Outstanding Mobile Wireless DJ Controller
This thing works great on my Ipad and Iphone with the DJAY Pro app. Wireless with Bluetooth is the way to go. It was easy to set up and it's fun to use. The only thing that would make this better is if it had a rechargeable battery so you don't have to use the power cable all the time.

Great for practicing your DJ skills on the go
For what it is, it's great. There's only so many DJ controllers in this compact form factor, the others being the DJ2GO2 and the Starlight. The latter is also made by Hercules, but the difference between that and the Mix is that the Mix is far easier to pair with a phone, thanks to the built-in Bluetooth functionality and their official collaboration with Algoriddim to bring Djay support to PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. If you want a truly wireless practice session, get yourself a foldable USB-C power bank (the ones where you attach your power bank to the USB-C port) and either Bluetooth earbuds or speakers. Attach the power bank to the controller, then connect it and your audio device to your phone over Bluetooth. I experienced no lag using the controller over Bluetooth, but there will be lag with your audio when using Bluetooth audio devices. It's not bad, but probably bad enough to make you not want to beatmatch. So if you're going with a wireless audio connection, stick with beat sync. Of course, part of the DJ experience is being able to monitor tracks ahead of time. And it's absolutely possible to do that with a headphone splitter, which is provided in the box. But you probably need a separate headphone adapter for your phone, likely with USB-C or Lightning. You connect the splitter to that, then you connect your wired headphones to one end of the splitter and your wired speakers in the other end. No, it isn't possible to do one wired device and the other one over Bluetooth. Obviously when you use wired, the audio latency problem goes away. The drawback is that it's now a bit of a wiring mess. With Djay, you can actually reprogram all the buttons, knobs, and sliders of the Mix to do different things. I mix EDM and personally wanted a bit more control during my transitions, so I changed my Master and Headphones knobs to change the High frequencies for Decks 1 and 2, respectively. While Djay has a subscription component to it, you do not need a subscription to use it with the controller. You may get nagged to subscribe from time to time, but you can have proper DJ sessions without it. Overall, this is really, really good if you were primarily looking to DJ on the go. I don't recommend this as your first DJ controller because you're going to grow out of it really fast, and it's missing some rather useful buttons and knobs that you'll find in the controllers in the next size up. Instead, get yourself a DDJ-FLX4 or a used DDJ-400 for your first one, then consider the DJControl Mix if you want something much easier to carry around while traveling.

Serious execution failure of a cool-ish product idea
I rarely give bad reviews, but unfortunately, there is always a time. I thought this device would be pretty cool to mix with, however, connecting to it turned out to be a nightmare. I had to try multiple different phones (7 in total actually) before I found that my old Samsung Galaxy S20 could connect. None of he other 6 (all newer phones ranging from Samsung, Motorola, ZTE, RedMagic, etc...) could not actually connect to it. All were configured correctly for location, etc... the device is just incompatible with their Bluetooth version. The next issue is that this just feels cheap. Like a corner market toy or kind of the feel of a cheap water gun. After that comes the issue of it not having an internal battery. This would have been an easy addition and considering how overpriced this is, that could be a minimal thing to add to it. Lastly is it's integration with it's software which constantly falls out of alignment with the device. I'm assuming the manufacturer didn't really do any comprehensive compatibility testing and likely tried to produce this on the cheap and it shows. There is more wrong with it and/or areas it falls woefully short, but this likely says enough.

Super “welcoming” home and roam DJ device!
For comparison sake I already have a Hercules Inpulse 500 and a numark dj2gotouch. They are both computer peripherals. They are great but attached to so much of the ‘computer’ style software and require some knowledge about computers that is a challenge. The Hercules DJcontrol Bluetooth unit is the opposite. Pushed a button and was connected on my phone. Easily digs into Apple Music in a way that I haven’t managed to do at all in the PC peripherals. It isn’t as powerful as the 500 and that’s not a surprise but it is the perfect unit for someone who wants to try casually DJing. It is a handsome piece and looks good laying around as it waits to infuse your tunes. It included some video tutorials for using it that are YouTube accessible but this is a standard for these style of devices. Don’t expect to throw it all up at a wedding but you will wow your friends at the beach or at your house party. Just remember… just because you can make the whistle go off with a button smash doesn’t mean you should! Only concern… PUT A BATTERY IN THIS THING! Eager casual level suggestion… put a big battery and allow it to recharge USB devices and add a big speaker.(give me full freedom like on the Numark Scratch.) Thanks!

Amazing Beginner Controller For a Totally Blind DJ
When someone asks you why you didn't go for another controller instead of the current one you have, rather than being happy for you. Like why does it matter? I literally can't afford a Pioneer controller right now. I love my Hercules DJ ControlMix. I can take it anywhere and it's easy to use with Algoriddim DJay. I love the raised lines on the knobs, and I can feel where they're pointed. The buttons are a nice size and shape, and I love the feel of the jog wheels on both sides. Yes it's 2 decks, but I can manage. Sometimes, bigger isn't always better. I'll upgrade when I can. I'm just starting out and looking for free tutorials on YouTube.
