Movie night upgrade!
I recently moved into a new place and decided that I wanted to upgrade my entertainment setup for the monthly movie marathons I host. I’m not exactly a techy person, so I looked for some inspiration on Pinterest and found a whole bunch of photos of Nanoleaf products. I was interested in the wall mounted lights but I have my TV in an entertainment centre so there’s not much space around it, so I browsed their other products and thought that Nanoleaf 4D looked perfect – and it is. Personally, I’m really happy with this product. I found it easy enough to set up and install – I get easily flustered and frustrated when it comes to cables and connectors, but I didn’t have any trouble with installing everything and I liked that I was able to trim the light strip to make it fit my TV perfectly. One thing I will note is that I use a lot of command strips and double-sided tape for things around my apartment, so based on prior experience I made sure to wipe down the back of my TV with a microfiber towel with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on it to clean the surface and ensure a good bond for the corner bracket and light strip tape and I haven’t noticed any issues with peeling yet. As for as the experience after setting it up, I really love how the Nanoleaf lights look and it has been an absolute game changer for my movie nights. When I was first considering putting LED lights behind my TV, I was worried that it would look like a laser light show (especially considering my entertainment centre is white and slightly reflective), but it has been the exact opposite. These lights are bright enough that the backlighting spills out into the room, but not so bright that it takes attention away from the screen. I love that I can turn off all the lights in my apartment and the lights provide the perfect amount of ambient lighting to significantly reduce eye strain and allow my guests and I to still see each other and the snack table. The lighting is also just stunning visually, the screen mirroring feature works great and makes this cool 4D effect which, paired with my new speakers, creates a really immersive experience and brings the movies to life, it feels like the colors and light from my TV are extending out like an aura behind it. Another thing I really like is that the package comes with a privacy cover. Overall, I think that this product is a winner, even for someone who is not too tech-savvy like me, and it has definitely taken my movie nights to the next level.

This backlight really shines (literally) in a dark room!
The Nanoleaf 4D is a fantastic and affordable TV backlight that really blew me away with its quality and ease of use. If you're like me and prefer skipping the manual to dive right into the simplest settings, this is the perfect choice. It comes with a camera, a controller, and a long strip of light, offering three modes and plenty of settings for those who like to tinker. I’ve seen some fancy professional backlight setups at friends' houses, but honestly, all I wanted was something that reflects my TV screen and eases my eyes at night—and this does the job perfectly. I was initially worried the camera might lag, but nope, it’s super responsive. I mounted it on a white wall, and the lights are highly visible, especially in a dark room like a basement. Now, if you plan to install this in a living room next to a window, you might only get the best out of it after sunset. The strip is bright, but not quite bright enough to compete with full sunlight. Setting it up was mostly easy, but I had to hunt down an online tutorial because the button symbols didn’t match the ones in the manual—confusing, but nothing a quick search couldn't fix. I mostly use it for watching nature documentaries, and it's truly awesome, especially with Netflix's nighttime wildlife series. This backlight really shines (literally) in a dark room, but if you’re planning to use it during the day, you might not be as satisfied. But let’s be real, that’s not just a Nanoleaf problem, right?

What a disappointment, two thumbs down
Terrible. Worst Nanoleaf I have encountered and I have many of their products. Absolutely would not pair with my Apple home completely, there were many issues even if I managed to get the Nanoleaf app to recognize the device nearby to pair it. Camera did not work so could not get past that point the one time it seemed to start to work, but no. Then the device wouldn’t turn on completely after unplugging in hopes it would reset. The adhesive doesn’t work worth a darn either, by the time I decided to return it, half of it had fallen off my (well prepped surface) TV. Extremely disappointing.

