Works extremely well!
My husband and I just moved into an older home that had a room full of wallpaper. It was impossible to get off with gel remover or any traditional methods. We thought we were going to have to sand it all off or something. I searched the internet for the best ways to get difficult wallpaper off and steaming came up. I saw this and decided it’s worth a try. I’m so glad I got it! It takes about 15 minutes to warm up and create steam, but it does run for 2 full hours once it’s heated up. The hose is long and can reach the ceiling easily. I did some sections where I scored the wallpaper first and some where I didn’t. It works about the same either way. It melts the glue underneath and peels off so easily. I used a putty scraper instead of my hands to peel the wallpaper off since the glue does get really hot. You do have to be careful while doing this project, but it is not difficult. It is time consuming. I have finished one wall and that took about 4 hours. However, my wall is not damaged at all. If your wall is getting damaged when you peel off the wallpaper, you aren’t steaming it for long enough before peeling. Put on some music and get to work with this thing :)

A great chemical free solution for removing wallpaper!!
I purchased this machine a few weeks ago to help my parents remove wallpaper that's been glued on the wall for nearly 20 years. I found that if you took the smaller of the two wands that come with the machine and steamed over a section of walling, taking your time (maybe 1-2 minutes) then used a puddy knife or drywall mudding blade, the wall paper would come right off. As a disclaimer, it was mostly one layer, however, there was a second layer from some boarder paper and the machine did great with too. No matter how many layers you have the process is the same; simply steam the area, pealed off the top coat paper, then re-steam in order to take off the underlining paper with glue. Worked great and there was no need to wash the walls before painting. It's a cheap solution, that didn't damage the walls. One particular negative was that the steam wand produced a lot of steam and could condense thus essentially leak water down the wall or onto the floor. This caused the process often to be wet and a bit messy. However, it's was worth the effort and the little bit of a mess. The reservoir on the machine was sufficient doing a sizable section of walling. It did take about 10-15 minutes to warm the water in the machine in order to produce steam so be patient, that's normal. However, once the machine was up and running it then ran for 30+ minutes on one tank. If you are looking for a chemical free solution to removing wallpaper, I would highly recommend this machine!

It works
It does work. Definitely made taking off wallpaper easier. Doesn’t take too long to heat up. Has an automatic safety shutoff when water gets low. There is a lot of water that drips as a result of the stream. I wish there was a way to access the main container better so that you can dry it out. The only option you have is to dump it out, leave the cap off, and let the remaining drops dry by evaporation. Regardless, I’d recommend it

Simply Amazing!
LOVE IT! Very surprised that I loved this little affordable machine. Used it to remove old 90's style border from nearly every room. I was down to my last two rooms, and my hand held steamer broke. This had amazing reviews and was so different from my hand held powerful all purpose steamer (that broke- 3x's) and I was pleasantly SHOCKED at how well this affordable steamer worked. I wished I had had it for the other six rooms I had done prior as it is so easy and fast. Pieces come off in sheets rather than tiny little sch-nibbles. It rests easily on the floor instead of me having to "play octopus" using the older hand held steamer. They stated it takes 15 minutes for it to start however I found mine ready after just 5-6 minutes. If you are removing borders or any wall papering this is a must have. It's quick, easy, makes clean up and removal of waste so easy/fast/simpler I also feel safer not having to "be an octopus" on a ladder or step stool. So time saving and easy. I'm kicking myself for not having this earlier. I had so much apprehension about purchasing this that it wouldn't work, and I'm so happy and beyond pleased with this nifty lightweight affordable steamer. :) If I could give it 8 stars I would! Also, I'm not a prime member and it shipped FAST!

