From Dusk Till Dawn BD

Good film

Great film- basically two films in one, the first half completely Tarantino, similar vibe to Reservoir Dogs with two criminals on the run from the police, and then the second half turns into Bat-crazy vampire movie. All ver entertaining and the blu ray is a good steppe from the DVD in both picture and sound.

The Bluray is excellent quality. Mint picture, colour, excellent sound (plays a big part in your enjoyment), good optional subtitles. Extras not seen (or heard) by me. Not sure what to write about this film. 20 years ago I probably would have avoided it like the plague. It is is ultra violent, brutal even, unpleasant in the callous way our two heroes kill and rape, multi use of the "f" word, and finally, copious amounts of ghastly gore. Now, with a glass of wine and halfway through 2021, I enjoyed it. My wife, not so much...her comment..."It was very well made, but a bit long"! and that's a fair sum up. Let's add in scene stealing performence from Mr Keitel (as usual), powerful convincing nastiness from Clooney (who would have thought???) and Tarantino as his psycho brother (really VERY convincing). Add to the mix Juliette Lewis a a teenager rapidly growing up, Salma Hayak as an incredible "dancer", a cast of very familiar bad guys and to end it all...a hell (literally) of a lot lot of really bad ......? The final scene as the end titles roll is mind boggling. Yes, too long, and perhaps neither fish nor fowl, but still a foul mouthed violent ride to hell. Not for the faint hearted (at all).

Absolute Classic. George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino are The Gecko Brothers on the run from the texas police and kidnap Harvey Keitel and his family to use their motor home to pass the mexico border and meet with their contact at the biker titty twister bar. Complete unaware that have walked into a night of battling vampires. This film has good action scenes and plenty of laughs, well for me anyways lol. The film includes makeup legend Tom Savani as “ Sex machine” and Danny Trejho. Awesome film, came on time.

5 stars for From Duck Till Dawn, of course. A splendid Tarantino vampire-festival to make ut a classic and fun romp into the dark side. As for the other two? OK for a rainy afternoon with nothing else to do, I guess. They're all right, but how could the original be improved upon anyway? All in all, I am glad to have all three films in my collection but will probably watch number 1 more often than the others.

I'll give it 5 stars because there is nothing actually wrong with the disc but this is Region B locked even though it is a Paramount release which are usually region free. I get the feeling it is Paramount releasing someone else's disc and not them making it themselves as I have bought other Paramount releases on Amazon UK and they play fine here. Don't buy if you just have a region A player and think it will work because it is a Paramount release.
