Superb smock!
Very comfortable smock.Made of a tough canvas and in olive drab.It is wind proof, I have checked this by wearing this out and about on a Scottish winter’s day. Excellent sizing so you can wear some layers underneath.Features a large Joey pocket, a sturdy hood which is not detachable. I replaced the supplied drawstring with shock cord. There is a through hand pocket too.A well made piece of kit and I’m very happy to have this as part of my kit.Fantastic value for money.

Nice, useful pockets, very utilitarian, the red colour is a bit too geeky for me.
I haven't tried it out in really heavy weather yet - despite living in the northern Scottish Highlands in winter! I'm only a skinny lad with perhaps a small; beer belly - but honestly not much of one!! I do have a broad chest and shoulders though, so, all in all, which means I buy a large or XL top. It fits me quite well all round. Slightly tight in the chest - maybe I'm related to Dolly Parton!!!It's got lots of useful and dry looking pockets, and I will have confidence in it when it's really wet or snowing outside. The hood looks good and useful and effective, but until I really try it out I won't know, but I think it'll be great.BUT. I don't like the colour. It's a bit too geeky, trainspottery (if that's a word), I'd rather a warmer red, a bit deeper, SOMETHING slightly different from THIS red.I guess I'll keep it as a spare or for friends if they get caught out in the weather up here - which frequently happens. It looks a lot more utilitarian than my regular "everyone has one" Puffa style jacket, and I think that's the purpose of it, so it certainly achieves that.

Superb, low key outdoor jacket. Bargain of the year
I think that this is a superb jacket and the price is a complete bargain. The material is a heavy cotton that is naturally shower proof but breathes nicely, is comfortable and quiet to wear and looks great. I'm 6'3" and about 15st and bought the XL which is a good fit with room for a couple of layers underneath if required. I find the length of the jacket absolutely fine but I do take other reviewers comments about a slightly longer, scooped back. To be honest, I'll buy another one if the manufacturer makes this change but its no issue at all.My only slight negative is with the neck closure - its velcro but personally, would have loved a zip. For this price, I might look at getting one sewn in myself. All in all, a fantastic 3 season jacket for outdoor activity and highly recommended.

Great quality.
Fantastic. I bought a beige one a couple of months ago and was so impressed I bought as 2nd one. Top quality, nice and thick and definitely value for money. I might buy a 3rd.

Wonderful, however...
I in fact really like this, it has potential. The material is good and strong, ( indeed it is very similar to the material you get in poly cotton work trousers, ) it is well stitched and it seems it will last a good long time. Whilst it is not fully water proof I suspect, I would say it is shower proof and there should be no trouble making the water proofing better. The fit is good and as I expected. it is quite good at cutting the wind out on a bitter winters day, but not perfect. The handwarmer pockets are of a good size and well positioned. The Kangaroo pocket is huge, as is the flap that seals it, though it could do with a bigger piece of velcro. There is a major design flaw in this item in my opinion though, which will require me to modify this before I can wear it. The hood is huge and comes all the way down past my nose! I will need to tack the hood back on its self to reduce the size. Also there is no collar on this item, which leaves the hood just sitting there like a large empty bag when not in use, which looks silly and is very annoying. Other smocks I have had in the past have allowed you to roll the hood up to form a collar, being secured with buttons or velcro. You cannot do that with this, which is an annoyance. I can, I am sure modify this by adding a couple of buttons or a strip of velcro myself.I am annoyed that I have to modify a new item before I can use it, especially so for something that should have been part of the design from the start! Therefore I have removed two stars. That said, I feel sure with some work on my part this will be a much used item. It is also good value considering the price.I will have another one to modify too, because my wife loves this smock. ( Not sure that is a good thing or not...) So I have just ordered her one! :-)

Perfect for outdoor work
Superb value for money & perfect for work. I work outdoors and needed a tough shower + windproof smock to wear over a Swanndri wool shirt or a British army softie. This is spot on and will definitely stand up to my building, fencing & hedging work. It’s made out of thick Quarpel which is the same canvas type material (but thicker) that was used for the US Army M65 jackets. If anything, it’ll look better when it’s had some hard wear. The hood fits just right too with enough room for a baseball cap & beanie. I’m 6’ and 11 stone (70kg) and the large is perfect with plenty of room for layering and still allowing full movement. Looks smart too so am considering getting a blue one to wear with jeans outside work. Could do with being 2 or 3” longer at the back, but not a problem.

OK but could be a whole lot better with more attention to detail...
Smock arrived quickly, correct size and colour....XXL and green. However, even though I've only tried it on once there are things that are immediately annoying. The arms:The arms are fine and correct length for me (59cm arm pit to wrist)The cuffs:The placement of the velcro is a joke and there is no way that I can tighten the cuffs without having wrists the size of popeye's forarms (which I don't)!The length of the velcro on the cuffs is also way too short, further limiting the range of adjustment. Therefore cuff adjustment is useless. The side pockets:The flaps that 'cover' the side pockets are on the small size and don't have any velcro or press studs. The head opening:The velcro leading from the chest to the throat is good enough and quite a good fit up to the throat and under the chin. The hood:The hood is fine and reasonably comfy with just about the right amount of room and could acommodate a woolly hat without any problems. When synched up, the hood sits well on head with no sign of it flooping down over your eyes. The length:For me, the length at the rear needs to be quite a bit longer - perhaps as much as 6 inches longer. It currenly doesn't even cover my bum when standing. The size:I'm 6ft, 43 inch chest.I purchased a size XXL so I could wear layers underneath. For this purpose the size is good.Overall this could be a great smock with just a little more effort and attention to detail mainly to the cuffs and length at the back.

Only shower proof but....
This smock is ok for light, short downfall only but it's very well made in all other respects. I found no lose stitching, the pouch is large enough for a map and the material is of a good enough quality. The cuffs however are still quite large when closed with the velcro, I stitched an additional couple of inches of velcro hook on and solved that problem though. The side pocket openings may be a little tight if your hands are on the larger side or wearing gloves. For the money it's well worth it. Just keep in mind it won't protect you from anything more than a light shower even after using Nikwax Cotton Proof.
