Couldn’t be happier!
This speaker is amazing! I bought it about 8 months ago, and still has the same awesome sound quality and battery life that it did when I purchased it. The shape seemed a bit weird at first, but now I love it. Now I can jam out while cooking dinner, while riding my bike, while kayaking down the river, or hiking or anything! The bungee cord on the back is incredibly stretchy and durable. The charging time is pretty reasonable, and the speaker is made made out of some pretty tough materials. I have dropped a couple of times and it had zero problems with it. The Bluetooth strength is pretty good, and can go up to about 150 feet with newer phones that have Bluetooth 5, Or 30-50 feet with normal phones. This speaker works well with Apple or Android devices. If you have a smartphone, I highly recommend recommend getting the UE Roll app, it is very easy to use and it has a lot of super useful features. One of my favorite uses of the UE app is that if you lose your speaker, you can turn it on from your phone, crank up some music, and boom, there it is! Anyways some pros and cons: Pros: Very good battery life Small Flat, so it fits into a bag very easily Very good sound quality, especially for the size Very useful app, that adds a lot of functions Cons: Charging port and aux port are hard to get to THE ONLY THING THAT I REALLY HATE ABOUT THIS SPEAKER: it has no ability to play/pause/skip from the speaker, which is really annoying sometimes. The speaker is easy to get dirty So, to sum it up, I highly recommend this product, and if you are waffling between the UE Roll 1 and 2, get the 2, it has better Bluetooth strength and sound quality.

Grab one before they are gone for good.
It's a shame that they don't make this model anymore! I love being able to mount it virtually anywhere. I'm a James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Jason Mraz kinda dude...Counting Crows...that kinda thing and this SHINES!!! The volume is shocking!!! Too loud for most situations at max...so a nice 60% seems to work for me....I bought two and having one strapped to the microwave handle and one on the closet door handle across the room makes a beautiful sound. i live in southern Florida and have a pool. I leave one on my lanai table for drinking and chatting and one in my pool, floating on the surface in the included float...Makes for a great pool party...Then, if we go inside for 15 minutes for a snack, I just grab one...bring the music inside while the pool guests still have their tunes...The tone isn't a thump...though I like the bass...it's more "rich". Punchy, solid vocals with a focus on acoustic and reggae tunes....My wife likes to tweak her EQ in the app to pull out some offending upper mids...But I'm happy with the "standard" eq preset....What I love most is the small size to power ratio...I find myself always taking it with me...from washing dishes, to the shower...even popping on my passenger seat in my old 99 rodeo, cause this sounds better than the factory stereo...I think the ease of throwing it in a bag, or strapping it to a bag strap make me just wanna always have this around. The low latency and long range of this sucker makes it great for movies on the go also. I'm very glad to have scooped on of these up before they are gone for good. I assume the wonderboom is great, but the for factor and the big bungee on this roll 2 makes it tops in my book.

Great for Small outdoor parties or indoor pool spaces.
Recommended!!! I like this speaker because of way it fills a space and the loudness it has for its size. Perfect for small outdoor party. If you get 2 then surround sound is even better. I do recommend buying refurbished as you can get 2 for the price of 1. Floating this in the pool is silly unless you are the only one using the pool and you are not splashing much. Depending on how much you wet the device it will decrease the quality of sound significantly. You’ll need to dry this out to get optimum sound quality again. When dunked in water it sounds garbled until the water has vibrated out of it but don't worry as long as the rubber protector for the ports is fully inserted no harm done. If you are looking for bass then you'll have to pay the price difference and get one of the larger cylinder shaped models... Logitech UE is great for surround sound! Using the App you can pair a couple of these to get the full benefit. I have used this speaker for going on 3 years and it still provides long battery life and good quality sound compared to other speakers of its size. It is great for beach or camping trips. Literally indestructible unless you are trying to damage it using extreme methods. There are plenty of videos of different things that have been done without damaging the UE.

I LOVE this speaker
I LOVE this speaker!! Great sound quality and can get nice and loud. The device playing the music does need to be kind of close (like in the same room) so you might have issues if its floating around a large pool and the phone's way off on the side, but I'm not sure. It's a bit annoying that you can't pause or go to the next song with the controls on the speaker, but it doesn't bother me that much. The app is nice. I've had fun adding friends to be "DJs" so they can take over and I like that it tells me how full the battery is. It has a pretty long battery life, but I always make sure to charge it at the end of the day if I've been using it a lot. Some people have mentioned that the cover for the charging cable doesn't snap closed and that makes them worried about the waterproof of it. Well I did some research and it turns out that the cover doesn't need to be closed! It's still waterproof! That's why they never say anywhere in the product description or instructions to make sure it's closed before getting wet. It does say however that it would be dry before plugging the charging cable in, so the flap is probably there to help keep it dry for charging time, and also to keep sand and other debris out since you wouldn't want that getting jammed into the port.

