Penn Battalion Inshore Spinning Rods

This rod is just what I was looking for !!! It’s very smooth with great action for fishing the reefs catching the big sheepshead!!!! It’s a great rod .

I’ve been through my fair share of inshore rods over the years, and the Penn Battalion II stands out as one of the best. It strikes that perfect balance between lightweight feel, strength, and sensitivity, making it a go-to for just about any inshore setup. Right away, you can tell this rod is built for performance. The carbon fiber blank keeps it incredibly light in hand while still giving you the backbone to handle tough fights. Whether I’m throwing artificials for speckled trout or wrestling redfish out of the grass, the sensitivity is spot on. You feel every little bump, which really helps when working finesse presentations. Casting is smooth and effortless, and the well-placed guides cut down on friction and improve distance. Pair it with a solid reel, and you’ll be launching lures with precision all day. The grip is super comfortable even on long trips, and the overall balance just feels right in hand. Durability-wise, Penn did it right. I fish a lot and this rod has taken some abuse, boat decks, rod holders, even a few unintentional encounters with oyster beds, and it’s held up without any signs of wear. I’ve tried a lot of rods in this price range and this one just has that dialed-in feel. Light but strong, super responsive, and built to last. I’ll probably be picking up another one soon.

I've fished with this rod for more than six months... freshwater and saltwater. I've caught everything from tiny bluegill, to largemouth bass, to redfish, to gafftop, and 30in blacktip sharks from the surf on this rod. ZERO ISSUES. You can place your trust in this rod. I have the 7ft extra heavy fast action rod. I wanted a rod I could catch just about anything on and this has not disappointed. Paired with a Penn Battle III - 6000 reel, I have no complaints.

Good rod but i ordered cork handle but got foam, packaging isnt great either. It comes with 2 pieces of cardboard and plastic ziptied around it inside of a box. I got 7’6 medium heavy for snook fishing

This is a great rod with sensitivity, enough backbone to handle 30” redfish and enough give to use a lighter line for those sudden runs a redfish makes. I ended up buying 3 because I liked them so much.

I own 13 Penn rods and reels and I am very pleased with them. That being said, this particular one is not one of them. I purchased this rod 4 times and every time I received it, at least one of the guides was significantly off centered. After the last time, I reached out to Penn to see if there was anything that they would/could do because I really wanted this rod. I was instructed to fill out a warranty claim so I did. Never received a response. Reached out to Penn several times and they never returned my calls or responded to my emails. Very poor customer service. I’ve spent a lot of my hard earned money on their products and they clearly have no appreciation for their customers.

These rods have held up for handling puppy drum up to 34 inches so far and are lightweight paired with 3500 Penn slammer or spinfisher reel

Using the 15-30 for striped bass, love it so much I've ordered a spare one !
