The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still is a 48% ABV single malt whisky inspired by our Founder's Original illicitly distilled whisky. The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still tells the story of how George Smith illegally distilled his whisky in hand-crafted, small copper stills in a hidden bothy located in the remote Glenlivet Valley. He smuggled his whisky across the Scottish Highlands in order to avoid the excisemen and subsequently created the iconic Scotch that's loved the world over. Smith's whisky reshaped conventions at the time and is the origin of Speyside's signature fruity and floral style. Inspired by this distinctive style, this limited edition pays homage to where it all began. The Glenlivet's iconic fruity and floral style is intensified in the new limited-edition Scotch that is characterised by tropical and sweet notes whilst having an exceptionally long and smooth finish. Founded by George Smith, The Glenlivet has been crafted in the remote Livet Valley in the heart of Scotland's Speyside region since 1824. He founded the first legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet. At the start of the 20th century, The Glenlivet became the favourite whisky for enthusiasts throughout the British Empire. Following the end of Prohibition in the United States, its reputation grew in America, quickly becoming renowned worldwide as the original Speyside single malt, a position it continues to enjoy today.