Works but…
I’m copying this over from a review I left for the other size for this but my experience between the two are identical… anyways- This is an AMAZING concept. But boy does this thing have issues. I want to start this off by saying I love Nanoleaf and their products but sometimes their stuff just doesn’t cut it. This is one of those things. The thing is, it does work, but not very well. This works GREAT when what you’re watching is a colorful cartoony video. But anytime whites, grays, or darker colors are displayed, this thing falls apart. The white balance correction feature cannot fix gray outputs to save its life. Browns are basically just orange and the edges of color segments on the strip look green on the wall behind the TV due to the “lens” over the strip which distorts white color outputs. The app for it is okay, the setup is also okay but adjusting the edges of the screen is infuriating because the camera’s wide angle and position of it can’t be boiled down to six points on a tv which is all they give you during setup. It should have been more curved to better setup or just given you the option to draw in the edges of the screen. The camera itself is low quality garbage. The stand for it broke in literally one day. I didn’t even touch mine and the plastic attachment to adjust the angle just broke off. I think the magnets for it slammed it shut and broke the piece which means it’s just bad quality. The other issue with this is that the segmented sections for the strip are too long. The only way to get truly accurate representations for what’s on the screen and bleed it out is for it to be segmented much, MUCH smaller. Right now it’s every 3 LEDs and while that might seem okay it really should’ve been 2 or ideally 1. The other issue is that the strip is too thick. That would normally be okay but for this strip’s particular application, it needed to be much thinner so you could adjust it to contour the TV better. Having it this thick makes it very difficult to attach to the TV and going around corners is impossible even with the provided corner “adapters.” I wouldn’t say this is a bad product, but it needs to be heavily revised in order for it to be perfect. Ideally: -The strip needs to have an opaque film to get rid of the green edge problem. The clear “lens” over the LEDs gives off a green edge to whites or certain colors on the wall behind the TV. Or they could just get rid of the “lens” altogether? -The strip needs to be thinner to better contour the tv or be flexible. -The RGBIC segments need to be smaller. It’s not small enough to accurately display small details in the picture -The camera needs to be higher quality both in the camera sensor itself and the quality of the plastics -The app needs more adjustment points to capture the TV’s display. Not just 6 points. Overall it’s okay. I wouldn’t recommend it just yet and for what it is, it’s fairly pricey. It’s bright enough though to be a great bias lighting behind a TV but the strip is too thick and the adhesive isn’t strong enough to go around a TV all that well. It only works great with very vivid and colorful pictures, otherwise it just doesn’t look great. The response time for it isn’t bad but it isn’t great. An HDMI solution might’ve been quicker but probably would’ve introduced lag for the input devices so it’s a small price to pay.

Great once you get it working, but took a very long time to get it working properly
I was very close to returning this product. To start, the adhesive on the LED strip is not good. I used the brackets to help round out the corners but it's not a flexible product and the weight of the LED strip has caused them to start falling off once the TV was hung up on the wall. It should also be mentioned that the device only works on 2.5ghz wifi networks which might cause headaches for some people. The other problem is that on my 72" TV using the mount on top of the TV did not work at all. It is not long enough to get a good view of the screen and the colors were always WAY off on the backlighting. I eventually got something to mount it underneath the TV about 4in away and it's worked fine ever since. The Nanoleaf APP isn't the worst either and it integrates pretty well with AppleHome

