I do a lot of driving across country and if an "idiot" light comes on you don't know what's going on. Can cause a lot of stress. With this I can launch the application on my iphone, it connects through bluetooth with the reader (that I always leave plugged in the vehicle) and runs a full diagnostic. Knowing that something is minor alleviates the stress of wondering if it is going to die in the middle of the nevada desert or utah desert or in the plains of wyoming. It has detected several issues for me on multiple vehicles over the years and allowed me, in many cases to do the work myself. A brake pedal sensor cost me $21.99 to buy and install myself. The diagnostic charge at a garage was $250 and the work would have been that much more. I had a bunch of dash-lights come on. I used it to tell me what was going on and clear them when it was insignificant. I had all my traction control lights come on, after running it and putting the info in google I was able to determine I just needed to re-seat my gas-cap and eventually replaced it. My Dad was getting ready to go on a big trip, we checked his vehicle-- no dash lights were on, found out the fuel pump relay loop had failed which means the car might not start or the fuel pump won't shut off. He was able to get it in and get it fixed before the trip. Worth it.

Best scanner device on the market, just leave it on your car, and get consistent data every time. Bets the $2000 scanners hands down, and no more having to go to your local auto parts store for a 5 page report of all the items the code my mean. Instead get clear and concise codes, describing the issue, what it means it simple form, and even the average cost of repair for the item or sensor. Works excellent with the app and my android phone. Can also be set-up for multiple vehicles as well, which is very cool. Codes are stored in the app on your phone, so even after you reset the code, there is a precise history, of the date/time/code, each time a code has been pulled. Very cool function as well. There is a PRO version of this app, which does cost money, however I have and use the free version, and its never done me wrong. The PRO version just provides more option and more opportunity then the free version. To each their own.

I’ve had this for a few months. Works fine on my Chevy truck but on the Jeep it will only read codes but will not clear the light when on, always fails to sync. Tech support is a waste of time. They repeat the same thing over and over never trying to deal with the issue that their product does not work as stated. (UPDATE) 4 months in and I can say I wish I had not bought this item. Support still will not grasp the issue. One of the sensors will not connect at all now says it’s not paired to the app and ask to add, then tells you it’s there but will not connect. So if you are interested in wasting money go for it.

The device seems to work. However when you download the app you are immediately asked to sign up for additional services to use all of the features at a cost of $99 per year. I did not see that feature mentioned when I purchased the product from Amazon. More transparency would be appreciated.

I have bought one for everyone in our family. We don't buy new cars. We prefer getting value for our $$. Every once in a while one of the vehicle will have the dash idiot light come on. (As in hey idiot, pay attention, something isn't right.) We've used the FIXD device to find out what it means. Either to reset it (didn't tighten the gas cap enough). Or repair what was wrong (thermostat was failing). Now I know you are saying, "but I can go to a auto parts store and they can tell me what's wrong". True, but why wait for it to open, then drive over and hope someone can help you. When you can find out what's wrong right from your phone in easy to understand terms. Ok, here's the big reasons we got them. 1. We had a car that would throw up a light when the gas cap wasn't tight enough. Took it to the auto parts store and all they could tell us was the numbers corresponded to the fuel system and they could not reset it (liability). We would have to take it to the dealership to have it reset. Off we go. $100 later it is diagnosed and reset. Couple of weeks later again with the light. What now? It's late at night and we're at a friend's place. They had a FIXD. We tried it. Low and behold same error code, but the FIXD app told us the problem and reset the code. It cost less to buy a FIXD than a trip to the dealership to reset the code.