A Great Wallpaper Steamer. Nothing More Nothing Less. It does not need to be anything else.
This little tool did everything I needed it to and it worked well, I could not have been more pleased with its performance. I was in a hurry so I ordered this just to get the job done and since it was only 50 bucks, if it saved me just a little time it would still be worth the money even if it did not work well. But I was so pleasantly surprised. I needed a wallpaper steamer but to buy an item for one specific job is something I try to avoid if possible but is necessary. Especially wallpaper, how often does the normal person or even handyman have to deal with it unless you specialize. I started looking at cleaner steamers with a wall plate attachment, so that way once I used it for the job i could use for the bathrooms and kitchens, etc. The problem with those is they do not have both attachments and not all stores carry them. and they are much more expensive. Overall they are meant for a different purpose to which they are suited better. just as this machine is suited better the job it does. So rather than spend 3x the price on a cleaner system, I just bought this simple wallpaper steamer for the job at hand. But if you have every removed wallpaper the old way , you know you wet it, then wait, then wet it again, and when you think you have wet it enough or too much, you wet it some more. Not too mention the mess on the floor and how you have to deal with retaining. But it can still take a lot of elbow grease scraping. With a steamer vs by hand is you use so much less water and only mess you have is the paper from the wall. I have seen reviews from others that are simply not waiting long enough for a couple key steps to start scraping. This process even with a steamer takes time. FIrst stat the steamer as indicated in the instructions, it will take 15-20 min or so for it to start pumping out the steam. But once flowing i had it run for longer than the 70 min stated. Now once you set down the plate, just wait at least a minute, move the plate over to the new spot, and scrap. Is it easy? Is it still hard? If hard you need to leave it in place longer, or if real easy you can use a little less time. IMO more time is always better, if you notice you are not just pushing the scraper to get the paper off and you are having to scrape back and forth hard , stop, and apply more steam, there is no reason to work hard, work smart and let the steamer do the work. OK so lets say it takes 2 to 2 1/2 minutes total to clean an area the size of the plate 11'" X 8" . Now it is time to do math, figure out your total area. It may take you longer in some areas, and others clean easier , but you get the idea. This just doesn't happen instantly Also depending on the wallpaper it can take much longer. I had this paper that was plastic so even with a scraper tool and putting holes in it the steam can never saturate the plastic, i had to melt it a little so it would start to stretch and then I could pull it apart and separate it from the paper backing, then the steam worked as it should. But in most applications you will have regular wallpaper. Remember to wipe the wall as you go too, the glue residue is much easier to wipe away due to the steam so scrape what you can and then wipe off what you can as you go, otherwise there will be more than needs to be when you go back to finally clean and prep wall for what you are going to do it next. Before you complain about a machine make sure it is a mechanical problem and not technice problem.

One of the best home tool purchases I've even made!
Works as advertised, saved hours, if not days, of scraping off old wallpaper glue. So first I peeled the old wallpaper off, then used this steamer to remove the glue backing from the wall. I had two types in my older home. One was fairly recently applied, and seemed more like a glue sheet that just needed to be heated up. For this you could hold the steamer against the wall for 5 seconds or so and then just peel it off with your fingers. If you use the smaller steam plate, which seems to concentrate heat more, you could slide it down the wall, peeling a strip as you went. The larger steam plate you had to hold in place more, but could then peel a larger area, it worked fast enough you could peel once section as you were steaming the next. The other wallpaper was older, and the glue layer more more paper like. For this I had to let the steam soak into the paper (say 15 seconds a section) and when you saw the paper getting wet around the edges it was ready to go. For this type of glue layer I had to use a plastic scraper, but it scraped it right off - leaving a nice coat of paint underneath! My only quibble is the connection between the steam hose and the larger white steam plate is close to the edge and one time I pressed it too hard into a corner and it seemed like it might crack, but I heard a noise and stopped just in time. This item was cheaper than my local home improvement store for the same item, and also cheaper than renting a similar tool for 4 hours.

Sanity restored-Amazing tool for the job!
Just wow! This was absolutely one of the best purchases. Hours upon hours, days, weeks trying to remove 2 and 3 layers of 40 year old wallpaper until this product. At my wits end, we tried a smaller steamer, the old fabric softener method, and finally a chemical remover. Nothing was working. I was ready to hire someone until I found this steamer. Super easy to use, lasts a long time between refills, large area removal with each application, and long hose that allows a lot of movement without having to constantly reposition. The job that would have taken weeks has been cut to 3 days. Love, love, love finding something that actually works like it says it will.

Really I think anything that produces steam would remove most wallpaper fairly easily and the attachments on this work well for steaming ...
As far as how effective this product is: it works very well. Really I think anything that produces steam would remove most wallpaper fairly easily and the attachments on this work well for steaming larger areas at a time. There are a few issues with the design though. There's no shut off if it overheats due to lack of water. I wasn't paying attention and mine got low and the bottom of the tank melted through. Luckily, I shut it off quickly and it was set on a piece of cardboard so there wasn't any damage to my floor, but I don't feel comfortable using this for more than 20 minutes at a time with refills in between now (bought a new one to finish the project). Also, I noticed that the smaller steam attachment leaks a lot of steam and it's pretty uncomfortable to use due to the steam leaking out near your hand. Overall this product does what it says, but you need to be really careful using it and make sure it doesn't run low on water. If they ever upgrade their design they need to consider a automatic shutoff somehow to keep it from overheating.