Great fidelity.
Looking for a waterproof bluetooth speaker, but I had also been looking for a decent external/bluetooth speaker for general use. This had been recommended by NYT (or was it New Yorker, not sure). It was a bit mysterious when I opened the box. No "quick start" or expected manual. I eventually downloaded the app on my iPhone. The USB cord was a bit difficult to insert, a difficult angel. But once I figured it out, I was very pleasantly surprised by the fidelity. I like classical music which works best with speakers that have a good middle range. So, I will be using this at my desk as well as on our boat. Pretty cool looking. I hope it can function well in the heat of the sun. A couple things: The cross on it is actually a + and - which adjusts the volume. Push both together and she tells you the battery charge %. I tried turning it off by pushing the power button on the back, but it didn't turn off, even when I removed the usb power. Perhaps it keeps going as long as there is a bluetooth connection. In any case, the instructions on the app say it will turn off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity. Very nice feature. Too bad the other colors are so expensive on Amazon. But the black is just fine, as long as it doesn't absorb heat. It feels like fabric.

Great sound, meets my needs for an outdoorsy speaker
I've had this for several weeks now and it's great. I used it while walking around town, on a picnic, and in the apartment. Sounds great, looks great, easy to use. I have not tested it with water although I don't plan on going too crazy with it. They tell you it's water resistant to a certain amount but I only plan on getting this as wet as it would if I were caught in the rain or touching it with wet hands pool-side. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced and well rounded bluetooth speaker. Sound is not home stereo loud but it's more than loud enough for what it is intended for. I wouldn't say this has the best 360 degree projection, but I don't know if many speakers do. It sounds best when it's facing you. Although I had it lying flat on a picnic blanket and everyone around it and it sounded great. If you're looking to throw impromptu parties in a large space, then you may want something else. I think this is good for people gathered around an area.

Excellent speaker!
Pros: Loud. Very very loud. I love the form, the small circle is very "bringalongable" it fits in most jacket pockets! The bunjee. At first I was very skeptical of the bunjee cord on the back. However, it is a very solid mounting point. I even use it to mount on my belt if I'm on the move! Water proof! Strap it to the deck of a Kayak and suddenly you have your own party barge! This little guy is a tank. It really is fully water proof, mud proof, it's very drop proof. We have wood floors and it gets dropped every day. No scuffs, nicks, cracks or any change in performance! You can pair them! I got one and my brother (who is a very proficient sound tech) imediately went to Walmart and got one right after hearing the sound quality (which for the size is also excellent). We pair them together every time we hang out and it sounds so good! Cons: The charging port could be easier to use. Needs play pause skip on speaker. Thats all! Overview: The affordability, size, and form factor paired with the ability to daisy chain these little guys together creates a product with excellent value. If you have the money, go for it's older brother the UE Boom. It's even better if that's possible. However if you're planning on taking this with you all the time, even if you have the money, get the Roll 2! It is plenty for any situation I've run into.

Quality sound in a small package
I have been using UE Roll 2 for over a month now. It has been a very satisfying experience. I am more of an IEM user. This is my first and only BT speaker, so keep that in mind when you read the review. Before buying, I was very skeptical about the sound quality of such a small speaker. I initially bought one Roll 2 and tried it. The sound showed some good potential. The loudness was good, the vocals sounded clear, even in tracks where they are buried in the recording. It lacked bass and also had a slight hollowness in the sound. Thankfully, UE Roll app has an EQ, which when adjusted a little, pushed the sound towards my desired frequency response. What made me elated was the dynamics. Dynamic range was pretty good, meaning the loudest and the softest parts of music are well differentiated. The clarity is also very good. Since I was satisfied, I immediately ordered another Roll 2 to pair with it. For about a month now, the pair of Roll 2 speakers has been working as L-R speakers in my room. It is loud enough to fill the room at about 50-60% volume. It is paired with my iPhone, Moto G4+ and my Laptop. I have recently paired them with my Echo Dot. Nothing speaks lazy than commanding Alexa to "play some xyz" and then relax. This has been a great setup for casual, background listening. It is not going to match the experience of a proper speaker system or even a good IEM/Headphone, but that is not the point of buying a 4,000 bluetooth speaker. My usage is limited in scope, so I cannot tell you whether it is water-proof or fills a hall as a party speaker (though others have tested it). What I can tell you is 1) The build quality is good. They are small and light enough to carry anywhere, feel sturdy enough to hook up anywhere without fearing if it would collapse on a fall. 2) The Roll 2 is loud enough for a room, even at half the volume. If you place it in a large hall or an open space, you might need to crank up the volume a bit more. 3) The Bluetooth range is pretty good. I can carry and place it almost anywhere inside my home (on the same floor). "Almost", because it struggles to keep the connection across two rooms on opposite sides of the house (Wi-Fi signal also goes down in this room). But, it does work at 60-65 feet easily. 4) If you are looking for something with good bass quantity, you should skip this. 5) I have not exactly measured the battery life, but it seems to be close to 10 hours or so (at 50% volume). It takes about 3 hours for charging using my Anker charger. 6) If it sounds alright to you out of the box, leave it as-is. This UE Default is very fine for anything that emphasizes vocals. If you listen to different genres, I'd recommend using EQ in the UE Roll app. My settings are 250: +4, 450: +2, 1.5K: +2, 5.2K: 0, 9K: +1. It may or may not be to your liking since this is my preference (at my listening volume). You can set all frequency bands to flat and then start tuning based on how you like what you hear. You can always go back to "The Standard" just in case. 7) One speaker is quite OK. But, I liked this better in a two speaker stereo mode. It would not work quite like big speakers and present great sound stage or anything, but the stereo mode is better than using a single one. If your budget permits it, go for it. While I paired them as L-R speakers using the Double-up feature, there was a brief period where I could not get them to pair again (both speakers would output the same thing, without going into stereo mode). I don't know why, but after a week like that, they once again paired correctly and it has been a smooth ride since. 8) It will play nicely for casual listening. But, I should qualify that statement. I don't listen to Bollywood music (or Tamil film music), Pop, Rap, Dubstep etc., My preferred genres usually have metal or rock in their name, but I do listen to a bit of Jazz, Classical and sometimes, other genres. I don't mind using these speakers for Miles Davis, Alice In Chains, A Perfect Circle, acoustic-heavy Opeth (Damnation) or Massive Attack (as long as you don't mind the low bass quantity). But, I would not dare use it with something like a Dodecahedron or anything busy or complex. But then, that would be asking too much from these little speakers :-)

