This is a great deal, is the original hat from the movie, I am very satisfied. Quality is top notch. Fits better in small heads.

Nice but had to return it

I had the talking sorting hat, but wanted a lighter one to suspend from the ceiling. This one was one of the most affordable options and it actually looks pretty good. Its been shoved into storage boxes several times, but has held up well.

This hat is pretty cool. I'm using it for decoration but I'm sure it works well for what is intended for, too. Arrived early and it's pretty big. Looks great!

This worked really well for my daughter's 7 year Harry Potter party. We sorted the kids into the four schools and used this as the sorting hat. There's a pocket inside the hat to place a monitor in, which is what we did. The monitor was a bit heavy, so I had to kind of hold the hat on the head so it wouldn't fall over, but it still worked out well. I placed an old baby monitor in it and my hubby sat in another room watching outside the window naming each kid and sorting them into their schools. The kids loved it. Most of them couldn't figure out how the hat was talking so it was a really big hit! It's a nice, faux suede material, love the details, you can see the mouth and eyes like the sorting hat in the HP movies, it's perfect and at a very reasonable price.

I saw a DIY sorting hat, but the time needed to make it seems a bit extensive compared to the price of this one - I'd rather pay the $20 for convenience Lol The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in is that the mouth part seems a tad small. In the DIY video, she darkened the eyes, mouth & some creases (with paint? I'm not sure), so I might try that with a dark brown eye shadow or something to make those parts more prominent. Also, because it ships flat, the cone part of the hat needs to be reshaped & it tends to want to revert to the flat shipping shape. It's not too bad though. Might take a thick strip of cardboard & bend into a circle to stick inside to help fix the shape.
