Perfect pour over!
I ordered this as I was kinda grossed our by my 13 year old kuerig. I wanted something along the pour over lines so I could still have the same or similar quality of the occasional cuppa. I nailed it with this! Highly recommend for ease of use, portability, storage, and economy. I am typically a tea drinker so I bought the two pack- once for tea and one for coffee. So far I feel very satisfied in creating a perfect cup in either event of use. The coffee is deliciously rich- I can leave it to get stronger if I want (not typical for me as a tea drinker though). It's easy to dump out and rinse. It dries in the dish rack dryer then tucks away in the drawer for later use. Bottom line- I would recommend if you are looking for something easy, compact, and fits on most mugs. I have no trouble recommending this in the future to my friends.

Simple way to make your coffee in the morning.
I love the versatility of this design. I am able to make coffee anywhere without having to lug a machine or replace numerous filters. This is great for also making teas and other hot beverages that need filtering. Easy to clean and re-use when needed. Great product.

Durable, easy to clean, eco-friendly, no waste, perfect for travelers and other things besides coffee!
I love this filter and take it with me everywhere! You can clean this filter innumerably and the mesh is fine enough for fine grounds of coffee, tea, and herbs. I usually don't use soap to clean this - just water, but if you used it to make, say, a garlic 'tea' or something like that - you could use dishwashing liquid to clean this and it will eliminate the smell without affecting the taste of the next thing you brew through it, because it's a completely washable nylon mesh! I got hooked on this method of brewing coffee after having chorreador brewed coffee in Costa Rica (where they have a small wooden stand with a reusable cloth filter hanging from the top where they pour hot water, and then the coffee drips...quickly...through the cloth 'sock' and into a wooden coffee cup sitting on the stand). I have to have my coffee, so if I am traveling anywhere - this is a small, convenient and portable, eco-friendly (one cup at a time equals no waste!) and reusable solution to ensure I can brew myself whatever I want! The 'lip' is wide enough to fit on slightly wider-mouthed mugs as well - bonus! (Read: mugs, not bowls!) If it had a small and thin carrying case and a small attached container for used grounds/herbs, etc, I would definitely give it that extra star! I love to travel, and would love to have a carrying case specifically for this filter and for used grounds.

Easy to use AND easy to clean.
We bought two Brew Buddy single serve mesh filters to try out before considering them as gifts for the coffee drinkers in our life. After using them we have some thoughts: Overall we like them, a lot! These little gems have worked like a dream! The grinds dump right out of them cleanly; there are a few grinds left, but let's be honest, that is the nature of the beast! The Brew Buddy sclean right up with some hot water and detergent. There are no open seams for grinds to get caught in and the dark color of the mesh keeps it from getting that dingy look white mesh tends to get from repeated exposure to coffee. We have not used a lot of flavored coffee in the Brew Buddy, we just don't roll that way, but the mesh hasn't held a coffee aroma at all. We have tried other pour over style coffee setups and they have been decent. But, some of them have (or should I say, had) white mesh and it has taken on a rather stained appearance over time. And some are hard to use with a mega-sized mug. Or they involve a "hard" filter, or a carafe of some sort, or both. All of which can make traveling with them a bit daunting or just not possible. (You know the result of that, right? You're stuck with either a really pricey coffee of whatever passes for coffee where you are, neither of which is ideal!) The way the plastic on the Brew Buddy (AKA little mesh basket of caffeine handiness) is shaped keeps steam dripping back into the cup and not rising out of the sides of the filter to prematurely cool your brew. That is so nice, because, you know, some days you just don't get to brew and consume. Some days life intervenes. With the Brew Buddy you can buy a few more minutes of nice hot coffee without a reheat (it's never as good that way) or suffering the lukewarm coffee experience. The Brew Buddy also stores pretty flat so it's easy to transport. I would suggest a plastic zip top bag to carry it in. You can count on a great coffee experience pretty much anywhere with these. Just pack some of your favorite ground bean or tea (it works marvelously for loose tea, too!!!) in a travel container, along with the Brew Buddy and you're all set to meet adventure with properly caffeinated confidence! The diameter of the Brew Buddy allows it to be used on just about any diameter mug, you would have to have and extraordinarily wide mug for these not to work for you. It's perfect for just about any size mug, short, tall, wide or narrow. Your coffee pleasure shouldn't be limited by the mug you're handed, no matter where you're imbibing! I think the coffee drinkers on our gift list will be finding one of these in their presents!

