Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock was born in 1899 and passed away in 1980. During his life, he was known as one of most iconic English film directors and producers in the world. His work would continue to influence filmmakers and shake the core of cinema. Hitchcock lived in the world of suspense and thrillers. However, he wasn’t all business as he liked to make cameo appearances in most of his films. He directed his first film in 1925, and a few years later he began to see success with the film The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog. In the next 10 years, he would direct 2 thrillers that are still among the highest-ranking British films of the 20th century: The 39 Steps and The Lady Vanishes. In 1939, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood and filmed 4 movies in the next 10 years. One of those films was Rebecca, which would be nominated for 11 Os and win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Over his lifetime, his masterpiece series of 53 films earned him 46 O nominations and 6 wins, including Rear Window.