This is a little GEM!
Love this version of UE portable speaker. Owned it for the past 2 months now. Battery life is amazing. Nice and flat and not the usual, awkward, bulky speaker. Great sound. Could use a little more bass but I realize it's not really meant for that. I do strongly recommend this portable speaker if you want something small, something you can easily hook up and walk around with (I strap it to my belt all the time), and something that you can enjoy just for the fun of it. Work every penny. Plus, UE has never disappointed me with the quality of their products. 5/5 stars.

Excellent value and great quality
Extremely happy with this purchase. Easy to setup and use and looks great. The audio quality is perfect for my townhouse and it's easy to move around the house (I might even buy a second one). Battery life seems quite good as well. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that I'd like to have more granular control over the volume as I often feel like I want something between volume settings. This might even be possible through the app but I haven't dug into it much yet).

Amazing speakers!
This speaker is seriously amazing. I bought it for almost 70% off, so the price for the speaker was unbelievable. The bass, as complained about by some people in the reviews, is hardly discernible. It can be corrected with the app that comes with it. What really stands out is the portability of the speaker, it is extremely handy. It is fully waterproof and it can be hung everywhere. It can be connected very easily. The sound is very good as well, it completely fills up my apartment, although I haven't tested it outdoors yet. The only con I would probably mind is the lack of controls on the speaker to change the songs, as the volume buttons are the only ones on it.

Nice waterproof stylish speaker does a good job of playing sounds for me!
Lots of reviews all over for this thing. Bought it because of WireCutter recommendation which is extremely hard to get, so you can trust it will do what it says. Worst thing: No next/prev/pause buttons. Not sure why they didn't make long-holding "+" and long-holding "-" act as next/prev while listening to music, since the battery check function shows that the buttons can be used for things other than their label. I like to use this in the shower, and the ability to skip tracks in there would be really appreciated. No speakerphone: It's the other downside, but I don't care about this as much as next/prev/pause and unlike those, a speakerphone would take a lot of extra hardware to add. Takes a while to charge but the charge lasts a long time too and it's easy to check the battery level by holding + and - at the same time. Waterproofness is great. Haven't tested it, but bringing it in the shower with me is awesome. Getting it hooked up to both my macbook and iphone was a horrible pain, and switching was just as hard until I figured out the secret trick that isn't mentioned in the booklet: If you have it working with two different devices, but it keeps pairing with the wrong one HOLD DOWN THE BLUETOOTH BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS. It will automatically disconnect from the one it's connected to and look for a DIFFERENT partner. In my case this solved my problem: I hold the button and it switches from laptop to phone. This probably applies to a lot of bluetooth devices, but I wish they had more troubleshooting info in the box, as I was pulling out my hair figuring out this trick that would have taken two lines in the instructions for everyone to know it. Sound is really nice, shockingly heavy bass for the shape, if anything I wish it had a little less bass but ultimately it makes music more enjoyable. Rope seems like a gimmick but +100 for usability. Lets me hang it off my wrist as I bring it in the shower and still have both hands available!
