Very nice meter.
Like the versatility and the features. Work light, noncontact AC power detector plus the other add on functions. The auto power off saves batteries and the batteries are cheaper to replace being AA rather than 9V. This is my second one of these meters. Used the first one for roughly a couple of years. First one got wet working on a sprinker and quit working. Immediately ordered another. Then took the first one apart to dry it out. Really like how sturdily the insides were build compared to other meters I have disassembled. Got it dried out and rinsed off with electronics cleaner and reassembled, it is back to working. The older one has taken numerous tumbles to concrete and steel and was still running till it got wet.I have 2 complaints about this meter.1. One was in the original write up on the meter. The auto ranging is slow to change ranges so if you are checking a bunch of wires for power or reading resistances there is a several second delay between wires while it ranges each new wire. With one or two wires that is no problem but if you are checking dozens or hundreds it would be way nicer if it ranged faster. Get very frustrated with the wait each time.2. Don't know about this meter but it looks identical to the original one and is the same model and the originals test leads were failing. Had a crack in the insulation in one lead and both leads there cracking at the strain relief to the probe. And this in only 2 years of moderate but fairly rough service use. Suggest plan on getting better replacement leads to put with it.While better water proofing would have been nice I truly do not think I can fairly expect it at this price point. Dreaming anyway. :) Overall for the price point I have been very happy with the old meter and expect that same of the duplicate new one

Great deal for students, DIYers and even some pros
Back in the mid 90s while I was in college, I got my first DMM at Radio Shack for $60. It has no auto turn-off and uses 6 AA batteries :[. I have used some fancy and cheap DMMs (Fluke, BK Precision, and low cost one from Harbor Freight) at work for over 20 years. I was surprised to see there were low cost DMMs with many new features on Amazon. So I tried TRMS 6000 for $30.Cool features: Red color (easy to find); backlight (handy working in the dark); AC and DC auto detection (no worry to select correct type of power when measuring current/voltage); No need to press FUNC button to switch to continuity check; Green LED indicators. Not good enough: Only one decimal in measuring Ohm (need 2 decimal points in my line of work, EE); NCV Live was triggered when moving my hand over the sensor at the top and caused confusing.Comparing voltage measuring against other DMMs at work and found almost identical. I measured a 9V battery using BK Precision DMM and this DMM. BK Precision showed 9.096V (3 decimal points). This one showed 9.09V (2 decimal points).I have not use all its features yet. I will update when I see other pro and con. For the price I paid, this is really cool DMM.Note:If you want something smaller (with a bit less features) for easier to carry around , go for TRMS 4000.I found KAIWEETS has almost identical DMMs as AstroAI's (4000 and 6000 models) in black color. Just wonder if they were all made by the same mfr and sold to 2 different vendors.

Shockingly good!
Works perfect! If you need to check electrical items or a battery this works very well. Helped me figure out the health of my 12 volt batteries before and after charging. Must have if you deal with batteries.

Display Faulted, company sent a replacement outside warranty period
The display lost a line or two but I received a replacement. It's not a bad multimeter, with the exception of the poor leads which leads to a scratchy continuity test. If you get a pair of silicone leads you have a nice inexpensive multimeter.

Great features for the money
Likes:1-Built in probe holders, makes use as a field instrument safer, one probe can be attached to the meter, the other in hand to make checks.2-Dual display ie. AC volts an Hz3-Boldness of display, the segments for the numbers are "thick and crisp"4- Quick responding "bar graph" Even though I use analog meters also, this bargraph display is pretty good, and appears to react quicker than my VC99.5-6000 counts display, at the price point offered this is a good value, I have found 6000 counts to be far better for me than 4000 or 2000 count DMMs that I own.6- Accuracy, I am impressed with both of my AstroAI 6000 DMM's specifically on VDC.. I have a reference standard and the photo shows these "babies" are right on the money.7- The meterface backlight is good and the lighting is relatively even.8- I see having the built in flashlight can be a real handy "field feature"Features I am indifferent to:1- When the range is selected, the correct "jacks" (to plug into) light up, I guess it is a safety feature, I consider it a gimmick.. it is cute though.2-NCV, (non contact voltage) most of the newer DMM's feature this.. could be handy I guess.. I'm just not willing to trust NCV yet..Dislikes / shortcomings1- When trying to measure HZ (frequency) I used 120VAC supply it worked well and was quite accurate, however when I use a frequency generator @ around 1 VAC this meter does not see the frequency. In contrast my AstroAI WH5000A (currently named DM6000AR) does indicate frequency at these low volts.Summary: This AstroAI M6KOR is a great buy, I still like my AstroAI W5000A for it's larger display, but the addition of dual display and bargraph are useful to me. The M6KOR in my opinion is a better field use meter.

