TACSTAR SIDE SADDLE MOSS 500/590 12G

This is a great side 4-shot shell side saddle. I do prefer the 4 shot saddle over the large 6 shot saddle and those velcro saddles. I ordered 2 of them and put them on my Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader and Mossberg Maverick 88. They are my home defense shotguns. It is really nice to have additional ammo when the magazine holds 5 rounds. I have stock saddles that I don't use now as I much prefer the side saddle because of rapid reload. The saddle looks great, fits nicely and strong, holds the shells tightly but not too tightly and is at a good price. Easy to install as well.

A great product from a good brand. Solid construction. Its very sturdy and the part that holds the shells is not flimsy at all. It holds the shells tightly but not too tightly as to you not being able to retrieve them easily. It looks mean, instillation took about 3 min tops, and is built to last. There are more expensive products out there that do the same thing for much more money. I got this one because i have a Hogue pump and pistol grip and I heard that a 6 shell holder required modification to the pump. I feel that 4 extra shells at my disposal is a good enough extra peace of mind for me knowing that i did not have to modify the new furniture on my shotgun. I highly recommend this product. This was a great buy, if i had two mossberg 500's right now, i would have two of these.

First one Amazon sent was missing necessary hardware. Returned it and asked for replacement. Replacement arrived very next day with all parts. Easy install and works/looks great.

I have a Mossberg 500 18.5" Tactical 6 shot. This item installs as described. Took less than 10 minutes. I went with the 4 shell carrier due to other reviews stating that the larger carriers were in the way of the forend. This one is certainly not in the way of the forend and so far seems to be tight fitting. I'll find out this weekend how it holds up under fire at the range. The only thing I didn't like is that the 8/32 screw sticks out a few millimeters on the carrier side. But hey..it's a tactical shotgun..it's supposed to be rugged and not pretty. I have heard that the hex nut comes loose while firing. After shooting I will update this post.

Got the package in a timely fashion. Installed easily on my Mossberg 500. Hardware included worked properly. My 500 has the molded rubber fore grip. FYI. Holds the shotgun rounds securely and easily accessible. Happy with the purchase. Design and quality of manufacture seems solid. Price was good. Function tested at the range. Good to go. I’d recommend it.

I bought this for a Mossberg Flex 500. The actual saddle seems sturdy. Shells fit snuggly and can be removed easily. The problem is with the machining and hardware. The first order I received had a problem with the hole for the small screw. It was tapped out too large so the screw would not tighten. It was so big you could just pull the saddle off. I contacted Amazon and a replacement was sent in two days. Great service from Amazon. This time the screw fit and tightened up nicely. The problem now was with the long bolt that replaces the trigger assembly pin. The nut supplied was the wrong size. Too small. I hadn't sent back the first order yet so I though I can just grab the nut from that one. That one was the wrong size too! How hard is it to match a nut to a bolt? Luckily I had a black nut that fit the bolt so I didn't have to send the second order back. One other thing that I didn't like was that the unit extends past the receiver by the trigger by about a 1/4". This is just enough to make it difficult to reach the action release button. I may have to retool it to remove some of the plate. I would only recommend this product if you don't mind supplying some of your your own hardware. Which you shouldn't have to do.

This is a great compliment to my Mossberg 500! Installation was a snap and only took 10 minutes tops. I have fired 100 rounds so far and it's just as snug as the day it was installed. I'd recommend using some blue locktite on the screws just to be sure they stay snug. For those who reviewed this side saddle and said it interfered with the slide release, they obviously installed the saddle upside down. It's sits well high of the slide release and does not interfere one bit.

I ordered this a few days ago for my Mossberg 500 field/security shotgun. I opted for the 4 shot side saddle over the 6 shot for reduced weight and because I didn't want to have to modify the forend to be able to fit the 6 shot on there. It went on super easy. The directions weren't as clear to me as they apparently were to some of the other reviewers, but I figured it out quickly and had it installed in less than 10 minutes. The longest part was finding a socket and nut driver to tighten up the nut at the last step. All in all, it was a very easy process. I think one reviewer marked it down because he said that having it on there slightly hinders your ability to quickly find the action release switch above the trigger. I don't know how that could happen unless you mount it upside down because it's no where close to interfering on mine. I'm happy with my purchase.

Fits perfectly easy installation. My total cost Canadian $ was 70 including shipping. Found it two weeks later for forty bucks just down the road from my place. Arg !!!

Fit my mossberg 500 perfectly. Glad I went with the 4 as the 6 would not have fit my model.

Very fast shipping and item came as described

Holds target load and 1oz slugs very well so far. Only used once but great so far. Only gripe is that as a left hand shooter, it does somewhat dig into your hand but its only painful when firing slugs. Installed on a 590 mariner. Another issue is that the bolt that replaces the pin leaves a bolt head sticking out about 3mm, its smooth but not flush like the original pin, causing more discomfort when firing as a righty. Last gripe is that the front nut that holds the part on is extremely hard to tighten unless you have a low profile socket because the cutout it fits in is super small. Overall i would recommend it because it does what its supposed to and looks good but i think they couldve designed it better to accomodate leftys as well as designed the front mount nut and bolt much better. Overall good build quality.
