This is listed as the heavy duty model, and it delivers on the promise. The articulated arm actually screws into the base plate with a retaining nut on the other side, so the connection is rock solid. Unlike the other models, the flex arms are not static and screwed in as part of the base plate feet.. They have powerful magnets, and give you the ability to place them anywhere on the surface. The magnetic standoff circuit board holders are also quite useful, and tuck to the side of the board when not needed. This is hands-down the highest quality and most useful soldering assistant I’ve used in 40 years. Just one more bit of advice for my fellow nerds, the base plate is powder coated, and it does interfere with screwing in the articulated arm, so you’re going to want to re-tap the hole to get rid of the powder coating. The tap needed is a 1/4 - 20 👍🏼 Obviously if you don’t have access to a set of taps, scraping carefully will do lol

This thing is great! I got the "heavy duty" version with the articulated clamp, four magnetic flexible arms, soldering iron holder, and some pc board holders. Very useful. The articulated arm is very sturdy, and easy and quick to adjust. It screws onto the heavy steel base, and the other attachments are held on with strong magnets. Perfect for my needs. I mostly use it with just the clamp and one or maybe two of the magnetic arms, but it's nice to be able to quickly attach and remove other parts as needed.

See my attached video showing some additional points. One is that the goosenecks are very tight and sturdy. They do not flop around. Another is that there are some spare parts provided: Two more alligator clips and one extra circular fitting. Another is that the knob on the magnetic clamp tightens its joint and two ball joints, which is nice. On the negative side, I don't know how they can imagine a one-size-fits-all soldering iron holder. Anyone savvy enough to buy this product will have proper holders for production quality soldering irons, which are typically smaller/thinner than what is imagined by this product's holder. Then, if a circuit board is mounted using the four little magnetic spike things the way the product picture shows, then you'd need to be careful if the board is powered up and traces are near the edge. Finally, the instruction sheet provided does not represent this product in any of the photos or discriptions, so is useless; however, assembling the KOTTO product is intuitively obvious, so no instructions are needed anyway. I also noted and showed how I put shallower rubber feet under the base than what is provided with the product, so it doesn't sit higher up off the workbench than needed. All in all, I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it. I'm a baby boomer, retired, electrical/computer engineer and wish I had it many decades ago.

Really good quality product. Solid platform. Clips are threaded and very stable when hand tightened. Great helping hand for ckt board repair.

Can I just say WOW worth every penny the build quality is absolutely insane for what you get!! 11/10 definitely recommend.

It's different with the magnetic arms. They seem to work. The directions are weak as the clamp assembly doesn't make sense. The magnet bases slide a little but for small work you can make them work. Not sure what the pointed mag elements are, assume for holding up circuit boards with components. It generally is usable. They may say somewhere in the ad the magnifying glass is not included, but I expected it.

I like the clampvise/arm feature a lot. The solder iron holder is also great but I had to modify the coil/spring to accommodate the iron's handle. I really only needed two of the alligator clip arms so having four total is just an extra bonus. I haven't used the PCB holders but they may come in handy some day. I bought this to help me while building audio cables and I am not disappointed. Recommended!

Yeah it works great everything's nice and solid you don't have anything falling off the platform or not having a good grip

J'ai eu un peu de difficulté à serrer l'étau à la base pour assurer une stabilité dans une position donnée. Il tournait trop facilement. Mais je suis heureux du résultat. Les aimants sont puissants et tiennent bien. La plaque métallique est lourde, stable, mais un peu petite à mon goût. Les pinces font leur travail. J'y trouve mon compte de là, la note de 5/5. Les instructions ne servent à rien. J'ai aimé le petit billet du vendeur qui demande de laisser une évaluation. Je sens que j'aurais pu le contacter si le besoin s'aurait fait sentir.

I'm impressed - high quality manufacturing, extra clips and protectors and foot pads provided. The manufacturer must have made a revision as the magnets are very strong and that the magnets are now integrated with the feet (they won't come out); powder coat looks strong (with any powder coat you can chip it if you abuse the coat). Excellent station with helping hands - I would easily purchase this again if I needed to (well built) at an excellent price.

Honestly wish the plate was only a little bigger BUT the arms are GREAT! All of the components are awesome, good quality, and packaged well! The price is a steal for how great this is, though I'd suggest buying/making a bigger base plate because the one it comes with gets pretty cluttered when you attach all of the pieces. (Just don't attach the pieces you're not using I guess... but it looks so cool when they're all there so...)

The magnets that anchor all these pieces are *really* strong, they don’t move unless you want them to. And this kit comes with a clamp that screws to the base and really won’t budge unless you want it to. The base, helpfully, is also pretty heavy. As others have noted it’s not very big, but for how I use it, that’s fine.

Quality is outstanding. The magnetic version is by far the best. The solid metal base even comes with stick-on plastic feet to prevent sliding. It is very versatile for holding projects and storing your hot soldering iron. It is like having a helper at the project table. My recommendation: A nice enhancement feature to complete this configuration would be a magnifying glass with a flexible magnet mount. I might build one myself.
