Very fresh hay!!
Wow! This is my first time buying from this brand, Small Pet Select. That being said, I am very pleased!! So much hay for a great price, especially when you compare prices to other companies that sell the same amount of hay. THIS hay is fresh, green, soft, and smells lovely. My boy loves it and didn’t ignore it for a second upon giving it to him within his enclosure! He also loves how there isn’t too many stalks in this product, unlike the other brand I was constantly buying from before… this hay is “grassier” and thus my pet is more eager to eat this. Thank you so much!

Our To-Go Timothy Hay for the Bun-Bun
We are hoomans to a very picky bun, no doubt due to his background prior to being rescued by the local SPCA (a 4H hoarding case where he had no access to space, crammed into a wire cage with other rabbits, and dirty hay). We tried all types of Timothy Hay, even Oxbow, but it wasn't fresh and Bun-Bun wasn't going to be tricked. Nope, none of that. Fast forward to Small Pet Select: we found them online after conducting research and went with the 2nd cutting Timothy Hay. When it arrived, we were pleased to see that it was still green, fresh, and didn't have a lot of dust. Sometimes with the other brands, the leaves are almost powdered. Not in this case, Bun-Bun was busy jumping into the box just to get at the Timothy Hay. Score! We have never had any issues with our orders, love this company that not only partners with local farmers, but also ensures their product is fresh, clean, and picked/stored right to support the ongoing diets of our furry friends. Great value for the money, excellent Timothy Hay that is fresh and crunchy, delivery through Amazon is quick and rated 10 stars by Bun-Bun! Thank you for being there for us!

Affordable & Tasty Hay
With cost of everything going up, we try to save where we can right? Well, I thought I’d give SPS value timothy a try. You can get 8lbs for less than $15 (at the time I bought it). It is the first cutting of hay and probably a little “stickier”, but some bunnies prefer it while some like the softer hays. For the price, you get alot of hay! I wasn’t expecting the box to be as large as it was and I’m not complaining. I also like the quality of the boxes SPS uses. I have turned some into makeshift hay feeders for the newest additions to the bun family while using many of the boxes to store things! Jack did eat a few pieces of it, but I’m not going deny that I did put some treats in there for him to fish out! 😇 Overall this seems to a hit for the bunnies. I mix it with the softer hay, so they have a variety. I also want to note that it wasn’t dusty. From being a horse person, many times you do end up with some dust in the hay. However in this box, I didn’t feel that I had to shake it outside before feeding it to them. And that’s how the horses were fed as well by shaking the hay really good to get as much of the dust out. However, it doesn’t hurt to do that to ensure the something foreign wasn’t accidentally wrapped up in the bale.

Brown, Dry, Not Fresh!
I usually love Small Pet Select Hay. It usually looks and smells fresh. This is the first time I ordered the Value Choice. I read the description and learned that the only difference is the packaging; no pretty pictures. I read the reviews and they were all good, so I purchased. I was disappointed when I opened the box yesterday. It definitely wasn't like what I usually get. My rabbit wouldn't eat it. He stayed under the couch all day. I was worried he had GI Stasis, when I brought him greens and treats he would eat them. He usually loves his hay. I even put him in his hay/litter box and he hopped out and hid under the couch again. Today I tried feeding him by hand and he would literally pick the brown pieces out and toss them aside and only eat the green pieces. That's when I realized just how bad it was. It looks like I raked it up from my lawn after mowing and letting it sit in the sun. I can't believe I fed this to him. Neither can Cinnabun! I guess he was pouting. He's actually giving me the side eye. I tried to pick enough green pieces to hold him over until I can get to the feed store tomorrow. What a pain. It's in the garbage now. Hopefully he will forgive me. I went back and looked at the reviews again and noticed a new from someone else who received a bad batch in January. He called customer service and got a full refund. Unfortunately I didn't open the box until the after the return window. I just ordered it last month, but it was over 30 days. Amazon made an exception and refunded me 50%. Considering that I wasn't that far past the return window and the product was so bad and I spend at least $1000 at Amazon most months, I thought they should just go ahead and refund me the full $20, but they wouldn't budge. I feel like Small Pet Select would have gladly given me a full refund to keep me as a customer if I had ordered it directly from them. Amazon is convenient, but I will order directly from Small Pet Select from now on. Hopefully this is just a one off situation that doesn't happen again.

Great Hay
I have bought this brand before, I’m just buying a smaller box as my previous (larger) rabbit passed and I have a smaller rabbit now. I don’t use it nearly as fast. The hay is great. It ALWAYS smells fresh and looks green. I have NEVER had a problem with musty or brown hay! Don’t just take my word for it though, the proof is in the rabbit! All three of my bunnies have loved this brand of hay. Yes, it is a bit pricier than the popular mass produced pet store brands. But, considering the quality and freshness, it’s worth it. Less wasted chaff and odd bits as well.

Excellent product.
Great product! Great brand!! The box comes PACKED!! First time I bought it I received a box with beautiful thick green strands of Timothy hay. Also, I could not see small pieces of hay and I had not realized any hay dust excess that needed to be sifted. The second time I purchased this item it was not the same quality, which is understandable but unfortunately my box came with a lot of brown hay. I contacted the brand and they were awesome! Although this product is not included on their 100% satisfaction guarantee they still contacted the warehouse responsible for my order and asked them to look for a better box for me.

Meh…
I’ve ordered this value five times now, and I usually am pretty happy with it, great value for the quality, however my most recent order I was very disappointed with. About 50% of the hay is dust or just dead and brown. My bunnies haven’t been enjoying eating it and are picking through all the hay, which they haven’t done before. Pretty disappointed, though I know it’s the value hay. I will try the 2nd cutting Timothy hay by SPS next time!

Mid Quality Hay for a Good Price
You definitely get what you pay for! The hay itself varies in quality, from small brown stringy pieces to large hard pieces. I wouldn't say this Is a bad product, as it is a value choice, meaning you will likely get "left overs" from their premium boxes. My four guinea pigs are loving the hay and eat it right up, which I was worried about with the variation of grasses. My biggest complaint would have to be the dust content. It is soooo dusty and leaves a trail of tiny hay bits everywhere, making it super messy when it comes to pulling the hay out of the box. Overall, it's a good choice if you're on a budget and don't have picky pets. If it were not for the dust problem, I would continue buying this product, but my fiance and I both struggle with breathing.

Hay was full of durt
I have used this product in the passed and have always loved the high standard and high grade of hay. My Guinea pigs loved it that much they barely left any. Now for the last 2 boxes I've bought they have been full of durt which is dangerous as Guinea pigs to inhale. I apologise for leaving this review but I cannot buy your hay in this condition.
