Marcus Junius Brutus, a good friend of Caesar, felt he had to save the republic from the dictatorship of Caesar. On March 15th 44 BC, (Ides of March) Brutus and senate conspirators assassinated Julius Caesar, stabbing him at least 23 times with daggers they hid in their to.
