Joseph Joseph Can-Do Compact Can Opener, Tin Opener with Automatic Grip, White/Green

Works much better than I expected. Nice and compact.

Brilliant bit of kit! I have been struggling slightly with grip recently, and this is so much easier than normal tin openers! Originally purchased for its compact size (which is very handy), I was surprised by how easy it made opening tins - much faster and more comfortable to use than traditional tin openers. So much so that I have purchased another one for my elderly mother in law who struggles with arthritis. Good value for money - not that much more expensive than normal ones, and feels solidly made so hopefully it will last a long time (only been in use a few weeks so far, so can't really comment on durability at the moment).

This Joseph Joseph Can-Do Can Opener was bought as we are quite elderly and have some problems using a traditional style of can opener. We found the device easy to operate once the thing was attached properly to the can top, which we found a bit fiddly to do. Also, the can top is supposed to be fully detached from the can body by this device and then held by a built-in magnet until a button is depressed to release it for disposal. In using the device, we found that it is designed to cut through the thin can wall underneath the upper section of the can top where there is the thick joint with the can top (which adds strength to the can and reduces deformation of the thin can wall). As the device cuts into the can, the can wall eventually starts to buckle under the stresses involved as the cutter progresses around to finalise the process of removing the top section. We have never managed to fully remove a can top and use the built-in magnet as the can wall near the cutting area buckles. However, it is relatively easy to turn the device during the cutting process, which was our main reason for purchasing it.

Rubbish item does not open cans and does not grip so so just spins, total waste of money .

Fantastic opener.

Brilliant little opener. Very easy to use and ridiculously sharp, first time I used it I twisted the handle and it moved so easily I thought it wasn’t cutting anything. Lid is retained and you have to press a button to release it, again very simple to use. There are no exposed blades so very safe. Small and compact and well designed.

I bought this over a year ago. The idea is terrific — it's designed to work for both left- and right-handed users and seems easy to use. It started off well, but in practice, it’s frustrating. It often fails to open cans properly — sometimes only opening partway, leaving you struggling to finish the job. When it works, it's great! But sadly, it doesn’t work consistently. I’m now looking for a replacement.

It looks decent enough, I guess; gives off a 'quirky genius' vibe. The only problem is that it struggles to get a grip on the can. At this point, I’d have more luck with a table knife and a prayer.

Love this. Place it on the can and then the button pops out to come off your can once you've gone all the way around it. Place it straight in the bin by pushing the button it so you dont have to touch the lid at all.

One of the best can openers that I've used. I'm so glad I got this at a huge discount... It's amazingly easy to use and does a clean 'cut' of the tin lid.
