It's definitely a spring.
Used this to modify my alpha hawk when I was bored. And it still works also hurts to be hit by now. To be perfectly honest it's quite hard to mess up a spring.

Ordered 10kg, received 6kg. But this was probably just as well: I ordered a different 10kg spring at the same time, which happened to have exactly the same diameter and coil pitch. I put that in my blaster, but 10kg was too much for the trigger catch, and it kept slipping. The 6kg spring I received didn't suffer those problems. So, in summary, don't order a 10kg spring for the strongarm/disruptor. ;-)
