Will this work with any Shure receiver?

No. Each bodypack model work with different frequencies. You must check the specs of the receiver and find the matching pack.

how do you tell what frequency your receiver has? I have a shure receiver but my bodypack transmitter got damaged so I need to replace it.

You can find the frequency of your receiver by checking the silver sticker on the back side of the unit. The frequency bands are as follows: Discontinued: H8, K12, M15 Current: H9, H10,J10 H8 and H9 are cross compatible with a few frequency groupings.

I bought the headset mic (shure SM31FH) and the transmitters (BLX1=-H9) and still don’t know how it should work:(

Is the blx4 transmitter waterproof?

Haven't had any problems thus far in my (dry) usage, but have seen several reviews that use it in "sweaty" conditions and happened to have hardware failure very quickly..so beware of that!