NOT WORTH THE MONEY! LET ME EXPLAIN WHY?
COLOR: Colors seem great but sometimes it FLICKERS 4 to 5 Times before changing colors that are on TV screen.. Probably happens 10x-12x times/Daily (watching TV 4-6 hrs/ daily). PERFORMANCE: Our Home Has 4 Different Model Networks (2)2.4ghz and (2) 5ghz and would not connect to any of our Networks. WHEN SETTING UP OUR NANOLEAF 4D IT SAID I NEEDED TO CREATE A NEW OPEN NETWORK WITH NO PASSWORD AND NO INTERNET.CONNECTED TO NEW NETWORK CALLED: (4D 9407). STARTED IT AND I CANNOT USE SYNC+ BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO UPDATE IT'S FIRMWARE TO USE SYNC+. BECAUSE NEW NETWORK CALLED: 4D 9407 HAS NO INTERNET TO UPDATE ITS OWN REQUIRED FIRMWARE. Cannot use any features or change settings without internet. I've watched YouTube and read reddit posts and Nanoleaf's FAQ page I cannot use any features or change anything so as it stands $119.99 + tax WASTE OF MONEY. THIS DEFINITELY NOT THE RIGHT ONE TO BUY. GET THE Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights for 55”- 65” TVs HAS SAME SYSTEM for HALF THE PRICE -50% $59/$79 1/2 the price without the problems. Fit: THE NANOLEAF'S REMOTE HAS SHORT IN THE USB-C PORT. HAS A ELECTRICAL SHORT INSIDE NANOLEAF'S REMOTE. Only way it works by JAMMING USB-C HARD INTO REMOTE AND TAPE USB-C TO REMOTE AND MOVE USB-C UP AND DOWN TO GET IT TO FLASH AND STAY ON AND TAPE USB-C TO REMOTE. DON'T MOVE ANYTHING OR YOU NEED TO DO PROCESS OVER AGAIN. VALUE FOR MONEY: Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights for 55”- 65” TVs HAS SAME SYSTEM for HALF THE PRICE -50% $59/$79. I've watched YouTube and read reddit posts and Nanoleaf's FAQ page I cannot use any features or change anything so as it stands $119.99 + tax WASTE OF MONEY. BRIGHTNESS: Nanoleaf 4D LIGHTSTRIP IS NARROWER AND Not as -50% bright compared to Nanoleaf's Original Lightstrip's. I HAVE Both LIGHTSTRIPS ON THE BACK OF MY 65"TV So brightness is HALF AS BRIGHT AS Original nanoleaf's Lightstrips. REMOTE CONTROL: THE 4D NANOLEAF'S REMOTE HAS A SHORT WHERE USB-C CABLE PLUGS INTO IT'S USB-C PORT. I HAVE TO JAM USB-C CABLE INTO NANOLEAF'S REMOTE MOVE UP AND DOWN TO GET IT TO WORK AND TAPE USB-C CABLE TO THE REMOTE AND TRY NOT TO BUMP IT AT ALL OR I HAVE TO START PROCESS OVER AGAIN. Conclusion: Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Easy to use
Last year I received the Nanoleaf Shapes as a birthday gift from my girlfriend, and since then I’ve been hoping that they come out with an LED light strip system to for TV – and they delivered! So far, I’ve been having a great experience with these two products. Setup was easy and the compatibility takes this to a whole new level for me! One of my favorite features is the ability to switch between the mirror modes. My new setup inspired me to watch Terminator 2 again recently and seeing my whole living room light up and flicker with a fiery glow and during the explosion scenes made it that much cooler. I like that the lights dim and brighten and change color in response to what is happening on the screen – and thanks to the syncing with Shapes the lights in front of me (behind the TV) and behind me are on the same page. I think this feature makes these lights a great pick whether you have other Nanoleaf products or you just want a cool LED setup for your TV.

Nanoleaf spent years to get worse 👍
Haven’t written a review on Amazon before, and it’s a shame the first is for a complete lack of quality & loss of faith in a once favored brand. Product adhesives are literally unusable, resulting in messy assembly & the control console falling and breaking just a day after being set up. In the short day that it managed to operate set up, connection issues within the app and IOS home + firmware updates rendered the product inoperable for hours with troubleshooting between my network and the lights themselves futile. When finally operational, the latency the lights had with the camera make the light strips an annoying flashing afterthought when flashes or quick changes in lighting on screen take place. Whilst a reasonable amount of latency was expected, the delay is simply too immense for them to have added to any experiences I could imagine using them for. The console is now rendered inoperable as a result of the terrible adhesives provided, and I am thoroughly disappointed in this product and this brand. I look forward to seeking alternative options.

Lights are great, quality not so much
We cleaned the back of the tv as instructed and installed as directed however the adhesive on the back of the strip will not stick. They stayed up for about 2 days and started to fall. We fix one side and the next falls down a couple of hours or a day later. Emailed NanoLeaf customer service a few days ago and received an automatic reply, so far nothing else. Looks like we are going to have to go buy some kind of double sided tape. Annoying. That said when the lights are on the tv they look fantastic we were really happy with them.