Love it! Perfect for backpacking but also great at home.
Love this! I picked one up before going on a three week trip to New Zealand that included a number of nights in camping huts and hostels. I usually use a french press but tried the Brew Buddy in order to save weight and space. It is just so easy to use, clean and makes a great cup of coffee. I used both as described by putting it over the cup I would drink out of but also used it by steeping the coffee in a separate container then using the Brew Buddy to filter out the grounds into a coffee mug. Many of the hostels had instant hot water in their kitchens which meant a hot cup of coffee in under five minutes. I now often use this at home when I want just a single cup/mug of coffee. You will need to experiment a bit to figure out the best mix of amount of grounds and time to match your tastes but that's the same with any coffee maker. A few things to be aware of, none of which reduce the rating in my opinion: You need to fill your cup/mug all the way up with hot water. If you have a twelve ounce mug, you can't make just eight ounces since the filter bag won't hang down into the water. Also if you want to make a large amount - say 16 to 20+ ounces, using a wide & short container like a pyrex measuring glass works better than a tall & thin travel mug. Finally, a clear cup/mug makes pouring the right amount of water easier to see but it was really no problem to fill the water in several pours and check the level between each one. And these are so inexpensive I had bought two of them. That ended up being a smart move since I left one behind at a hut on the way to Milford Sound. I hope whoever picked it up realized how useful it is for the rest of their hike.

Clean coffee!
I have never really felt compelled to leave a review before but this thing works so well! I have -2 counter space in my small rental and no coffee machine or french press or whatever else you can use to make coffee. I have a small pot and a metal tea steeper. As fine as the mesh was it still let so much through into my mug. This brew buddy? It doesnt let a single MOLECULE of the coffee grounds get into the mug. It takes up less space than my tea steeper AND does the job so much better. Ill probably start using it for tea now too. This thing is amazing although a little ugly but thats not really important. I can see just how useful this will be for those who travel a lot and dont trust used machines or for those who camp. It is certainly VERY useful for those like me who just dont have the space for any equipment outside of the absolute mandatory to cook and eat with.

Love these. I grind my own exotic beans (movement coffee from Panama) and this thing is most handy. Easy to turn out and clean too. All round winner.

Great pour-over solution for camping
We love these as our RV coffee solution. We set one atop our mugs and get great coffee. I like that the seams were thoughtfully done so grounds can’t get stuck; a simple inversion of the mesh releases all but the finest grains. Since we got a set of two, I can make us both a cup of coffee at the same time. We use one heaping scoop of grounds in each, pour hot water over them in a few passes, let them steep for about five minutes with the baskets in the cups. Super easy set up and you get great tasting coffee. Since the mesh is not paper, you’ll get the coffee oils in your cup so we find one eight ounce cup of joe is perfect for each of us. I try not to let the water boil as that is too hot for coffee, but our modest timing/system seems to work great for us. They rinse clean quickly and so far we have zero problems or issues with them. Love these!

Easy and fast, great cup of coffee
This is one of the best things I've ever bought on amazon.ca. I initially bought this to quickly steep green tea for my husband instead of using a tea ball but I quickly found out (after giving away my bonmac coffee dripper to someone else who loved it) that this is great for brewing coffee grounds, too. If a traditional pour-over produces a 5/5 flavoured cup of coffee, this Buddy (at less cost, effort and waste) will give you a 4/5 cup. It will not filter out some of the sediment and oils that a dripper system with a filter does. But your coffee still tastes great and in lickety split time. Just measure in your grounds and pour water. That's it. Almost as fast a making a cup of (shudder) instant. This quick method also means that your coffee is hotter than with a traditional pour-over set up (which you have to drink almost as soon as you make or it goes cold). As a busy mom, I really appreciate how fast I can get a good cup of coffee in the morning when I need one, without any extra fuss, expense and waste. My husband and I use this on mornings when we want coffee but not a whole pot. I'm surprised at how sturdy and strong the filter fabric portion of this Buddy is. It is holding up to regular use (several times a week, sometimes daily, for over a year now) and hand washing (we air dry in our dish drainer). Another reviewer mentioned letting the wet coffee grounds dry out over another cup to make emptying the dried out grounds into the bin easy, so we often do that. This would be super for making a decent cup of coffee at the office. We also use it for green tea and don't notice any transfer of coffee flavour so, to me, it means the Buddy washes cleanly. If time is against you often or you wake up tired or don't want to spend a lot on fancy dripper systems or coffee machines, I would definitely recommend getting this. It's simple and it works. The bonus is that it is inexpensive. Before motherhood, I would have turned up my nose at using something like this (it's plastic, the horror) but life changes. Now, I wouldn't necessarily use this to brew expensive gourmet coffee: I would at least put a paper filter in first. Or buy another bonmac dripper for that :-) And a goose-neck kettle. In the meatime, this is perfect with normal, store-bought grounds or beans and for tea people, it should be fine for loose-leaf brewing.

Amazing for travel or home
I've been using these for 2 years. They're absolutely PERFECT for travelling because of how flat they pack. They fit every cup I've tried them in and no filters to fuss with. They clean up super easy and I like the control over the strength of brew. I've started giving them to friends for their trips. Highly recommend!
