The replacement membrane for most of the conventional 20-24 liter pressure vessels, for use in sanitary cold-/hot water systems, domestic waterworks, solar- and pressure maintenance systems and garden pumps. The membrane is made of butyl rubber, and therefore suitable for drinking water. Butyl Rubber: This rubber belongs to the group of elastomers. This synthetic material is characterized by resistance to hot air, weathering and ozone. The elastomer shows low permeability, good resistance to s as well as up to 100°C very good noise and shock energy absorption qualities. In the low temperature range the butyl rubber remains elastic up to -70°C. It is mainly used for air hoses and inner cores of tyres, bladders, steam hoses and linings for tanks. Further fields of application are foils, membranes, unvulcanized sealants and bands. Butyl rubber is also referred to as IIR (isobutene-isoprene rubber). The polyisobutylene and the butyl rubber are allowed as chewable mass for chewing gum according to annex 4 additives admission regulation. Consequently, the material is harmless for drinking water installations.
