Galt Sewing Case – Learn to Sew Arts and Crafts Kit for Kids, Ages 7 Plus

I bought this for my 10-year-old daughter, and she has just completed the first kit of the heart-shaped lavender bag. She loves it, and she loves sitting and sewing beside me while I'm doing my own stitching. It contains the materials for six kits: lavender heart (filled with stuffing and lavender-scented beads), house-shaped cushion, toy dog in a handbag, cupcake-shaped box, hedgehog pincushion, and bunting. The felt pieces are pre-cut, and there is a sheet of cotton with pieces printed on it that have to be cut out and ironed (so you will need fabric scissors.) There are two sharp needles - my daughter was delighted to be using real needles - and the thread is standard 6-ply embroidery thread in several bright colours. There is also stuffing, and some pieces of cardboard for the cupcake box. There are two sheets of instructions. One sheet is all written out in words, and one is just diagrams, so my daughter was having to jump back and forth between them. Four types of stitches are used, and the diagrams for them are not all that user-friendly. An adult stitcher still has to be around to supervise. But overall, the materials are of not bad quality for a children's set, and it's at exactly the right level for my daughter's stitching skills, before she moves up to an adult sewing box.

Bought for a Christmas gift so I can’t comment on the contents but it is a nice looking gift, a nice finish to it.It does look more expensive than it was.

Although we have only just started to make the dog teddy provided and yet to see how sowing the other materials will be..... omg the time, effort and frustration of using the thread and needle is ridiculous, for one the thread is way too big for the needle trying to thread it through the measly hole was so frustrating and once you do it ravels apart as the thread is 3/4 pieces of string twisted to form one so I ended up with half the thread through the needle and the other outside it and having to start all over again, my daughter got soo frustrated we ended up having to leave it and come back to trying again the next day.... We shall see what the rest is like but not in a hurry to do so yet lol

I ordered this as a Christmas present for my eight year old niece and couldn't resist taking a look at the contents; I was really delighted with what I found: pre cut felt shapes for some of the items, printed cotton shapes ready to cut out, full skeins of embroidery thread, buttons, rickrack, bobbles, lavender scented balls, stuffing, pre cut cardboard for the handbag and cup cake jewellery box, clear sets of instructions, everything needed to complete the five projects and all contained in a cute cardboard suitcase to tidy projects away. My only improvement would have been more than two needles, and maybe larger eyes on the needles for those who are new to sewing; I have popped a case of assorted sized needles in to supplement. As a child, I would absolutely have loved this and hope my niece will discover her creative side through making these projects. All in all, a really good buy and highly recommended.

Ideale per bambini che vogliono avvicinarsi al cucito. Adatto dai 7/8 anni in su in quanto per confezionare gli articoli si devono utilizzare aghi veri (In kit per bimbi più piccoli ci sono quelli in plastica). A volte la traduzione non è molto precisa ed i nomi dei punti sono errati ma è molto facile ed intuitivo che quasi non serve seguire le istruzioni. E' stato un regalo molto gradito e i manufatti che si possono fare sono davvero carini e diversi fra loro!

Gefällt mir! Nadel und Faden stark genug, habe mir unnötig Sorgen gemacht. Meine Tochter ist 7, Ich lese ihr die Anleitung vor, zeige es ihr und dann macht sie allein den jeweiligen Schritt weiter. Schön :)
