Heat reflecting Curtains are 80% more effective if their on the outside of the windoe
I used the fabric to make some reflective curtains to hang outside my windows to try to keep this summers heat out. It worked pretty well for a passive measure (very good for a few days and still getting me 2-3 degrees better after prolonged heat).I cut the fabric to the size of the windows. Wired a bamboo to a batten. And then wrapped and tacked the fabric to the batten (using some double sided sticky tape to hold it in place temporarily until I got the tacks in.I hung the curtains from various arrangements of hooks and eyes screwed into the wall. Downstairs where I could reach I screwed into the wall and put them entirely outside (and left them up for the duration). Upstairs where I wanted to take them in at nights to allow ventilation I screwed into the window frame and posted them out (using a bit if flat elastic to wrap round the opening pane to stop them catching the breeze too much).

Generous width of fabric
So pleased with my first purchase I bought more!I made two sun-blinds with this fabric. A bit tricky to work with at first, but after measuring and cutting (measure twice, cut once (slightly oversize and then trim to fit) I practiced on an off-cut. One can iron a crease for sewing on 'cotton-setting' of iron if you iron on the non-shiny side. I was able to pin as I went and although the pins did leave holes, they are not to obvious. Having bought more after this order, I found it is harder to work with larger lenths for measuring as the material doesn't drape easily or naturally but with patience I managed in the end. My largest project was a blind measuring 60x75" and I am pleased with the overall result.***because I needed a wide seam allowance to sew easily in a straight line I wold recommend ordering more than you need, but with careful and patient pinning (not me!) and two pairs of hands, it should be possible to sew a thinner seam.
