YONGNUO YN-622N-TX i-TTL Wireless Flash Controller for Nikon D70, D70S, D80, D90, D200, D300S, D600, D700, D800, D3000, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D7000, D7100 Cameras

An excellent piece of kit. This is a wireless TTL controller which has to be used with compatible triggers so I use it to control two YN-62nn triggers, and it works seamlessly. The option to control power levels and flash modes from the the controller itself, without having to dive into and plough through my Nikon's menu system, makes life so much easier. it costs a fraction of the price of other well known brands and so far it's worked every time and I've never had cause for it to be out of range. It's easy to operate and even controls some flashes I have that that the camera body doesn't always get on with. If I were to be really choosy, the only thing I would've liked to see on the controller is a pass through hot shoe like the triggers have, so that I could have the option of an on-camera flash as well as the remotes, but that would be me being greedy lol All in all, an excellent piece of kit but you will have to buy at least one YN-622N trigger or wait until Yongnuo bring out a flash with a built in compatible receiver (who knows, there might even be one out there already!)

The controller adds the last missing piece to become the complete package, the transceivers were always good, just awkward to use without the controller. With the controller its dead simple now to configure with setup in just seconds. Especially if you a Nikon shooter, this is an absolute bargain for what it does. It also adds the ability to do TTL and AF-illumination focusing, even if you not intending on firing your speedlights, outstanding value. Its more competitively priced than similar products... Honestly I prefer it to anything else right now.

I've been using Pocket Wizards for some years now and I've always been pleased with them however the price for them is still very high. Having damaged one on a recent job I decided to try a YN 622N TX and a pair of YN 622N receivers which cost less than the one Pocket Wizard receiver. I must admit I'm over the moon with the Yongnou equipment, the LCD panel on the transmitter means information is clear and the ability to zoom the flash heads from it is just brilliant. The system works great and the Pocket Wizards have now gone, brilliant gear !

Read on for the things I wanted to know before I bought this. [UPDATE and TL;DR] Review below originally for TX unit by itself. I've since added two YN622 transceivers. - does not enable D850 camera commander menu, but commander function on TX works well. - TX _not_ capable of optical flash triggering like SU800 etc. - Sync actually quick enough for 1/320s on D700/800 in non-HSS sync mode! - Well made and works well, TX requires YN622N transeivers. - YN622N-TX has no pass-thru hotshoe for on-camera flash original review: I bought this after acquiring a Nikon D850 - my first decent Nikon body that lacks a built in flash. I also have a D700, and a D800, both of which have pop-up flashes. Both allow the optical remote control - via coded pre-flashes - of Nikon "Creative Lighting System" flashguns, like SB-800 etc. I have a couple of Yongnuo YN568EX speedlights, which are excellent, and which also support the Nikon CLS optical system, and work extremely well as off-camera flashes under control of the optical pre-flash Nikon Creative Lighting system. From my D700 or D800, I can set the built in flash to control and trigger these optically. I can set a function button on the camera to "FV Lock" and I can then use that to pre-flash/meter, with the speedlights set to iTTL, and thereafter shoot without delay at the pre-metered and configured flash settings. It works well, except in bright sunlight where the ambient light overcomes the optical trigger. Move forward to D850 - no built in flash. Certain Nikon speedlights can function as "master" flashes, enabling the flash commander menu on the camera. Alas, the YN568EX can't do that, not the versions I have anyway, and, also, I'm not a fan of fitting a bulky speedlight atop the camera. A small trigger unit, though, that seems a good idea. I had hoped that this YN622-TX unit would do that - enable the camera commander menu and optically set and trigger CLS flashguns. Alas, it can not. It requires matching 2.4GHz receivers. The IR emitter window on the front serves purely as an AF illuminator (which I don't need) and, contrary to what I'd kind of hoped (and optimistically inferred from the vague product description), it does NOT serve as an optical flash trigger. Rather, it controls iTTL functionality via 2.4GHz transmissions and requires either YN622 receivers on the speedlights, or speedlights with built in YN622 receivers (which I vaguely thought mine had, but apparently not.) Overall, the build quality seems really good, and, given receivers (which I've now ordered), I'm sure the functionality is great, but if, like me, you were looking for a cost-effective aftermarket equivalent to the D700/800 pop-up flash that enabled the on-camera commander menu and worked as a commander unit for Nikon CLS optically triggered slaves, this is not it. I'll update here if the unit works differently given the receivers but right now I'm thinking it does *not* enable the camera menu item for flash commanding. However, the interface on the unit itself offers the same functionality (given receivers) and, being radio, has longer range and immunity to bright light. The on-device menu is arguably much more accessible than the on-camera one, and I currently have no reason to expect it to disappoint when the matching receivers are used. I just hoped it was something it isn't, and I'm writing this review mostly because I think maybe you, dear reader, might think the same. For build quality, feel and user interface, I give this a solid five stars. It's compact and solid seeming, not heavy, has decent buttons and enough of them, a decent display, and a PC socket through which the flashes can be triggered (unlike the cheap non-TTL transceivers I have, where the PL socket is purely for triggering studio strobes etc and can't be used on a master unit to fire flashes with a flash meter - I actually modified one of my YN603 transceivers with a switch that manually sets it into TX mode (otherwise this only happens when you mount to a camera) and also connects the PL socket as a trigger input - I needed this so I could use a flash meter with studio strobes and the (non-TTL) YN603 triggers. The YN622 triggers have options to respond to YN603 transmitters, and this commander has a PL socket *input* for triggering. For manual studio strobes, the YN603 is probably a better setup (for me) because they're cheaper and my modifed Tx-switchable one allows me a free-roaming flash meter trigger. The 622s have lower latency than my 603s, allowing sync at 1/250 instead of 1/200, but I think the newer 603s also do that. The 622 TX unit, though, does pick up the FP (high speed sync). trailing curtain, etc, settings from the camera, and I have no reason to suppose it won't couple all the iTTL flash features back to the camera. In summary: * Well made, nice controls, no reason to think it won't work well * NOT an optical CLS master, does NOT enable on-camera CLS master menu (not when there are no YN622 receivers around, anyway). * Will NOT optically trigger Nikon speedlights - they will need a YN622 receiver. * HOWEVER - Quicker access to CLS-like control on the unit, compared to in camera menus. * Presumably it will work with 2.4GHz-enabled Yongnuo flashes that have the built in equivalent of YN622 receivers. * The YN622 receivers are capable of being triggered by YN603 transmitters. * It's not clear if this TX unit can trigger YN603s (I have some old YN603s, I'll investigate and update - my current expectation is that no, it can't). I'll update this if I find anything more of note when I get the 2-pack of YN622 transceivers ( £86 ) that I just ordered. Summary: This seems like a well-made and capable unit, but it is NOT an optical CLS trigger and does NOT enable the flash commander menu on a Nikon body that lacks a built in flash. I've been meaning to get some YN622 transceivers anyway, for longer-range iTTL off-camera, so not too disappointed, but I think the listing could be much clearer in describing exactly what this unit offers and what it needs.

