Vu+ Duo 4K Noir

This may be suitable for some parts of the World but is useless for UK Freesat digital TV. Hopefully get money back or exchange for something suitable

My wife and I do not watch a lot of TV so I wanted to end our sky subscription and I was a disappointed by the review of freesat boxes available. So, I am not the typical user for this kind of box, I do not have a multi satellite setup (yet) and I just wanted a good experience with the FTA channels on 28.2E, with being able to stream recordings/broadcast to all the TVs in my home, preferably with the ability for each TV to watch independently regardless what was being played on any of the other TVs. So after some research I figured that the Enigma2 linux boxes was the best the bet and with my current dish and lnbs the twin FBC tuners would allow me to access 8 channels at once, overkill but the ability to be able to have all TVs working independently and being able to record multiple channels too seemed like a great idea. The box came, I fitted a 4Tb HDD, very easily, plugged in the network cable and flashed the box with a distribution called openVIX (because it seemed popular for UK use) and got the box up and running using autobouquetmaker to get all the FTA channels for Sky UK, Freesat, and SKY ROI, I then set up a few custom bouquets (collections of channels) mainly to make things easier to use for my wife, set up kodi on the TVs around the house and it all works perfectly. Given that this only came to about £100 more than the most expensive 4K freesat box (only 2Tb) and the functionality is far far superior, I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Great piece of kit, but the flaw is in the software for me personally, openvix in this instance. This item was working absolutely fine until I downloaded and installed a plugin, namely a "skinpk" after which the box continually tries to boot up to the point where it collapses and then tries to reboot once more. If it was still possible to boot from a USB stick there would not be a problem, but the OpenVix latest only allows boot up from a selection in the setup menu, and as it never reaches this point it is useless to the average user. Why is this software available to be downloaded if it causes such problems?

VU+ Duo 4k SE,Very fast Tuner with Dual S2X FBC Twin Tuner,Fast start up with excellent picture Quality and a very well thought out remote control.This can record multiple channels at once,(maybe up to 8 simultaneously) and you can also add an 2.5 inch internal SATA hard drive/SSD or just use a USB memory stick for recording. Wifi and Bluetooth are also built in. You tube worked perfectly for me too. I added an extra VU+ Dual DVB-T2 Tuner into the second free slot and this works very well receiving Saorview/Astra 2 Satelite channels here in Ireland.(using Open ATV 6.5 OS) Original software updates can be found on the manufacturer (VUPLUS) website under Repository. I only found this out much later as my one had very early experimental software installed.Although this worked perfectly fine. I changed from the factory default software tand installed OPEN ATV 6.5 which worked very well for me. Engima (third party) operating systems designed specially for this Tuner can be found online for free. eg open vix,open atv,open pli,and many more, and can be downloaded from the internet and installed easily using a usb memory stick. Search online for receiver flashing guides if you wish to find more information regarding this. The original software can be reinstalled back at any time again using USB memory stick. A very expensive Tuner but a high Quailty one which works very well.

Meine in die Jahre gekommene Dreambox HD7020, die mir immer gute Dienste geleistet hat, musste leider ersetzt werden. Nach langem Recherchieren und vielem Durchlesen in verschiedenen Foren, bin ich schlussendlich bei der VU+ Duo 4K SE hängen geblieben. Die schiere Menge an Feintuning-Möglichkeiten, mit dem entsprechenden Image, hat mich irgendwie gereizt. Es gibt aber viel zu lesen um sich in die Materie einzuarbeiten. Nix für Leute, die sich scheuen, irgendeine Gebrauchsanweisung in die Finger zu nehmen und von vorne bis hinten durchzulesen. !! Achtung, wie schon in anderen Rezensionen erwähnt wurde, sollten Anfänger lieber die Finger davon lassen. Das Potenzial dieser Box schlummert in den Tiefen, aber es lohnt sich bestimmt wenn man einmal den Durchblick bis hat :-) Für die eigenen Vorlieben oder Geschmäcker ist bestimmt was dabei (ich persönlich bin noch am experimentieren und lerne noch immer dazu). Ich bin überzeugt, am Ende wird es sich aber lohnen.
