Has anyone had a problem with them being a bit larger than a standard alkaline 9-volt battery? I read some brands are tight in smoke detectors

They are slightly larger than normal 9v batteries. If you have the battery terminals that snap onto the battery, you might be ok. I have the type of smoke alarm that you slide the battery into and it’s supposed to “mate itself”. Because of the size difference and the battery being really squishy (not rigid) they did not work for me- I had to return all 8.

Are these batteries made in China or where?

While my personal belief is that it is safe to assume they are made in China, there is nothing on the batteries or on the packaging that indicates the country of origin.
