Brilliant!
Absolutely in love my new camera! Great communication from the seller who checked with me to make sure I knew it was second hand. Camera arrived in brilliant condition, with box and all cables plus an unexpected camera bag which made my day. It was a birthday gift so it really did complete the gift. Thank you - brilliant seller! Highly recommend!

Love it.
Ordered this camera for badminton and other sentimental reasons. It does everything I need it to do. With FHD recording at both 50i and 50p the videos look great on big screen and badminton isn't blurry thanks to the 50fps. The battery lasts me around two hours of recording which more than enough but if it ever ran out I can just plug it into my power bank. The battery can also be swapped out for another too. It supports class 10 micro SDHC cards up to 64gb (I think) which is great as I use a 32gb micro SDHC. Videos save fast and in big durations and quantities for a FHD 50fps video(s). The hand strap can be adjusted accordingly to your hand size for a comfortable perfect fit. The screen can be rotated for any "selfie" recordings, etc too. The camera also features a mini HDMI port to get your videos and pictures up on big screen without having to do any importing or whatnot. This also comes with USB extension cable (male female) as the built in charging cable is very short. Don't forget the USB mains adapter is included too. Also a HDMI to HDMI mini cable is included (male male). Proper Sony branded cables and no cheap third party rubbish. Two things I found which may prove to be a problem for others although doesn't bother me are; the lens cover isn't automatic and has to be opened and closed manually. Additionally, the photo capture button is quite sensitive and located close to the zoom slider so can be triggered easily by accident.

compact but does the job
This is a very small unit, so good for portable and holiday use. Battery is a bit small but adequate, it is very strange that the charging cable sticks out the side instead of having a socket, but it tucks out of the way. I use it with a 128GB Micro SD Card, it is in my studio as a look-down camera and I mainly run it powered from the 5V charger pluf. Sound is not the best but adequate. Not too hard to use - not it uses a menu thumb-stick and a button instead of the bigger cameras that have touch-screen. I purchased a "used like new" and very happy with it for the price.

Great value.
Good value for an HD camera. You need to buy a memory card but they are not too expensive. I use it for videoing school concerts and I have two of these. I was so pleased with the first one that I bought this one. One thing to be aware of is that due to limitations of the formatting system on the memory cards every 20 minutes or so it will start a new HD file. There is a very small break in the recording at this point. This will only occur if you are videoing continuously for that length of time because if you pause and restart it starts a new file anyway. If you use the standard resolution files it also creates, the length is about an hour per file. I don't know if the standard resolution files join seamlessly because I haven't yet recorded more that an hour continuously. I have a standard resolution JVC and the files on that are seamless. The optical zoom is greater than for many cheap HD cameras.

Good camera but power hungry
The only disappointment is the need to use Sony software (downloadable) to convert files to a format Windows recognises. This in spite of the fact I use Sony editing software. It's fairly quick though. The camera is easy to use, but i recommend you buy an additional battery and a dedicated charger as this is a power hungry device Recommended

Good for the price but don't expect too much
I guess for the money this is a pretty decent camcorder but I'm thinking now that I should have paid a bit more for something which would deliver a better result. Movies recorded on the highest quality setting are fine but nothing special, and actually finding the settings for recording full HD at 50p fps involves a fair amount of menu-wrangling. When you eventually find and select the highest quality options a number of 'warnings' pop up telling you that you've now limited your options for recording on various media. I've no idea why this happens. It's a pretty dumb system. The camcorder is set to record at 720p at a lower framerate out of the box and the quality there is pretty shocking unless you keep the camcorder still whilst filming. But I can live with that, because this is after all an entry-level product for Sony. However, the biggest gripe I had was when it came to transferring my movies onto the computer. You'd think this would be a straightforward process of removing the micro SD card from the device and putting it into my laptop (via an adapter supplied with the card). This is how I normally transfer files because I can't be doing with all the crap proprietary software that every manufacturer seems to want to install on your PC these days every time you buy one of their products. I had to transfer via USB cable, which is OK in principle, but this entailed yet more menu-wrangling as my laptop (running windows 8.1) had some trouble locating the storage folder on the camcorder itself. Seems I had to set up the USB connection to show the files via the camcorder's set-up menu. In itself not such a big deal but the menu system doesn't make it easy for you. There's probably an online manual which walks you through this but I couldn't be bothered with trawling through Sony's vast registry of crap and signing up to their spam just to find it - so just figured it out myself. So generally know what I'm doing with this kind of thing, and I managed to do what I wanted in the end. But I wonder how anyone who just expects this to plug and play, and who might expect fantastic results out of the box, would really get on with it. It's not a bad camcorder, and I'm prepared to admit that my expectations may have been set a little too high, but it's nothing special. As has been commented on by other reviewers, the thing itself is very lightweight. In my opinion this is a good thing as I was able to carry it around in a jacket pocket without it adding any significant bulk or weight. March 2016 Update! Having now installed Windows10 on the computer, I can say that transferring files is no longer the ball-ache it was on Win8.1 All you need to do (and this is what I'd been expecting when I bought the thing originally but I guarantee it didn't happen) is slot the MicroSD card into your computer's card reader and all the files, including the ones I couldn't 'see' when running 8.1 are visible and so it's just a matter of dragging into your folders. So, maybe the issue was with the OS and not the camcorder itself.
