My old breadmaker quit working
Well, it sort of worked, but seemed to be screwing up bread - like it would raise and then when cooking it would fall and just look awful. I don't really know what was happening - seems a heating coil regulator or something like that had gone wonky. I LOVE MY HOMEMADE BREAD AND HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER MACHINE!!! Yeah, yeah, I could go back to doing it manually, but I had gotten used to putting the ingredients in the pan of the bread maker and letting it make the bread. So...I had to find a good replacement and I did quite a search and looked through several bread makers before settling on this Cuisinart one. First, I had one of the original Cuisinart food processors that lasted me about 25-30 years before the plastic started showing too much wear and tear (some pieces cracked off) and even then I found one at a Goodwill store that was exactly like mine so I got more years out of it! I also have a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and during the summer, I have made some darn good ice cream in it! Now, back to this particular bread maker - it is Cuisinart, but I loved the little add-in ingredient drawer so that part is now "automated" should I want cinnamon swirl breakfast bread or spice and pumpkin seed bread as examples. My old bread maker's "menu window" that showed what I had programmed in was horrible! It had a sort of silver background with black lettering and the size of the loaf was nothing more than a DOT showing at the bottom of the screen! This bread maker has a bright, easy-to-read screen is so much better and I love that it has the "confirm" button as my old one was just basically start/stop. I love the ten beeps to let me take the dough out, remove the paddle, add the dough back and have bread with no paddle sticking out of the bottom. Last, is the way this one is more...horizontal instead of vertical if that makes sense. This Cuisinart bread maker has the bread "bucket" on the left-hand side where the old one had the menu in the front, the bread bucket in the back. I really didn't like that set up as I am shorter and trying to pull that bread bucket out was often more difficult when it was hot and I wanted to pull the bread to cool it off. So...this Cuisinart has several features as noted above that means I am going to be thrilled to make bread every week! OH, and if you have issues with bread makers and the lower bread sizes (not tall like the store-bought, air-puffed breads), follow your favorite bread maker yeast bread recipe BUT ADD IN a tablespoon of vital wheat gluten (used in vegetarian seitan and other vegan recipes to create meatless meat) for each one cup of flour called for in your bread recipe. I have scaled my addition of vital wheat gluten (and please keep it in your refrigerator) to 2/3rds or 2 Tablespoons of vital wheat gluten to 3 cups flour. You will find your bread rises really well and looks absolutely beautiful compared to store-bought puffed up bread! But in the end, this is my best-buy Cuisinart machine to date - it may be YOURS as well!

Makes delicious bread!
Best purchase ever!!! Does a great job, bread turns out perfect every time!! It did take me a few tries to get the recipe right, but once I did I was amazed at how good it is.

Easy bread maker with great pizza dough—sturdy build
I love this bread maker machine. It’s really easy to use: just add your ingredients, choose your settings, and it does all the work for you. I especially enjoy the pizza dough option—I use it several times per week. I also like that it makes homemade bread possible with a short ingredient list. Bread should have 3–4 ingredients, not 15 like many store-bought options. Build quality feels well made and sturdy, not flimsy. Overall, this has been a great addition to my kitchen and gets used often.

Good breadmaker at this price point
This is my 3rd breadmaker and I have made 5 loaves of various types of bread in 3 weeks. So far I am pleased with the appliance. The control panel is very sensitive and I have found with the control panel located on the top right side when scraping the sides during various mixing and kneading if you lightly touch with your arm, the process stops and you must confirm and restart. It was more of an issue on my first loaf as I was not sure why it was happening, now it is a minor inconvenience. The tray for add ins, while it works properly, is very loud during that part of the process. Additionally it does not retract itself after it drops, if you do not want your bread deformed, you must push it back up when removing the paddle.

Bread Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Sourdough
The CBK-210 convection bread machine is my first bread machine. I have owned this model for a couple of months now, using it at least twice weekly. I was initially hesitant to buy it since it's a newer model, but my worries were put to rest after I baked my first loaf, which was super yummy. The machine is very easy to operate. I have enjoyed many of the recipes from the included booklet, but I also purchased a different bread machine recipe book (popular on Amazon) that has been great too. So far, I have yet to make a bad loaf, even when I didn't measure the ingredients exactly. I also experienced a power outage during my second bake and was surprised to find that the machine has a "memory recall" feature, allowing it to resume where it left off even after abruptly losing power. I can't imagine power interruptions happen often enough to bakers to necessitate such a feature, but it's cool nonetheless! Onto the possible cons. The machine is quite noisy when kneading, but I think that's normal for most bread machines. This is a convection bread machine, meaning it has fans to circulate the heat, but I'm honestly not sure how much that matters compared to regular bread machines, given the oven's small size. At least the fans are inaudible. I feel I may be paying a premium for something that may not really matter, but oh well. Compared to their cheaper model, this bread machine looks much more modern and is prettier on the counter. The pan handle is also somewhat annoying to grasp; the manufacturers even acknowledge this by providing a little tool to help catch the handle. I think they could have come up with a better design and eliminated the need for the tool. Lastly, the pan's bottom is a narrow shape and can easily tip over accidentally when filling with ingredients. I have to place the pan first in a small container to make it more balanced and less prone to tipping. It's a very minor annoyance, but another design aspect that I think could have been better thought out. Overall, it's been fantastic, and I'm healthier and saving money by not having to buy store-bought bread anymore.