Very easy to use nice and clear simple display that lays flat on top of the camera unlike the Phottix that stands vertical. It works great if you want to shoot your flash in manual even though it is in TTL MODE on the flash body just set it to manual on the controller no need to go back and forth to the flash its so simple to use and the price is amazing!!! The build quality is not as good as the Phottix but when you can buy a Yongnuo controller and two triggers for less than a price of one Odin trigger who cares .... THEY WORK AND THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!

Be careful, This is a great trigger and is now powering three of my flashes remotely. Dead easy to set-up, its a good idea to watch YouTube videos and watch others using theirs. Why did I say be careful? The instruction manual tells you to download the firmware form Yongnuo website before first use. I did this and broke my first unit. The LCD wouldn't work, in fact it was dead. Thinking it was faulty I sent it back the same day and got a replacement, well done! Amazon excellent Prime service. I again downloaded the firmware and guess what! same fault. I was just about to send it back again but decided to try install the firmware again. My device is for a Nikon camera, I had installed the Cannon firmware; no wonder it didn't work. Duh! I then Installed the Nikon firmware and all is well, Phew! Fantastic, works well with Nikon D750. Packed with easy to use functions. One thing I did note, make sure it is sitting correctly in the hotshoe, as if it is just a mm out of place it won't function. There is a little drop down pin when you wind the shoe ring down which must locate in a tint docking hole.

Although the controller works well with my Nikon D7000 and it a bit temperamental with my D750. This isn't a fault on the Yongnuo but with the hotshoe that Nikon in their own wisdom have made the hotshoe of the D750 a fraction longer! What I have to do is that after I have fitted the Yongnuo controller onto the hotshoe I have to press the controller down a little until the flash starts to fire. After that it seems to work fine. One thing that Yongnuo haven't mentioned in the instructions is that you must set your Nikon Speedlights to TTL mode in order for them to work. This doesn't mean that the Speedlights will only perform in TTL mode. If you want the speedlights to work in manual mode you still need to keep the speedlights in TTL mode and on the Yongnuo controller you choose manual mode from there. Weird I know but this is the way they work. JUST MAKE SURE YOUR SPEEDLIGHTS ARE IN TTL MODE.

