PD1000 model Works fine, great drive. But! Yes there is a small 'but'.
Works fine, great drive. But! Yes there is a 'but'. Its definitely intended for USB 3.2 speeds. It also works with the included adapter for USB 2.x, but for anywhere close to USB 3.2 'speeds' you need actual USB 3.2. At USB 2.x it works with the included adapter and its slower of course but unless its something really big its not that bad at 2.X use. I use it for both 3.2. and 2.X systems for transferring work files until we swap over to all new systems and overall it works fine. Mine is the PD1000 model @ 2GB. I like the case and style and size, its very durable. The case is all aluminum, the included cable and adapter and the drive quality and workmanship is excellent. I'll probably be purchasing a few more for use at home too.

Fast, durable mass storage
This TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive measures 4.21" x 1.57" x 0.43" and weighs 6.7 ounces. This TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive is IP68 rated against dust and water resistance, it can withstand up to 3527 pounds of pressure, and offers military-grade drop resistance against drops of up to 4 feet. I opted for the 2-TB capacity and was very pleased to see this drive used USB 3.2 2nd Gen protocol that allows me to read and write data at up to 1000MB/s and 900MB/s respectively. I use this drive to back up my Alienware Laptop and store some games. Read and write speeds are exceptional. Additionally, I have found carrying this drive around is convenient because it's lightweight, is protected against most of the mishaps that can occur while in transit, and offers the capacity to be exceptionally useful. What I liked most about this TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive was: - Durability. I love knowing this drive is not going to be harmed by a splash of water or is likely to sustain damage from being packed tightly in a backpack. - Speed. Mass storage becomes an item of diminishing returns if it takes too long to read/write data from it. This device uses the fastest protocol currently available to read and write data which makes this a great drive to have on hand. - Portability. This drive only adds 7 ounces to my total carry weight and has an exceptionally small footprint. I can safely store it inside the pocket of a backpack or a very slim carrying case without having to triage anything else I might need to carry. What I liked least about this TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive was: - Price. This is a very good drive and you pay a premium for it. A good deal for premium mass external storage is around 100 dollars per terabit of storage but this drive is a bit pricier than that. I find it to be well worth the price but it's worth mentioning. Overall, if you need rapid, rugged mass external storage this TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive offers a hard-to-beat product. This TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive is fast, durable, reliable, and resistant to many of the hazards one might encounter during a commute. I do wish this TEAMGROUP PD1000 2TB Aluminum Portable External Solid State Drive was around 20 to 25 dollars cheaper but this drive is worth every penny TeamGroup asks for it. 4.5 out of 5.0.

Disconnects itself - useless for backup - +$100 paperweight
Bought it for a backup and file transfer drive. 30 days out of the return period it malfunctions and drops the USB connection every 10 minutes or so. If the computer can't see the drive, it can's use the drive.

Super fast, Maintains transfer speeds, doesn't run too hot, works in various USB ports
I have tested many of these NVMe portable drives at this point in time and this is the first one I have come across that works in all the USB ports I have tried it in with various cables. Yet also has a good transfer speed; this drive maintains its transfer speeds even with large 100GB+ file transfers (outside of standard SSD cache saturation) which to me is pretty impressive because it is passively cooled. Somehow this thing has better performance than my actively cooled NVMe enclosure... After a few months of usage with moving games and other large files around for PC testing; I am thoroughly satisfied with this drive. It lives up to everything it claims and more, which is what I would expect from TEAM as a brand.

Lots of storage - not as fast as I'd expected.
This solid state drive is a nice compact form factor for carrying a lot of data safely. It is as attractive a drive as I've ever seen. The manufacturer claims it is waterproof and shockproof. I wasn't about to test either. It did hold up in day-to-day usage. I plugged it in to my Omen 30L desktop for a couple weeks and tested it out for speed, connectivity and temperature. It never disconnected as I had seen in other reviews and I tested it while moving it a lot - and never lost my connection with my desktop. The drive got quite warm during tests, but I wouldn't call it "hot". The one place I was disappointed was the speed. Transferring large files back and forth to my desktop started out moderately fast, but soon slowed to 15-30 MB/sec.. I am quite comfortable using this drive to carry large files around, but I wouldn't use it to record live video or audio which might require more stable speed.

Don't make this mistake.
I use Teamgroup all the time and have never had an issue until now. This drive is really unusable. Like another reviewer said there is a problem that when you touch the drive it disconnects. The external case is shorting out the drive somehow. It cannot maintain speed at all and drops lower than most mechanical drives. It is just a terribly built drive.

D.O.A. -- bad connector
Great that it's portable, not so great that it couldn't hold connection. I hoped maybe it was just the cable that it came with, but I tried it on both the included cables AND one of my own. With all three of them, the drive would be recognized, but then would disappear, then be recognized again, then disappear once again from the computer. I could only hold a solid connection if I held the cable to the connector in just the right position. Obviously this is not workable. I returned it.
