Goodnature A24 Smart Trap for Rats & Mice, Self-Resetting, CO₂ Powered

**update** So all summer I was able to catch about 19 rats using traditional snap traps. I left this one set up and when the cold weather set in, I took my traditional traps down and stopped baiting. I honestly forgot all about this trap being out there as it had been since September that I had set it up without any action. Today, the power went out and I had to walk back behind the shed to see the pole, and noticed a great heap of dead rats laying in the bottom of the tray. I have the habit of disabling Bluetooth because it's used for tracking. Apparently when I do this it doesn't automatically reconnect, so I never got alerted. Twice I had found Rat body parts in my yard including a gut pile left by a cat and a random rat paw I don't know where from . The trap says since November it has killed 5 rats, I found 3 of them in there and they smelled pretty bad too. One was pretty fresh. I think the other two must have been scavenged. Rats are leery of new things but I guess after a while they will come figure it out. I plan to leave it set up and will make sure to manually reconnect to it once a day to check on the trap. Finding rotting rats is pretty disgusting to have to clean up, unlike a normal trap with claws I can release, I had to dump them into a bag and they were in a great state of decay. I wanted to like this product but it just hasn't worked for me. I have roof rats in my yard and they have been going right to the snap traps and completely ignoring the a24. The a24 ships with minimal information and the app is goofy. For example it tells you it hasn't synced, leading you to believe it isn't paired, but it only syncs it snaps the rat. The app let me delete my trap but wouldn't re-add it, and it took 8 days for the a24 "tech team" to fix it, but by that time I'd made the decision to return it. I know rats fear new things but the snap traps are new too and I've got 11 in them in the last 5 nights. If you're fighting norway rats, maybe this trap works better, I'm not sure if it's the bait, or what. I've even packed sunflower seeds and pb into the lure, and into the kill tunnel. If the rats weren't biting, maybe I'd forgive it but I'm getting 1-3 a night with the snap traps. Overall I give this trap 5 stars, trapping rats with normal traps requires a lot of effort and monitoring. This thing took out 5 without me even knowing, raising my kill count to 25 since September.

I've been buying these goodnature units for family and myself for years now and they have completely changed for the worse. The cap that secures the bait from larger animals like raccoons has been completely cheapened. Not only is the material a lot thinner, there is only one stupid thread to secure it in place unlike previous units that properly secured the bait. The previous models had a metal base that properly secured to the main piston unit so that it was stable and unlikely to tip from a strike. The current model is using this cheap, thin, plastic base that secures with even cheaper plastic clips which easily detach from the main piston trap. I found my unit twice exposed with the cap on the ground and in 2 pieces due to a curious raccoon. This never would have been an issue with an older model. Old models also came with an additional bait cap that could have diy bait installed, now you have to buy them from a third party... The bait given is also a joke, above 73 degrees it will begin to ooze down the trigger area essentially blocking it from being triggered and providing a nice meal for anything that happens on it. 5 years ago I would have told anyone with a mouse, rat, chipmunk or squirrel issue that this was the only trap they should buy, now I would never. This thing is a cheap P.O.S now and they can have it. I will never order anything from goodnature again.

Ignore the negative reviews, seller complaints or user error account for most of them. These are highly effective with the proper application and strategy. I have also communicated directly with Good Nature for tips and assistance, and their support team was responsive and helpful. I have for years used the traditional wooden snap traps with peanut butter to catch mice. They are effective and cheap, but are single catch and require constant checking/resetting. They are also hard to leave outside or around pets/children. After 6 months of use with the A24 I have trapped 25 mice and 3 chipmunks, and had zero non-rodent casualties. I love the app notifications, date/time and temperature stamp recorded with each catch. It helps you better understand patterns of the mice. (I have even identified and blocked points of entry around the exterior of the house as I move the trap to different locations) I have caught as many as 3 mice in a single night. Like others have said, the newer nut butter bait seems to do better than the chocolate one. It has a very aromatic sweet nut scent, almost like pecan pie filling. My strategy is to use the snap traps to scout for activity and I move the A24 as the "big gun" to clear an active area quickly. Success is assured with proper patience, maintenance, positioning and rebaiting. We live in the woods and this is a part of our ongoing rodent prevention system. I have since added extra A24 traps to keep rodents from ever getting in the house. It's the best when predators "clean" the traps for you and you don't have to smell rotting poisoned mice in your walls. Don't buy to remove a one off mouse or rat, but if you are in an area with consistent rodent activity; the extra money spent here beat the cost of ongoing professional pest control and the use of poisons. The best part is not harming wildlife or your family members.

Don't waste your money! I watched videos on this trap for years on how awesome it was. Well here is yet another example of it does not work in real life. I have had this trap for 1.5 years and have not yet killed a single rat or mouse or anything! to start off with the first day I activated the trap I tested the trap and a piece broke off the trap. Then the bait leaked all over and eventually the CO2 leaked out. I'm sure the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. I wish someone would have left a true real review so I would not have waisted my time and money.

Trap is ok and I have caught many rats but when the air runs out while peanut butter is still in the cap, the rats eat the trap to get to the peanut butter and this ruins the trap. This has happen to both of my traps and now I’m out $450. The cap should be metal.

