Japanese Petty Chef's Knife

The MITSUMOTO SAKARI 5.5-inch paring knife has quickly become one of the most used tools in my kitchen. It strikes a perfect balance between traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern ergonomic design. What’s to Love: Exceptional Sharpness: Out of the box, the 3-layer 9Cr18Mov high carbon steel blade is incredibly sharp. It glides through delicate fruit skins and firm vegetables like garlic and shallots with absolute ease. Superb Maneuverability: The 5.5-inch blade is a sweet spot for precision tasks. Whether I’m deveining shrimp, coring strawberries, or making decorative garnishes, the knife feels like an extension of my hand. Comfortable Ergonomics: The octagonal rosewood handle is a standout feature. It’s lightweight and well-balanced, which significantly reduces hand fatigue during long prep sessions. It also has a natural moisture resistance that ensures a secure grip even when my hands are wet. Stunning Presentation: It arrives in a beautiful sandalwood box, making it look much more expensive than it is. It would make a fantastic gift for any home cook. Things to Keep in Mind: Hand Wash Only: Because it's made of high carbon steel, this knife requires immediate drying after hand washing to prevent rust. Avoid the dishwasher at all costs. Delicate Blade: This is a precision instrument, not a heavy-duty cleaver. It excels at fine work but isn't meant for hacking through bone or frozen foods. Final Verdict For the price, you’re getting a high-performing, aesthetically pleasing knife that rivals much more expensive Japanese brands. If you do a lot of detailed vegetable and fruit prep, this paring knife is a worthy investment for your collection.

I got this for 30 something bucks on a deal. Frankly I like it a lot more than my Miyabi that I just got. I sliced through an white onion like it was nothing. I appreciate the storage box as I have yet to get a knife roll. If this knife holds up better slicing carrots than the Miyabi utility knife or my Shun Nakiri, this brand will be my go to for replacements. I definitely like this better than the heavier German knifes I had been using before.

Super Sharp straight out of the box great in the hands and I'm a 6'4 guy I love this paring knife

Perfect edge, beautiful packaging and very well balanced. Japan at its best.

I would’ve given a five stars but the wooden box and all the other stuff I would do without for a little better quality handle and Blade Very sharp knife, decent construction stainless steel but they say it’s carbon. Very sharp, nice blade length and shape. The handle is a bit large for the size of the knife. It tapers back bigger at the end, which is frustrating instead of being uniform the antagonist grip is brilliant great control throats a bit short, but it is a small knife for the price you cannot beat it, but the wooden box is an excessive silly thing I would’ve rather them done without it and maybe used a slightly better steel I did order their chopping knife because I’m so impressed with the build for the cost

I bought this knife and another from their more expensive line at the same time to see which was better. The more expensive one was awful! It was sharp, but lacked balance. This knife is perfectly balanced and super sharp. The handle is attached solidly, with no wiggle at all. It has been able to cut everything I have tried it on, from tomatoes to thick slabs of meat.

Actually not a bad knife....HOWEVER, this is NOT an authentic "Japanese knife"! The actual operating company is Shenzhen Shi San Ben Sheng Mao Yi You Xian Gongsi, located in Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It uses Chinese industrial steel, not the handcrafted Japanese artisanal steel. They then put it in a pretty box to further trick you. That said, its a pretty decent knife and sold at a relatively low cost.

This knife is a great knife for an entry-level into carbon steel/stainless steel knives because it’s very soft and if you use anything abrasive on it, it will scratch but comes out the package sharp. It is very sturdy. It feels great not too heavy not too light and doesn’t feel cheap, it’s wonderful and level knife used it on the line in a kitchen for a week now the black started to come off slightly I can see it fading And it also stains a bit with certain foods, but give it a whip it was fine. I think once keep up with the maintenance of the knife it’s a great knife and should last a long time. haven’t sharpened it yet myself but we’ll see what happens. loving it so far

al poco tiempo se quedo sin filo

Beautiful and solid knife! Pleasure to work with. Good for mid/small size work. It’s might be small to work with meat or fish.

Excellent build quality with excellent grip and ergonomics

This knife feels good in your hand... well balanced and a good grip, and it's the perfect size. And of course it's nice and sharp! Comes in a nice wooden box and includes a small bottle of knife oil - so would make a good gift. After using it for a week or so and being very happy with it I have ordered it's big brother for cutting the bigger harder vegetables like pumpkins and large carrots.
