Forget HP, Epson and Canon. Brother is best!
I have been through quite a few printers over the years, including HP, Canon and Epson. This Brother printer is better than all of them. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it just produces reasonable quality prints reliably and with no fuss. Installation was reasonably straight forward and wifi setup no problem. I use non genuine replacement cartridges from a company called Refresh Cartridges in Torquay, which are much cheaper than OEM cartridges and work perfectly. Having said that. the life of the cartridges that came with the printer was pretty good and OEM cartridges are a little bit cheaper than those from the likes of HP and Canon. The paper feed has thus far been faultless, an area where my last Epson printer was useless! Overall, very happy. Brother is probably a less well known brand than the others, but in my opinion the produce a better product overall,

Brilliant printer, ink lasts well
Bought to replace yet another HP printer which stopped working and wouldn’t connect to WiFi. Thought I’d take a chance with Brother brand as wasn’t going to get another HP, and have to say I’m converted! Excellent quality printer, easy to set up and after months of use have had no issues with connectivity or constant maintenance which the HP seemed to have. Prints immediately every time from both phone and laptop. Still using the ink that was supplied with it so another plus point over HP printer which seemed to drink ink and was therefore costly to run. Have printed a lot so very impressed with ink capacity. Would definitely recommend this printer, I won’t be going back to HP or indeed Canon or Epson printers both of which I’ve had over the years and cost a fortune in ink/ aren’t reliable. Brother is the way forward, very happy

Not as good as an Epson
I went for this because it had good writeups. However, it isn't as good as my old Epson Stylus. It's a lot of faffing about getting paper in and out or if you want to print an envelope. It was a lot simpler with the Epson. But this is what I've got so I'll live with it. It does print fast and well.

Easy Peasy...
Brother DCP-J1200W - if you want a low cost, no fuss, printer for small volume printing its excellent. Delivered next day, unboxed, inserted print cartridges, powered on, pressed the WPS button on a BT router, working in under 30mins: printing from an iMac, Win11, an old iPad, and Samsung phone (no app needed): surprised at how easy the process was. If you get really stuck you can use a USB cable (not supplied) to connect to a Windows PC. It will do double sided, envelopes, etc: it can get fiddly, but to be honest if are doing a lot of these you should be looking at a more expensive printer that caters for that. Its reasonably fast, fairly quite, small footprint, big paper tray, print cartridges easy to install, good quality print: for the cost its Excellent value.

BEWARE
UPDATE: Originally loved this printer, but it BROKE in exactly one month. We only used it once!! Just stopped printing with ink still in the cartridges, paper in the pan, no errors. It just stopped working, only shooting blanks. RETURNED. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fabulous upgrade to my old Canon printer, which I had for over 7 years. The Canon was was okay, but a bit fussy, and went through MASSES of ink. This one came with huge ink cartridges, the paper tray holds A LOT of paper and the scanner works great. It works fine with my old printer cable (to connect the laptop to the printer- obviously it doesn't come with one), and no work at all to set it up. It just worked. Scans are great, and it prints really fast. Of course, I haven't tried the wifi printing, yet, but I may do in the future (haven't had the need yet) In which case, maybe I'll leave an update to this review. In any case, the Brother printer works fab with my macbook air. The Brother DCP-J1200W was a bit expensive even on sale, but I think it will be worth it in the end. Soooooooo pleased.

Excellent printer
This printer was easy to install and works on my Chromebook. However, on the Brother info on the Amazon web page it states you can print anytime, anywhere using your mobile phone and the connect app. THIS IS INCORRECT. When my phone would not print when away from my home WiFi I contacted Brother and this is the reply I received......... Thank you for contacting Brother Support regarding your DCP-J1200W After checking the manufacturer's information about this printer. We are afraid to inform that none of our printers has the capability to print away from home as printer and device (PC, phone etc) both need to be on the same network when wireless connection is used. Out of the house it will be on another network so the printer will not work and there is no remote available UPDATE. Brother tech support contacted me by phone to say information l was given was incorrect and you can print remotely. It turned out my printer needed a firmware update which he did for me and hey presto the remotr works perfectly now. Now that I able to do what I need l have upped the starring to 5 stars as the print quality is very very good and it is faster than my Epson was
