I've never knowingly eaten black garlic before and so I purchased 2 different brands. I was pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture of these. They easily come right out of their shell-skin. There's no real noticeable smell. Texture is like a gummy bear and the taste is very mild. It kinda leans towards sweet. At first it tasted a bit like a fig and then a mild garlic & balsamic. No weird aftertaste and no garlic burping either. So, I'd recommend everyone try it once to see for themselves if they like it. I'm just gonna eat one every week during the cold/flu season. CRITICAL NOTES: __NOT organic __"made in" says Canada __"distributed" by a company in Minnesota __the brand name "Orgnisulmte" has no website __the brand trademark is registered to "Xiaomei Zou, Siming District, Xiamen, Fujian, China" I dislike the trademark name suggesting this product is organic, which it is not. Because I'm not convinced this is a legitimate company (more like a middle-man vendor) and that part of the information provided seems elusive, I have removed one star in my rating. I prefer transparency. All that being said, the garlic bulbs are indeed very delicious and treat-worthy.

I was quite surprised of the texture and taste of the black garlic. Unlike its partner(white garlic) doesn’t leave a strong garlic taste in your mouth. Its texture is soft, compared to a date without the slickness. It’s an added topping on fresh salad or eaten by itself. I plan on using it to marinate fish, turkey/chicken breast.

I am leaving my previous review below so that readers are able to compare with this update. I have now purchased this brand of black garlic 45 times. There will not be a 46th! For the past several months the product that I have received has been an absolute disappointment, nothing like what I was getting previously. They are coming dry, hard as rocks and moldy looking. Since they are food they can’t be returned, so I’ve had to toss them. I admit I kept reordering a few times in the hopes that the company had a bad batch, but I’m just throwing out my money. These are utterly disgusting!!! That which I feared has come upon me, I will have to order some crap made in China, but even that will be better than this pig feed. Strongly not recommended!! I eat a whole clove of black garlic daily for the past several months. At first I was starting out with different brands, preferring organic over all others. However when I realized what was labeled as organic was actually grown and processed in China, I said no thank you. China has a reputation for very questionable farming practices even for organics. Then I found these beauties grown in Canada, and although they are not organic, and I really wish they were, I personally prefer conventional from Canada than organic from China. These are wonderfully sweet and mellow and I look forward to my little nugget every morning. I also love the clear tube packaging, it’s pretty and I reuse for storage afterwards. The health and nutritional factors of black garlic are well known to holistic practitioners, so this is good tasting medicine. I highly recommend this brand over all the others.
