This new coating is an improved version of the MRC technology used by B+W. The MRC coating is first and foremost a broadband anti-reflection coating, improving image quality. But MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent.The MRC Nano layer has been strengthened to help resist damage to the glass while a hydrophobic coating means that resistance to dirt is increased and filter cleaning is easy .
