Good bench but..ohh those terrible introductions!
First job is tear up the instructions and go on YouTube for help. Many people are finding those drawings more than useless.Otherwise a tidy strong bench for light to medium weight jobs.Should last well if looked after.

difficult assembly - see my pics
instructions and illustrations written by a 9 year old, more parts than an airbus A380, and same amount of time to build better off looking at good pics on amazon advert for it, for assembly guidance but good quality and sturdy and value for money (once you have assembled) hence my 4 stars

Very handy for small jobs, and better than using chairs and tables.
I'm really pleased with this little bench. For years, I've been "making do" with chairs, tables, volunteers, even a precariously placed foot to hold things steady, so I finally decided to get something better.ASSEMBLY - after looking at other reviews (thanks, everyone), I didn't even bother to read the instructions - I went straight to YouTube and found this excellent 6 minute video: http://youtu.be/CUPPYknO5Lk, posted by "green stripey paint". I can highly recommend it, it's so easy to follow. I kept my tablet beside me and played the video in stages until I had completed the bench. It took me about twenty-five minutes. (Thank you, Mr GSP)One minor gripe - the plastic feet tend to fall off in normal use. I kept having to look for the odd one, until I glued them all with Araldite, and they've been fine since.USE - All right, it's very basic and quite light, however, as I've said, it's a lot better and safer than my previous improvisations, and it's fine for my limited skills/use, such as holding curtain poles for sawing, clamping stuff for drilling, sanding, polishing, etc.I suspect that Norm wouldn't have it in his New Yankee Workshop, but then again, I don't have Norm's space, so for me, this is ideal - it folds up and stores easily in the shed between uses.[UPDATE (Oct 2015): In fact, it's so easy to store, that I've bought another one - they are a bargain, and it's handy to have two - eg one with the mitre saw set up, and one for clamping/gluing/sanding. Both together for tackling those extra long planks - you get the idea.]So, if you're a serious joiner/handyman, this is probably not for you, however if you want to upgrade from the table/chair/anyone handy improvisation, this is a great little bench. I like it.

Shocking instructions!!
The workbench is great, nice design quite sturdy good value for money, reason for 3 stars is the instructions were shocking. Worst instructions ive come across it would have saved me a lot of time and effort if they made clearer instructions, quite annoying really.

A bargain Black & Decker Workmate on a budget.
After my old cheap workmate clone finally fell apart on me after 5 years, I was surprised to see a proper Black & Decker branded Workmate for less than 20 quid. And while it's not exactly the heavy duty beast a professional or serious DIY'er would use, it's solid, well made and a real bargain for the price.Unlike cheap workmate clones which usually suffer the fault of the bench jaws levering up when tightened, the WM301 grips objects tightly and stays dead level. Another plus point is that the bench jaws on the WM301 are actually made of wood, not laminated MDF which over time becomes soft and looses grip, (the MDF bench jaws on my old workbench broke in half after getting wet one too many times). The only negatives for the WM301 is that it's a self-assembly job and the included picture only assembly instructions aren't the clearest, that said I'm no expert and it only took me 15-20 minutes to put together. Also, when folding the bench up after use the top jaw section flips down flat and could be easy to catch your fingers if you're not careful. Those faults aside, the WM301 is great value for money and and well deserves a 5 star rating. I bought mine from the marketplace seller Toolbank and was delivered within 48 hours.

Good value and glad I bought it.
I read all the reviews on the B&D range of workmates and was put off buying one so bought another brand. However, I saw this on Amazon for the bargain price it was at and couldn't resist it. Delivered promptly by City Link. When I took it out of the box and saw all the component parts and picture instructions I immediately felt negative and considered sending it back. Actually, when I sat down with a cup of tea and laid all the bits out on the floor, it all started to come together in my mind. You start with assembling the sides and go from there, it's easy. It took me 45 minutes and I enjoyed it. I've now got a lovely little workmate for little jobs around the house. Don't be put off buy some of the reviewer's comments about the instructions. I found them easy to follow once you've identified all the parts, which are numbered to make it easy for you. The instructions are good enough in my opinion. Comes with a little black plastic round socket type spanner for doing the nuts up. I had to use a screwdriver to hold the screws while I did the nut up. Actually I used my swiss army knife which was in my overall pocket! handles have a pin which you line up and tap in, this wasn't a problem as the pin is hollow so you can see down the inside of it which helps line it up with the corresponding hole in the threaded bar. The working height is slightly low for me, I'm 5'8/9" but I can cope with that. Glad I bought it and now wonder if I should have also bought the bigger version. Recommended if got at at the right price. I paid £18 including delivery from Amazon. They retail at £32 -43 but I would not pay that for this model, I would go bigger and get the next one up in the B&D range at about 50 odd quid which has a better working height.

Sturdy, easy and useful
Before purchasing this, I had reviewed it and amongst the others, this came on top.Wasn't diswayed by the other opinions but felt this could be it, seeing the brand name was a little more important and from past experiences of Black and Decker products I've purchased. It certainly was for the price, and quality at a mere 40% off!Had been sanding wooden panels and this holds the panels securely from the bolted handles.Have to now and then put my foot on the lower panel bracket so I think Black and Decker should think this in mind for design, as it can wobble a bit, but workable. Also, with one handle, I have to rotate it by turning and applying pressure to keep in. It's fine.Try not to extend your work surface area too far and keep within the working area, otherwise the workmate will wobble and tilt.Instructions for connecting the pieces together wasn't too difficult, seeing there is a useful youtube video by Black and Decker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTB1llv3iF0) for instructions. Just play and pause where necessary. I'd recommend this for anyone. I'm no DIY specialist but it does the job.Packed away neatly in the shed!

Excellent, as described. My favorite co-worker since day one!
Excellent product, exactly as described. My favorite co-worker since day one! I can't believe I have been using tables, chairs, wood blocks, stones, etc. during all my projects in and outside of the house all those years. This workmate replaces all of them, is strong and sturdy, and can easily be stored aside. Top!

çok narin
sipariş hızli ve iyi paketlenmiş geldi, o yönden sıkıntı yok. kurulumu yapıp kullanmaya başladım. üzerine iş parçası sabitleyip tank zımpara yapmaya başladım. tank zımpara güçlü olduğu için tezgah hareket etmeye başladı. ayağımla sabitleyip çalışayım dedim markanın yazılı olduğu plaka yamuldu. bauhaus dan yarı fiyatına aldığım çok daha sağlam çıktı.

Nice but the assembly instructions could have been better
Nice, does the job, folds well but:- instructions on assembling it are confusing at best- the split pins provided are a mess, are larger than the needed size hence hard to install and a wire based split pin would have worked better. For example, my McGyver take on temporarily replacing them with ones improvised from paper clips worked better than the ones provided. And even the final thing (using a proper wire based split pin) was way better, plus you can replace the pins with more ease.

New look. Same sturdiness and reliability.
I already owned a Black & Decker workbench similar to this model. I had that one for about five years. I wanted to get a second so I can set them up together and work on longer pieces of stock. This new model is identical to the old one I had except for the logo and writing on the top. It’s the same height, same width, same depth and works just like the older one. I’m very happy with this product.