3 strikes and it's out
I have had Cuisinart bread machines in the past (4 to be exact, and they were the old model. I would bake bread every couple of days, and the seal in the bread pan would wear out a little over a year. I always got refurbished, which was cheap, so the cost ratio panned out). I needed a new bread machine as there are no old cuisinarts that are being sold cheaply, and after trying other cheap ones, I decided to get the updated Cuisinart machine. I am on my second loaf of bread. The second loaf has determined it was going back. These are the strikes against it. 1. The nut dispenser on top makes an extremely loud sound when it dispenses...even if nothing is in there. The door will then stay open, which means you either have to close the door at some point before it rises or the rise will be impacted by the open door. This was ambiguous when I was researching. One person mentioned it, but the pictures show the door typically closed. The door is closed, but once the cycle reaches "put nuts in," the door opens, and then stays open. 2. The power failure feature does not work. Someone else mentioned this. I had my breaker pop twice when the kids plugged in the rice machine beside the bread machine. The first time it happened was the dough cycle, so I tried to click "start" again, thinking it would progress it (The instructions say it will resume, but if it doesn't sense power after 15 m it will turn off...not helpful). It just flashes, and flashes, and then if you click "stop," "start" it will start the cycle over again. The second problem was more annoying as it was in the bake cycle when the power went off. I knew not to hit "stop" then "start" because that started it at kneading, so I gave the "bake" cycle a go. I put it at the time left and within a minute I got an error, which apparently, after looking it up, meant to "turn the machine off, unplug it, and contact your nearest service provide." That was the end straw for this machine.

On par with or better than my still working Breadman Ultimate, and that's a good thing!
Since my Breadman Ultimate TR220C bread machine is now 21 years old and still works fine, I got to thinking that it might not have very many years of life remaining and it's no longer made, so I recently started looking into newer machines to consider having a 'back-up' now instead of waiting until my Breadman reaches its end-of-life (I cannot be without a good bread machine! 😄). After doing A LOT of research on features, prices, and customer reviews of several bread machine brands and models, I recently decided on this Cuisinart CBK-210 convection machine. We've owned several Cuisinart products over the years that have done well for us, such as the 12-cup Brew Central coffee maker, 14-cup Elite and 4-cup Elite food processors, waffle iron, 9-speed handheld mixer (for quick preps) and 2qt ice cream maker, so I hoped the bread machine would be of similar quality. Although our past history with Cuisinart products has been good, it was definitely not the sole reason for selecting the CBK-210. I originally considered a much more expensive machine that a lot of reviewers and influencers rave about until I learned that it only makes 2Lb loaves. That alone is a dealbreaker for me, but in combination with the price (3x that of the CBK-210), its size, and that I know two paddles is overkill, I immediately moved on to look at other brands, including Cuisinart. Of all the brands and models I looked at, this CBK-210 bread machine has the most similar features as my Breadman Ultimate but with a slightly smaller footprint overall. . .they both make three different sized loaves (1Lb, 1.5Lb, 2Lb) and crusts; have an add-in dispenser and many of the same or similar settings to choose from. One of the features this machine has that my Breadman doesn't is the audible beep signals for the add-ins and the last rise for the option to remove the paddle. I love that! This Cuisinart also has a setting for creating a sourdough starter that my Breadman doesn't have and the CBK-210 is slightly quieter too. The bread pan interior is only 1/2" less in length than the Breadman and produced a perfect loaf the first time out of the box, which I just did yesterday. I made one of my favorite 1.5lb loaf recipes using 50% bread flour & 50% Golden [white] whole wheat flour (both King Arthur) with chopped walnuts, honey, water, dry milk, grapeseed oil, salt, apple cider vinegar, and bread machine (rapid, instant or quick rise) yeast. . .it baked up just as well and as tasty as it does in my Breadman and the 'add-in' dispenser dropped the walnuts in perfectly.

Buy it now!
This machine has opened my eyes to a whole new world. Who knew making fresh bread was so easy! I actually purchased this particular make and model because it had a sourdough bread function, which is the preferred bread in my household. The first two sourdough loaves I tried on here were a complete fail. I haven’t used the sourdough starter mode either. I just bought a starter on Amazon since I wasn’t ready to start that science experiment. Nevertheless… the quick white bread, quick wheat bread, challah bread, sandwich bread, and apple bread I’ve made on here have been phenomenal! I just plop the ingredients in as described in the included manual and the wallah! You have fresh delicious bread! I like to add whey protein to my mixes and it doesn’t even change the result. I love knowing what goes into my food and this little machine makes it so easy! I bought a bread machine cook book to try out even more variations. I plan on trying out the rest of the recipes provided by Cuisinart eventually. Buying this unit also led me through a sourdough bread rabbit hole! It really is pretty simple if you have the tools, which in my case caused me to buy a Dutch oven, and whole slew of sourdough tools. Who new it was such an process! Even though I don’t use this machine to make sourdough, I love it anyway! I do plan on going through the sourdough making process and experimenting to see if I can bake it in the Cusinart Breadmaker, but since I’m new to this phenomenon, I don’t want to waste dough in case it fails. When I tried making the sourdough the first two times, I used the machine and its instructions from start to finish… I never tried manipulating the dough myself, and then letting it rest, etc. which is about a 24 hour process before the dough is ready. The machine instructions made it seem like a sourdough loaf could be cooked after a 3 hour process. I’m still experimenting, and don’t know how I feel about wasting a dough I’ve curated for 24 hours and plopping it in the bread maker instead of my new Dutch oven lol. All in all, I don’t regret this purchase. You don’t even have to clean the machine much! It’s basically mess free, warm delicious affordable bread. I am so happy I’ve been introduced to the world of bread making with this unit.

Makes great bread easily
This worked really well for us right out of the box. The flour loaves have been nicely formed and perfectly baked. We baked a gluten-free loaf which wasn't so well formed, but gluten-free baking is quite a challenge and we can't blame the machine. We haven't used the timer function. We used it twice to make sure it worked all right before giving it to our daughter for her birthday. She and her family have used it numerous times since, and are very happy with it.
