Smittybilt 2733 Tire Repair Kit

I bought this kit to fix a flat tire on my fiance's car instead of having to take it to a shop and have someone else do it. The kit had everything needed in a convenient zipper package and I actually got to use it twice because no sooner did I fix her left front tire did she run over a screw in her right front about a week later. I bought the kit just to try it out and ended up being glad I had it for the second go around. Shes got two more tires to go but Ill be able to tackle it with this. Its easy to use if you've never tried it before and very nice to have on hand just in case. Id recommend picking up a tire pump that you can plug into your car that way you dont really have to worry about flats ever again.

I've had a few of the cheap Walmart (Slime and the like) plug sets like this over the years. I know Smitybilt has a rep with some of their products, so I was a little apprehensive ordering this, but a couple of review on a Jeep forum talked me into it. I'm glad they did. This is actually a really quality set, and by far the sturdiest that I've owned. I've had the handle come off more than one plugger or rasp before, but I don't think that could even happen with these. I added a few other plugs to it, but everything is in a nice case that doesn't take up a lot of room.

So it's always hard to review something like this, since I bought it for an eventuality that has not happened yet. That is to say, I haven't had a tire puncture yet so I can't really say how it performs in the field. If and when that happens, I will return and report the results. That said, from what I can see right now it's just about ideal. It has everything you might want to deal with a puncture...in particular a set of pliers is absent from many other small-sized kits. And that brings me to the other gripe about some other sets....why are they so huge? Seriously the others that are comprehensive come in giant plastic cases that weigh 8lb and include 50 tire plugs! Guys, it's an emergency kit; it needs however many plugs you might screw up plus one. So this kit is setup more reasonably; fits in a small space (important to me, since space in a 911 is at such a premium Porsche skipped the spare tire) but still includes everything I care about. I do have one concern, hence the missing star. What's with the "reamer" being powder coated? The idea with this thing is to rough up the surface of the puncture...but the surface is so smooth I can roughly rub this on my skin with no abrasion. I think it will have approximately zero effect on a tire. Again I can't say for sure without attempting to use it in the field...but I'm going to put a piece of sandpaper in the kit just in case I have to make the tool rougher so it can make the tire rougher.

Kit works just as it is supposed to. Carried it for 2 years banging around Africa, even plugged a sidewall with it in bad weather. Two months later, plug still holds. This isn't professional grade, and you can't do super-speed and expect the handles and bits to hold up as a result. But it is solid, it works, and is a helluva lot better than most cheap kits. I will leave it here in Africa with a friend and buy another since it is better than anything locally available. This, an air compressor and a spare tire or two and you're ready for 99% of off-road tire mishaps.

Great kit. I hope I will never have to unmount and stitch up my sidewall on the side of the trail, but if it is life or death I'll try, and with this kit I can! But, I can also patch a nail hole on the side of the road no problem, or just check my tire pressure with an accurate double ended gauge. I personally got it because I can't fit a 33" spare tire under my rig and along with a compressor is a great trail side "fix it yourself" tool kit. For the price it comes highly recommended.

This kit hav everything you need to plug a tire roadside or on the trail. It has sturdy metal handles on the reamer and plug tool. Handy kit to have for an emergency.

This tire repair kit comes with more stuff than I think I need. The quality of the tools appear to be very good and the zippered canvas-type case is well made. I've not had a chance to use it and hope I never have to, but just like a gun, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Looks like a good kit, I carry it in my trunk, but I still haven't had a chance to use it so I'm not sure if I should review it : ) It looks exactly as in the picture, seems to be good enough to do a few tire repairs. Hopefully it won't let me down if I had a puncture on a trail.

Good quality tools, lots of plugs, patches etc. I delayed purchasing because shipping was not included, Prime has spoiled me, and had to pay to have a tire fixed. Got the kit belatedly, just in time to plug a friends tire, took all of ten minutes to securely plug the tire. Only wished I had bought it sooner.

The kit contains just about everything you would need to repair a tire. Everything is good quality. My only concern is that the reamer tool is painted and spooth, so not sure how well it will actually work.

Have yet to use this pack, thank goodness, but everything I need seems to be here... Don't forget to purchase an inflator... Pretty useless to repair a tire and not be able to inflate it afterwards!

I found a screw in my tire. Since I drive a tesla and there is no spare, this product is a must. Had everything I needed to remove it and plug the hole. A fraction of the price of a tow plus the fix is done. The equipment inside seems quite durable.
