The story is dark, mysterious, eerie, angsty, romantic and steamy. It is a full length dark romance novel that will give its readers creepy vibes from the beginning. It has a gripping plot line and has amazing characters with great chemistry. The twists will be something the readers won't see coming. It is a highly recommended book for readers who like this genre. Personal Take: I liked the story. It gave me creepy vibes from the beginning. My heart clenched reading what the characters had been through and really liked their chemistry. But the story didn't reach the expectation I had in mind. Maybe because the author surpasses all my presumptions with each book and this didn't reach that. I thought the story was a little rushed in the middle. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining story and I am looking forward to reading more of her books

I loved this book and obviously as expected the plot was so good but I am giving this a four because I read the cat and mouse duet before this and there some similarities which I saw them coming. So I'll wait it or 4 it's a little creepy but smut is Mwahh .read this in one sitting definitely recommend

It was an emotional rollercoaster I didn’t expect but absolutely loved. The plot was intense and gripping—I laughed, cried, and then cried some more. Sawyer was such a strong, unforgettable character. This is the only book by this author I’ve truly liked, and it left a mark.

The packaging was good too, condition of the book was good too, but some lines of few pages are slightly erased. But still you can read it, yet I'm writing it because according to the price, it's ...a bit disappointing. Otherwise the rest of the book is perfect except for the few pages. The BOOK is really good. I mean the content. Best for dark romance girlies like me. So do buy.

It is one of best dark romance novels. The writing of each chapter has led into suspense. The ending was very beautiful. + The Playlist of the novel is damm amazing.

Sawyer and Enzo started of on a bad notes but the shipwreck really did it’s job by making these two go through life on a stranded island! The character development got me going through because after what Enzo did with Sawyer before the wreck was unforgivable! But nonetheless it got sorted! The ending was really satisfying and I will definitely want to read more from H.D. Carlton

Although there were light shades on all the designed pages of sawyer n Enzo, i still loved the book and enjoyed reading it...hd Carlton has always been on my best reads....nd i wasnt really expecting such an amazing cover page ....u shd actually go for it....

This one follows Sawyer, a woman who has been broken time and time again. When she took life into her own hands, she did what she had to do to survive, which was stealing identities. One day, after fleeing to Australia, she meets Enzo, a hot Italian man who happens to be a SHARK expert!!! They hit it off and start off with a BANG *if you know what I mean*. But, as usual, Sawyer takes what she needs and steals his identity. When he figures it out, he vows revenge, and he does with sharks involved 😭. They get stuck on a creepy island/lighthouse with a weird old man, and with one bed while his hatred is still there, so are new feelings. This is a rollercoaster of emotions. Let’s just get this out of the way: Enzo, my man, a literal grump, but yet I was rooting for him the WHOLE time. Like, I hated him, loved him, hated that I loved him, and wanted him all at once. But SAWYER... my goodness, this was her book. She is fierce, yet scared. She is hilarious but knows when to be serious. She is everything I have ever wanted in a FMC. Just loved her. As for the story, HD did not disappoint me. She always gives us uniqueness that you can’t find everywhere else. This story is suspenseful, creepy, sexy AF. I found myself scared and turned on all at once. WHAT A THRILL! This book will NOT be for everyone. It is dark, bully, enemies-to-lovers, psychological thriller, with lots of TWs. Does It Hurt? is like a suspensful thriller movie taking place on the pages of the book instead of tv screen. Prologue caught my interest and I was immediately engrossed in the story because H.D. has amazing ability of world building. She is weaving intriguing dark tale full of suspense, ghosts, mysteries, with creepy old man living on isolated island and shipwrecked couple who hate each other - but Sawyer and Enzo also feel undeniable attraction. And when they are together, it is explosive. She is running from her past, keeping low profile and trying to survive - even if it hurts someone else. He is a shark expert and f*lthy mouthed Italian, trapped with her on the island that hides too many secrets and dangers. Whole story gets darker as it goes and mysteries are slowly unfolded in the breathtaking end of this story. I fully enjoyed this book because it surprised me in many ways, it was sensual, thrilling and kept me on my toes from beginning to end. If you are looking for dark romance, with unique eerie atmosphere, this is a book for you 🖤
