Putting DeHaan ashore in the exotic port cities affords Furst an rtunity to evoke the s, smells and atmosphere of Alexandria's waterfront alleys, Lisbon's intrigue-filled cafes, and Tangier's shadowy souks, which he does with consummate skill.
