Master Lock Cable Lock, Set Your Own Combination Retractable Bike Lock, 2 ft. Long, Assorted Colors, 4603D

This lock has worked great, very easy to use for being so small and compact. Setting my own combination was easy also. Im actually returning a NRS lock and getting another one of these. The nrs broke on the first lock, and it was bulky. I AM definitively buying another one and would recommend this to everyone I know. Pros: Small, colorful, easy to use, can carry it around and not even notice it. Robust cable with good length. Cons: None so far

This lock is great. When traveling I can lock my bag around a post or something and not worry. Favorite thing was when traveling on a train, I could lock my back around the post on the rack and sit down not worrying if someone was going to walk off with my bag. Easy to use and you can set your own combo and change it whenever you want. They make different cable lengths so make sure you get the length you need/want when purchasing.

This lock isn't the strongest lock, for sure. But I wasn't trying to lock up gold bars in the middle of the ghetto. I just used it to lock my backpack to the frame of my seat on an overnight bus in South America. Without the cable lock, I think a nimble thief might be able to wiggle my bag out. With the cable lock, he has to get under my legs and either crack the combination or break out some cable cutters. I also used it in restaurants, to lock my bag to my chair so that opportunists wouldn't walk off with my bag. I noticed that if you don't push the cable into the lock hard enough, it seems to be locked, but really isn't. With a sharp tug, the cable pops out. So, you have to push the cable all the way into the lock to lock it. Dunno if the people who complained about the weakness of the lock were making this mistake or not, but in my case that is what I noticed. So long as you use it correctly and recognize that it is not meant for super high security, I think that it is a great value.

I was very surprised to see that I was sent all the same colors locks. I will be hard for us to tell the difference between the 3 of locks. these lock are what you pay for. They are not very sturdy. The combo may be on the harder side to work since the combo is very close together. It is hard to just move one without the others moving as well. The wire that you use to lock your belongings, is very, very short. You will not be able to lock more than one pair of skies in this lock. I was trying to save money, but I should have just went for a $15 lock like I have in the past.

I do not use this against thieves. I needed something unique to act as a refrigerator lock for my 10 year old autistic son. He can defeat the toddler baby proofing devices but not this. It is easy to lock and open and the retractable feature is what sets this apart from a standard bike lock which is cumbersome and not as effective.

For our Sunday School and Summer Camp, we wanted a combination lock that allows access to the fridge and snack cupboards to a several selected individuals. A lock with keys would not have worked since we wished to provide access to several individuals. We wanted to keep the kids and hungry adults out. I searched far and wide and even went to our area locksmith. An extensive search finally got me here. It was easy to set up. The only drawback I have about the product is that it is almost symmetrical with the combinations placed on the top. Individuals can lock it with the backside on the front, thus rendering an asymmetrical combination worthless. Thus, we are using this with a symmetrical combination code e.g., the first and the third digits are the same. I ordered two of these and got both of the same color. I wish the Amazon warehouse picker would have used his heart and given us the two with different colors. For our need, this should work out great. I will be buying more of these.

Pros: It's cute and tiny, and Master Lock brand; which is why I gave it a chance in the first place. Cons: Anyone with more than twenty brain cells will walk off with your stuff. Note: This is NOT a pack of four, even though the description makes it look like it might be. Review: Let's be clear, I'm fully aware that anyone with a $20 bolt cutter can defeat even the best of cable locks. We all know that if someone has their mind set on taking your stuff, they're gonna do it. Cable locks are just a deterent. They tell the would-be crook or bored teenager, "If you want THIS bike, you're gonna have to fuss with it for awhile, and someone might see you." Most ne're-do-wells will just move on. But this lock gives up the goods with no fuss at all! Even in the fully locked position, you can just jerk the cable right out. One firm jerk. DONE. You could do it while standing in a crowd of nosey good samaritans, and I doubt anyone would notice. Someone hunched over the lock (like the real owner might do while unlocking his stuff) could do it in 2 seconds, with no tools, in virtual silence. I really was hoping for something more from Master Lock, but this is just a worthless piece of junk plastic. The sad thing is, with a slight re-design, this could actually become quite a handy little device. But as is, the only people you'll be protected from are those honest enough not to touch your stuff in the first place.

Wanted a combination cable lock for a lever action rifle (trigger locks won't work on lever actions and I didn't want something I'd need to keep track of keys for.). The coated cable won't scratch the gun and it keeps anyone from being able to work the action. I'm sure if someone wanted to cut it off it wouldn't stop them for long but it should keep any curious neighbor kids (or my kids) from hurting themselves.

Generally, this lock acts as expected. It is small enough to fit in my pocket while skiing and simple to apply. I did struggle with adjusting the lock length when wrapping around the ski rack and the bindings to prevent easy removal of skins from the rack. The lock is really only a deterrent while warming up or enjoying a hot chocolate in the he chalet and would not be useful for an overnight lock in a public area. I did find that my club has the type of rack where a key lock which costs a bit more but is a direct block of the sliding pin from sliding might have been an easier choice as there is no cable. Having said that, this lock will work anywhere so one must choose the best design for their own needs.

A good lock. I had no trouble resetting the combination on the two I ordered. I agree with the other reviewer that said these are probably more of a deterrent than theft proof. They seem sturdy enough, but I'm sure it wouldn't take much to destroy them given the opportunity. I wanted something to secure my belongings for a hospital stay and they were fine for that. Personally, I wouldn't be fastening my bike outside with them or anything like that.

Great quality. Use it to lock up skis on the rack when away or in the chalet. Only wish the cable was longer. Can only lock 2 pairs of skis.

overall good products, not bulletproof or anything but serve expectations well. So far no issues but light construction may be a concern if using in rough applications. For general use securing lever action firearms or a pistol case with a faulty lock these have worked great for me.
