Fantastic pan, perfect for two eggs if used with a lid
I ordered a lid for this separately, as I don't like snotty eggs so I use a lid to cook them on top without needing to flip them. It turned up and was TINY.... I thought i'd messed up with this order, it looked like one of my daughter's toys. But once the pan arrived and I tried it out it was an absolute triumph. Perfect size for two eggs with a nice thick, light egg white. Having carefully followed the instructions to season the pan and then, when heating it back up for first use, ensured the pan temperature was correct for the Leidenfrost effect using a drop of water before putting oil in after it had evaporated, the eggs bubbled beautifully when dropped in and did not stick even to the sides of the pan (they did slightly, but nothing gentle peeling from the edge didn't fix). What I would say is that you need to order a small spatula/fish slice for this pan as normal ones are too big. Some reviews complained about the handle getting hot; it does about half to two-thirds of the way up, but the end remained plenty cool enough to hold throughout. I just used the end of the handle instead of grabbing the whole thing, which is anyway an uncomfortable shape. This pan is genuinely fantastic, especially for the price.

My favourite egg pan
I've avoided non stick pans and this does the job perfectly. Works in gas, induction and electric hobs - the size is perfect for a perfectly round medium or large egg. I use a mini wooden spatula and with a bit of oil it's very non stick. That said - you need to season and look after this carbon steel little pan with a little love, after a gently clean, wipe dry and smear a little oil to maintain a I’ve steered clear of non-stick pans, but this one does the trick perfectly. It works seamlessly on gas, induction, and electric hobs. The size is ideal for cooking a perfectly round medium or large egg. I use a mini wooden spatula, and with a bit of oil, it becomes incredibly non-stick. However, it’s essential to season and care for this carbon steel little pan with some love. After a gentle clean, wipe it dry, and smear a thin layer of oil to maintain a rust-free pan. Even if it does rust, it’s very easy to fix. This frying pan is definitely a keeper for life! rust free pan. Even if it does rust - it's very easy to fix. Certainly a frying pan for life ! I bought its 10inch brother as I like this brand.

Perfect Pan
I gave this pan a really good scouring with pink stuff and hot water. dried it off and seasoned with a tiny drop of sunflower oil Every time I use it it gets more non stick, eggs just slide out, perfect for black pudding, but I never fry tomatoes or anything acidic in it. Handle gets warm but just use a tea towel etc. Brilliant little pan, will last a hundred years I am sure, no nasty teflon and easy to keep clean. Whats not to like? Any one who complains that it goes rusty should stick to takeaway meals. Thank you for reading this.

Great pan with a fatal design flaw.
It's a good pan with an absolutely incomprehensible design flaw. The only place where the egg sometimes sticks is where the de buyer logo is! Why on earth would de buyer emboss their logo on the inner base of a pan that's meant to become non-stick? It's simply crazy. I have a dozen de buyer pans but because of tiny size of this one, the embossed logo matters.

Fantastic for single portions from induction hob to table.
First, I washed the beeswax coating off in warm water and sealed it by baking it in a hot oven with a little melted goose fat rubbed all over. ( I put it in a 10 inch silicone cake 'tin'. I do not use any dish soap just hot water to clean it straight after cooking to retain the seal. It is the perfect size and functionality for single portions direct from induction hob (yes it works unlike Mauviel etc.) to table. I have cooked scallops in butter and garlic, piri piri prawns, and I am buying a second one so I can cook starters for two in a flash and serve with bread on a board. Fantastic little pan!

Brilliant
I've been looking for a mini frying pan for ages for my new induction cooker. This fits the bill perfectly. I'm in the process of building up the seasoning and so far its worked beautifully on my cooker. Lovely quality product. It should last for years.