Easy and fast to use selection dial.
I needed a meter that would read capacitance and this one looked like the best choice. I like it. The way you choose difference setting is fast and easy to get to. No manual needed really. I saw a minor complaint in another review that the autoranging feature was a little slow. Maybe that's true if you need to check many components but it just takes about 1-2 seconds for the meter to stabilize and that's fine for me. I checked several difference capacitors and the meter gave readings that were well within the marked values they had. I don't have a way to know if it was the capacitors that were not exactly perfect of the meter but checking different capacitors with the same markings came back with almost exactly the same reading so it was consistent. I only checked on 3.9K ohm resistor and it was extremely close. AC voltage from a wall plug showed 120. something volts and the frequency varied from 59.99 to 60.00 hz. The non contact tip on the top of the meter does have to be pretty close to the line to find it. I guess you want it to be a little picky or you wouldn't know if your targe wire was live when there were several others around it like in a breaker box. I used to have a lower end Fluke meter I used on motorcycles and ATVs at work until it got destroyed. This Astro meter will do all I need for a fraction of the cost and I could replace it several times if something happened to it.

Solid multimeter with extra settings for specific tasks that a simple normal multimeter
Performs very well so far. Excellent and solid good multimeter, especially testing the wiring on the HVAC unit.

a lot to love
My last DMM had 30 switch positions. I had to look closely to set it. I might have to set it repeatedly before the display showed that all the contacts had closed. I bought the Astro for the mechanical simplicity of auto-ranging. According to my voltage standard, the meter is highly accurate. The live-wire detector of my last meter was more reliable than reading AC voltage. The Astro is even better. As long as I turn the selector all the way to the right, a live wire will produce a bright light and a beep. If I press the function button to finish selecting it, a live wire will also cause the display to glow and say LIVE.The Astro's probe covers could prevent shorting with the side of a 20mm probe tip. When I need a whole tip exposed, I put the little cover in my pocket for safekeeping. The rubber jacket has a keyhole slot. Now I hang my meter by the back door, where the leads aren't in the way and I'll notice immediately if the meter isn't where it belongs.Update: Switching the meter on to check DC voltage is so simple that I don't even look. That's why I didn't see the warning light when I tried to check a car battery with the red plug in the 10A jack.Over the years, the meters I've bought have made it increasingly difficult to get to the fuses, and they've been increasingly fussy about fuse specifications. The Astro specifies a common 10A, 250V, 1/4 x 1-1/4" fuse. A 6 x 30mm will fit just as well. Naturally, I chose fast-blow.The rubber jacket came off easily. I didn't have to open the battery compartment. After I removed four screws, the back came off completely free. The circuit was undamaged. To me, ease of fuse replacement is a mark of a quality meter.

Robust instrument med många funktioner
Gummikåpan runt instrumentet skyddar bra. Har inte hunnit använda alla funktioner men verkar komplett.

1.5 Years later, I got a second one to have 2.
Absolutely love this meter, nice and chunky but also not clunky. Works well, and nice large display when monitoring things over longer times. Only negative I have is the annoying beep that you hear if you set it not to turn off automatically which happens every 10ish minutes, but maybe its a good thing since you wont just forget it on.All in all recommend this, have recommended it to friends and also got a second to do dual measurements when needed.
