how waterproof is this? Will it stand up to water color on top? Also what is the drying time? Thx!

The Platimum Carbon ink is very waterproof.  I use it in my fountain pen for sketching and then do watercolor over it when dry.... no problem.  It takes a reasonable time to dry.   I really like this ink!  Nice dark black, and yes, waterproof when dry.

Is this genuine platinum carbon ink? It just seems too goodbfor the price since its $30 everywhere else.

I don’t know as this is my first bottle. But it is waterproof. I wanted it to use with watercolours and this ink is perfect. I haven’t purchased it from anywhere else. The packaging etc seemed genuine

Does this ink feather? 
note: i'm using a stillman & birns alpha sketchbook, which is medium grain and meant for mixed media.

Although I have actually used this ink, in the past, I must say I did not experience any feathering. It most definitely depends on the type of paper you are using.
Unfortunately, there are so many different types available you are going to have to experiment to a small degree.I remember utilizing this ink on watercolor paper, and because this ink is considered "waterproof", ( much more than a lot of other brands), I was able to lay in washes over and on top of the line work, not that long after it was "dry".
A customer reported on a "Jet Pen " blog , that if you use thin ,untreated paper, you could expect feathering and bleedthrough. I happen to use Stillman and Birn Sketchbooks all the time, and love them, and the paper is great.One last note, everyone who ever uses this ink, makes a special note of warning fellow artists about making sure you don't let this ink clog whatever pen you are using.Cleaning the pen is of utmost importance.I would have remiss, had I not stated that. I hoped I helped!!

What is it made of

I saw in a review it actually has carbon “nano-particles” instead of typical dye-based ink.  This is why you may need to clean your pens more often.  It’s BLACKER, but since there are carbon particles it could build up.  That does not stop professionals from using it.  Good luck.