I've had these traps for nearly two years, the bluetooth "smart trap" version is newer to me. These seem expensive, but are very effective compared to traditional traps or poison. Setup is pretty easy, I got results (dead mice) the same day! The food supply system is pretty innovative, the CO2 cartridge powers not just "bolt of merciful killing" but also vents a bit of air to the cap to squeeze out a bit more food. Lasts 6+ months. I suspect the system works better if you empty the dead mouse each time, but I forgot about one for a few months and found two dead mice when I did get back to it. Mice are dumb. The newest generation of the trap includes bluetooth connectivity. The manufacturer's documentation on how it works is a bit scarce - you can get it up and working fine, but I suspect most people will expect that when you stand next to the trap and hit 'refresh' in the app, they will synch. This does not happen. My guess is that the traps are not normally transmitting bluetooth. Only if they detect a strike do they wake up and start looking for a synch , once it synchs the transmitter turns off to save battery. I believe if you turn the trap upside down, you can also turn on the receiver to get it to synch. I get why they do this to save battery power - but it doesn't give you full confidence: if you want to know the trap does not have a dead mouse in it, you have to assume that you are in synch range and the failure to synch is because the trap is empty, not that you are too far away to synch. Takes a shift in mindset.

Got this trap because we have had mice in the past year cause mayhem and destruction. (Still trying to locate entry point.) lures work well to find location of intruders. Using a trail cam and the trap informed me about what was active while I slept. Got 1 the first night, 5 the second night, 2 the third night. 4 of the 7 got claimed between the raccoon and opossum. The rest got relocated for birds. The raccoon did get curious and ended up triggering the trap. I don’t think it was hurt, as no limping or blood observed. It has not tried that again. We pulled the trap for a few weeks as no traffic seen. New batch observed week 3. Got 2 more within the same minute- only recorded one on the app. Possibly they were killed at the same time? Another time the opossum knocked the trap over and triggered it. Looking for dinner, no doubt. Now we have some that refuse to go up into the mechanism. Also, ants are happy to eat the bait so observation and relocation may be necessary. Update: raccoons figured out how to open bait mechanisms and stole/ate the bait pouch. Can they manage duct tape???

After several months… My rats have ZERO interest in the nutter-butter bait included with the trap. Caught nothing with with trap. (The electronic counter has recorded no kills - as well as finding no dead rats near it. I’ve killed seven (7) rats using other traps (snap traps and live traps) during this same time period and in the same location (my garage). I can put a grain of corn on the floor of this trap, and the rats will take the corn every single time, but never stick their heads into the trap for the bait. I even had a rat steal a cherry tomato off the vine and leave half of it next to this trap, just to prove a point, I guess? I’ve waited long enough trying to make it work that I can’t return it now. I hope to someday try to make an avocado bait for it and insert it, maybe that will help? I don’t know. This was the most expensive rat trap I’ve ever purchased - and worst one of all time. UPDATE: I’ve owned this trap for 1 year now. It sits 2-feet from a place where I’m 90% sure the rats are living. ZERO kills!

I purchased a Goodnature A24 SMART Trap Kit to counter a rodent problem we have experienced in and around the chicken house on our hobby ranch. So far, the trap has been working very well for us. In the first 3 days of operation it has already dispatched 18 mice! Here is what I like about the A24 trap so far… Clearing the trap is an easy task for my wife and daughter, who otherwise despise the chore of removing mice from (and re-baiting and re-setting) standard mousetraps. The A24 trap is completely automatic and all we have to do is toss dead mice over a fence into a pasture for the magpies and crows to clean up. The app has a kill counter that gives us the date/time of each kill so we have a real-time account of trap effectiveness. There are only a few drawbacks to the Goodnature A24 traps worth mentioning… These traps are expensive, as are the proprietary Goodnature brand CO2 canisters that the company states must be used to avoid canceling the warranty. Furthermore, I am doubtful that each canister contains enough CO2 pressure for 24 activations. *Update* the canister only contains enough CO2 gas for 20 strikes, which is disappointing given the very high price of Goodnature refill canisters. Also, although the Bluetooth and the smartphone app of the Smart Trap Kit are working well, the cap containing the battery and circuitry will not stay snapped into place unless secured there with a wrap of duct tape. Overall, I am very happy with the A24 trap. I would certainly buy another trap or two if available at a lower cost.

The rats ate all the bait within days despite setting it up and testing it exactly as described. Now I learn there's no bait replacement? The formula pump is supposed to last 6 months, and then what? What an incredible waste of money. Do not buy this trap unless they decide to sell the formula replacement separately. I have more rats and mice than I did before buying it.

Worth every penny! Install in active area & you'll see results immediately with in 4 to 8hrs. Rats will stick their nose up in & trigger the trap & that's it! Recommend Installing vertically so you don't have to manually empty trap right a way so it can trigger on multiple rats over night because it auto resets. They'll just keep sticking their noses in & falling out after.

Doesn't work at all. Haven't caught one mouse. Bought an OWLTRA to replace it and caught a mouse the first day I set it.

I’ve had it in the garage for a couple weeks now, the spring traps are catching 100% of the mice currently, but I think if there’s nothing else available they’ll go for the bait in this trap. I like that it doensn’t need to be reset. Perfect for going on holidays and not worrying that the mice are going to get out of control.
