I've been messing with cars for over 20 years, and boy things have come a long way. Used them on my 2017 Silverado, not only did they work well to safely compress the springs, but they held that compressed position overnight. Very sturdy and safe spring compressors I'm impressed.

This spring compressor worked perfectly. If you need to change out strut cartridges on a heavy spring coil over like a Tundra or F150, this thing makes it quick and easy. I just installed Bilstein 5100's in my Tundra, and I can hardly believe how simple and quick it was with these. SO much better than the garbage ones you can rent at the auto parts store. No bending, nothing looked sketchy at all. I like the bar between them that keeps both in place and reduces the chance of a slip. I was blown away how easy this was compared to the "regular" spring compressors. Even if you only use these ONCE, you got your money's worth versus going to a shop.

Solid compressors with one exception: the pins holding the top on. As I began to tighten down the springs on my SxS (250lb Eibach springs, nothing crazy) the pin sheared on one of the top hooks and hit me in the safety goggles. Hear that? Yes, I was wearing some Milwaukee safety goggles and they literally saved my eyesight, possibly my life. Ultimately, the sheared pin may have partially been my mistake. I’m not 100% sure of it but it may have been bottomed out which probably put a lot of tension on that pin? Should the pin have sheared so easily? Probably not. I was using a 1/2” ratchet by hand and it was low effort to turn the screw, maybe if I had been using an impact or something I could see overdoing it but I couldn’t fit any of my power tools in there. Overall though? After sliding a grade 10.9 M8 (maybe M6) shoulder bolt in there I was good to go and they worked wonderfully. The threads did get a bit marred from the unthreaded safety jaw for the lower coil and that made them a bit difficult to put back in the case. Cleaned up the threads with a file and they’ll be good to go for the next time. Be sure to mess around with the height adjustment before getting serious and it will make the job go a lot more smoothly. Taking off 1 star for the violent attack of the pin and the marred threads. At this price point though I would say it’s a good value.

Used for 2018 Toyota Camry strut change. Worked great and seemed really solid. Worm gear was really smooth (I used hand tools vs impact wrench as suggested by folks for safety purposes). Had no issues compressing the springs, very good tool

I recently changed jobs after 21 years in the auto repair industry. So naturally the used commuter car I bought for my new job blew a strut a few days after buying it! I’m used to using massive wall mounted spring compressors, but now I don’t have access to one. Not one to pay a shop to do work I have the skills to do, I did some quick research on inexpensive spring compressors and I liked this one for the price point, as well as the U-shaped adjustable strap that mounts between the spring clamps. Once assembled it is much less flexible than the old-timey ones you can “rent” from a local parts store. I still treated it like an unstable bomb when it was loaded with spring tension but it never moved or left me feeling unsafe. I would still recommend pointing both ends of the strut away from you and anything important or valuable, when using any type of free-moving spring compressor. This tool had no trouble dealing with the fairly small springs on my 2013 Lexus CT200h. The tool parts seem well made and should work for a wide range of struts/vehicles. One additional bonus is that this tool kit can likely be used for coil springs mounted on a car, like for a spring mounted between the body and a control arm, as long as there is clearance for both threaded parts. This makes it versatile.

As a professional mechanic, this spring compressor is legit! I have done probably 12-15 level lifts with preload spacers and strut swaps with this thing and it has held up flawlessly. I was skeptical at first, but after 3-4 uses I got used to it and don’t hesitate to grab it when needed.

Case was scuffed up on the bottom. Inside was grimy. Looks like Bilitools sent me a previously returned item. I used the spring compressor tool today. Felt safe and secure at all times. Simple to use and worked great with a set of rear 4x4 2016 Ford Expedition coil springs. Added a star but still not getting 5 stars because it was someone’s return. No instructions were provided however it was pretty self explanatory for how it should be used. Raised it to 5 stars. Bilitools reached out after reading my review and provided excellent customer service.
