What operating systems does the software work on? I have linux so am concerned that I'll not be able to get the data off the device.

I have Windows and it works on that, would suggest you look at website and download software to test

Does it measure radon levels

No is the simple answer. Radon emits alpha particles, the GQ GMC-320+ measures beta, gamma and x-ray. Geiger counters that measure alpha tend to be more expensive, I think starting around £300-£400 upwards. Also check out the UK Govt site at: http://www.ukradon.org/information/measuringradon as that might be more cost effective if you're looking at your own home for example.

Can you detect radiation from radioactive objects ? For example: test tuna canned fish, considering that the fish was caught from a radioactive area ?

Yes, that is what this thing was designed for. Note, such radiation will be very small and even air will block it. Place the meter very close to the object and wait a couple of minutes to check if the count increases.

They say sunlight affects the readings. a problem with the gm tube used. has this issue been resolved?

Some contain a glass Gm tube however mine contained a metal one, I assume the affected ones have the glass tube but don’t understand how sunlight affects reading as the particles need to penetrate the glass tube to have an effect
