Norton's Star Atlas and Reference Handbook

A cheap 2nd hand replacement for my trusty old one currently in storage. Almost perfect condition, arrived in good time and would use this company again. Anyone who is starting to get seriously interested in amateur astronomy should get this book as a second one after a small, basic introduction. It has huge amounts of useful and interesting data and I consider it an observational astronomer's bible. It's star maps are by far the best available IMHO. This book ,in mint condition was delivered was delivered within twenty four hours by a very efficient quality seller.As an amateur astronomer who gets many hours of joy scanning the sky, Norton's Star Atlas and Reference Book is the most informative and detailed book I have read to date,and there have been many,and written by top names in astronomy and sky gazing.This book ranks with the best and is a very worthy investment.Only sorry that I did not purchase earlier.

This book really is superb value at £3.77. Unbelievable value for a so called second hand book - 180 odd pages, well bound hard back with wonderfully detailed and useful info.

Bought to replace my epoch 1950 version that fell apart after much use.

This 'old-fashioned' atlas hasn't got lots of glossy Hubble telescope photos but what it has is lots of information. The maps are good for naked-eye, binoculars and small-medium telescope observers and there is a comprehensive list of what on in the sky every month. You need to spend 10x as much to get anything better.

A must have book for anyone interested in astronomy. Detailed star maps, moon maps and information on most astronomical phenomenon. It does go into quite a lot of detail, so if your new to the hobbies then their will be things to learn about but in general it is easy to read and understand.A great book that I love

To quote Leif J Robinson, editor of the Sky & Telescope magazine, 'Once in a blue moon a book appears that dramatically and forever changes its subject… a paradigm for learning.' This is the 18th edition published in 1989, the first edited by Ian Ridpath and also the charts were brought up to date with a new projection and listings. Albeit without digital information the basics of the amateur subject are laid out clearly which were the same in the 1990s. All that is needed extra is a torch in red preferably.

All of the basics are there in sufficient detail.