Does what it says but could be cheaper
I'll start with the major drawbacks - price and handle. This pan is waaaaayyy overpriced. I bought this for £20 and you can get a 24cm carbon steel pan from de Buyer for £22. Not to mention the other companies making pans. I just don't see a reason for this to be £20. If it were cheaper, I'd probably get another one or more. Another major miscalculation is the handle. This is not that big but basically, you cannot touch this pan without gloves. The handle could have been a bit longer. I use this pan on the lowest heat setting on the smallest stove top (gas) and within a couple of minutes, the handle is untouchable. I don't mind this much but I wonder if the handle were longer how much easier it would have been to use the pan. Keep in mind that because the handle is so short, grabbing it with a towel or glove isn't that easy either. So you really need to use a hand but it's too hot. I feel they should have thought about this when designing the tool - certainly would warrant the high price. Otherwise, and this is very personal - this pan fits really well into my lifestyle. I use it often to make eggs and burgers. If I cook something for myself it is just large enough. Really, it's a burger pan for 1. As I said, if it were cheaper, I'd buy several of these but at this price I'm looking at £80 for 4 but then operating more than one pan with these short hot handles is dangerous.

Cute AND Functional (for cooking small items)
I bought this pan MOSTLY because it's just so darn cute and it looked like it would the perfect size for an egg or two. By the way, it IS the perfect size for JUST an egg or two (at the most). You really can't cook much more than two large eggs in the pan and even two eggs are a bit crowded, but they will fit. Raw carbon steel and raw cast iron pans are far superior over any other non-stick pan on the market. I know, this is bold statement, and there are folks out there that would not agree with me, but carbon steel and cast iron pans with not only last a lifetime but can be handed down for generations. I'd like to see another non-stick pan that could come close to that duration. Simply put, there isn't one. Yes, carbon steel and cast irons pans require a little up front work, since they need to be seasoned, but this can be easily accomplished in an oven or on the stove-top. This little pan is no exception, it will require seasoning before it's used. Take the time to learn to season these types of pans. Given a LITTLE bit of patience and time the non-stick properties of a proper seasoning will be better then replacing plastic coated "non-stick" pans over and over and over again. I've seen a few reviews that state this pan is too small to use on gas stove-tops. This simply isn't true. We are using ours quite happily on our gas stove. Having said that, there are probably SOME stoves that this pan is too small for so be careful of that. I'd suggest measuring the diameter of the flame ring on your stove before buying this pan. The outside, bottom of the pan is about 10mm [4 inches]. The flame ring of your burner should be at least bit smaller than this for proper heating. Another comment I've noticed in some reviews is the cooking surface is stamped with a two b's. This is true of my pan as well. I'm not sure why someone at de Buyer thought this would be a good idea, but I agree with the other reviewers that this is less than ideal at best and at worst, a potential area for food to stick. I seasoned my pan any way and sure enough my morning eggs were sticking to that area without fail. I thought of sanding the area to make it flat again, but that damage quite a bit of the seasoning I had just applied a few days before. Instead, I used the "flat" side of a small ball peen hammer and lots of gentle taps to flatten the b's smooth again. This took about 2-3 minutes (5 at the most). Yes, I have to build up the seasoning again but that will happen with regular day to day cooking. Even the third day after flattening the b's the eggs are sticking less. I've been cooking on cast iron and carbon steel pans for many (many) years and I love them. It takes a bit time to make them non-stick, but once this happens you don't have to use special (plastic) utensils to move your food around. Nearly all of my utensils are stainless steel and wood and yes, I use the stainless steel utensils in my pans a LOT. If you want an cute pan for cooking an egg, this one perfect for that. You could probably cook a few small breakfast sausage links or a single sausage patty in this pan, but I haven't tried that yet. If you're thinking of cooking a burger in this pan, I'd be careful of the size burger you intend to cook, but it is possible. This is a great little pan that I would certainly recommend to anyone.

Very cute and good quality small pan.
Very cute pan, bough it for frying eggs, but it is too small to turn the egg in the pan. But I still like it.

Super Brat-Erfolg!
Was soll ich sagen? :)