Compre este Transceptor ya que tengo dos radios YN-622n pero siempre tenia que variar la intensidad del flash manualmente presionando los ajustes en el flash y me quitaba mucho tiempo en las sesiones ya que tenia que detenerme e ir hasta donde estaba montado el FlashSB-910 y mover las potencias y eso en la practica es molesto para uno como fotografo y para la persona a la que estemos fotografiando ya que la hacemos esperar mas de lo necesario, y con este radio es sencillo variar la potencia directamente en el radio lo cual hace el trabajo mas sencillo y rapido, muy recomendado, Felicidades a Profoto y a Amazon que los enviaron muy rapido y llegaron bien

Lo uso con yn 622 e i flash yn 568 e funziona alla perfezione. Non c'è da dire molto: un prodotto di alta qualità che fa bene il suo lavoro. Soprattutto ad un prezzo umano. E in giro per blog, vedo che anche fotografi di livello pro li usano.... Quindi è proprio necessario spendere 300/400 euro per un sistema completo di triggering quando si è fotoamatori come il sottoscritto? Il marchio Yongnuo è ormai sinonimo di qualità anche se viene dalla Cina. E molti con la puzza sotto il naso snobbano solo per la provenienza.... Non sapendo che prodotti di marca che costano il triplo vengono sempre da lì.. E funzionano allo stesso modo. Ma si sa... Ci piace ostentare.

El producto llego a tiempo, en una caja amazon y dentro con su caja original, manual en chino e inglés y su garantía. Tengo una cámara y un flash externo SB910, ambos nikon que se conectan entre si con el sistema CLS con el que vienen a través del flash incorporado, por lo que no necesitaría este producto salvo para evitar los molestos destellos que a veces íinciden en la toma (no sólo por si estás haciendo retrato y estás muy cerca, también si hay un cristal o un tv de frente por ejemplo). Pero me equivocaba, con este transmisor consigues mucho más!! Es tremendamente cómodo manejar el flash lejos de este y sin necesidad de entrar en el menú de la cámara. Ganas mucho en tiempo y ganas en "ganas" de probar cosas. Al principio este disparador te puede parecer un poco grande comparado con los demás (que no son ttl), pero al usarlo ves lo cómodo y rápidisimo que cambias todos los parámetros, incluso algunos que no tendrías tan a mano por tener que entrar en las profundidades del menú de la cámara. El menú es súper intuitivo y tienes un botón para cada cosa directamente, sin complicaciones. La respuesta es en inmediata, incluso despierta al flash enseguida, cuando este se pone en reposo. La sincronización es perfecta, respeta el ttl, manual y la velocidad de disparos en ráfaga con flash (la de mi cámara es de 6 fts) con este disparador me permite hacerlas y va rapidísimo (ya haré pruebas para ver si difiere mucho de tener el flash en la zapata de la cámara). Por supuesto, con el CLS de tu cámara olvídate de hacer ráfagas porque la velocidad de reciclado es mucho mayor, pero al dejar de usar el flash incorporado como emisor y colocar este disparador ya puedes. Esta es una de las razones por las que elegí un disparador, ttl y este modelo en concreto, por la pantalla y que incluso te permite manejar el zoom del cabezal. Solo echo en falta que te deje manejar también la apertura del cabezal, pero no se si existe alguno que lo permita. Bueno, conclusión, este disparador te cambiará la manera de usar tu flash, lo usaras màs y mejor!!! Si hago esta reseña es porque cuando yo buscaba no encontré una tan completa, espero haberte ayudado a decidir, a mí me llevó mucho tiempo (yo te lo ahorro ;-) Nota: para poder usar este disparador necesitas su receptor, el YN622, mejor si es la versión ll, que viene ya con usb para poder actualizar el firmware.

Ich besitze schon eine Weile 2 YN-622N Funkmodule und wollte mir gerade für meinen 2 Blitz noch ein Erweiterungsmodul kaufen, als ich sah, dass es jetzt endlich eine Steuereinheit gibt. und das zu einen super Preis. Also bestellt und super schnell geliefert. Ein Testaufbau war schnell gemacht, da sich die Geräte sofort gefunden haben. iTTL Test war erfolgreich. Aber das fast noch wichtigere ist ja die einzelne Ansteuerung der Blitze, hier muss man sich etwas in die Bedienung reinfuchsen aber eigentlich ist alles recht logisch aufgebaut. Wichtig zu wissen ist: Will man die Blitze manuell in ihrer Leistung steuern MÜSSEN auf den YN-622 Modulen TROTZDEM iTTL fähige Blitze sitzen. Technisch gescheit nämlich folgendes: Sender auf manuell, Blitzleistung einstellen, Sender sendet im iTTL Modus an die YN-622 Module, diese leiten des iTTL Signal an den Blitz Weiterung dieser verstellt sich daraufhin. Der YN-622 TX manipuliert also das iTTL Signal im manuellen Modus, deswegen benötigt man trotzdem iTTL fähige Blitze. Nach einigen Test und Probeshoots bin ich hell auf begeistert. Die perfekte Ergänzung zu den YN-622 Empfängern!
