Review: I highly recommend it. - It is easy to follow through in the order that the material is presented, but I especially like that the other half has a practice test and explanations. The content provides a good overview before tackling the details, which is a different approach than other test prep companies use. Of course, the price of this book is reasonable too and is a better option for those who can't afford expensive test prep courses but have the determination to succeed in the exam. Review: Almost a complete waste of money - I purchased this item along with "Part 2" and both were equally disappointing. The book is essentially just word definitions. The first part of the book, which is the only part that is useful, offers 5 tips to improve your score. They are common sense but a good review nonetheless (Such as 'Time is your enemy', it explains how you need to pace yourself and skip an answser if it is taking too much of your time). The rest of the book is word definitions like 'sunk cost' or 'rate of return' (you can get the definitions from a dictionary, or google). The book is a waste. You'd be better off buying directly from one of the recommended vendors listed on the CMA website. I didn't and now I'm out $80. Purchase with caution.

Four Stars
This book had good definitions but I wish it had more practice questions.

Better way to study!
it is very closely related to the materials I need to be studying but also is a great way to refresh the basics to help build up and regain all the important information. Also is a great way to show people how to study for exams and how to avoid so much stress and great time management during test-taking.

Decent but insufficient. Higher value products are available.
Its a decent summary of the topics included on cma part 1. But with only 60 pages of content (largely limited to definitions as one reviewer noted) and only 50 practice mc questions, this is nowhere near being a sufficient resource for studying. Other study guides better teach these topics in more detail with question banks rendering this guide largely useless. Also, the test taking tips are valuable but commonplace. You can find similar tips for free at the CMA website. This book is likely not enough to justify the current $45 price tag and an inefficient use of time for most test takers. As an alternative, I suggest the Gleim study guides and test bank for $200 per section (not the full $400 package unless you really need the additional audio and internet class resources). I rarely needed to refer to additional resources when using these guides/practice sets for the cpa exams and am finding the same as I work through their cma guides.

Great book, Great Price
So far this book has been really helpful in my studying and I love that there is a practice test at the end. The price is very good also.

VERY Disappointed
Hi folks, I was really disappointed in this book. Its a list of topics with a paragraph or so of definition for each statement. It's almost like an excerpt of Barron's Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms. The test taking 'tips'...let's say if you made it through a halfway decent college program you already know most of these tips. There are NO practice exams, not even any sample questions. There is no interpretation of what IMA is currently focussing on for the questions to help you decide where to focus. There is no analysis of previous and current exams to help one decide what percentage of the questions are on what topic. Greg
