways it can be used--draining fruit, washing vegetables and safely letting the hot water drain from pastas. It fits well on our sink (glad it is expandable) and is very sturdy. I feel like it is safer than my old ones in which I had to hold onto the round strainer or the half moon plastic one and the silicone clip-on kind did not work well at all). There are protection bars on the straining part to give it strength and the ability for it to fit into your sink and not just across it. Good price and excellent product!

This design does not allow food to get stuck between the wire mesh and the metal frame. It has a strong frame and much more safe to use. I am very pleased with this design and product. It is easy to wash by hand using a sink sprayer but it also fits well in the top rack of my dishwasher so it is out of the way of any dishes or pans in the bottom rack. The side handles are easy to pull in and out and fits across the sink without slipping. I like that the frame continues under the mesh wire so it is lifted above the sink surface if you do not use the side handles. Overall, the design is a great improvement and is much stronger and safer to use. I believe that the quality of this product is worth the purchase.

I had reservations because of the mesh. Years ago I had a mesh one and the pasta constantly got stuck and I'd have to scrub the thing. This one, nothing gets stuck. Two thumbs up!

I love this strainer. The over the sink design is super easy and useful. The sift part it perfect for straining noodle or cleaning rice. It is a great size. I could see a larger one being useful, but it is the perfect size for 1-2 people. I got this on sale and it was very worth it. It has been durable and provided plenty of functionality. The color is a stainless steel net. It isn't too deep and the net isn't too thick, but is enough to hold the shape with little to no bending

So far so good. I love that it extends across the sink and it’s very sturdy. It’s a bit heavy and cumbersome to clean, but I’m happy with it. It’s very sturdy and well made, and is a generous size. It solves the problem with drain water coming up through other stand up strainers. I’d definitely recommend it.

This colander easily holds a pound of sliced mushrooms. The expanding handles let it easily adjust to the size of your sink and then collapse for easy storage. The frame is sturdy and stands up without wobbling.

This was a great gift when we received it some years ago. The sliding arms let you position it over your sink and easily drain your pasta or veggies or whatever. Cleans up easily, stores handily with the sliding arms retracted. Sadly, I didn’t read the directions that came with it and lazily placed it in the dishwasher. Turns out the metal in the sliding arms (not the mesh) isn’t dishwasher safe. Alas, our lovely little gift was ruined. ☹️ Quick, search Amazon! Tah-dah! OXO still makes the same sieve basket. Click, and we’re back in business.
