Expensive but works well.
I got this switch to replace a remote switch that I had installed 12 years ago. The old one was getting flakey.. the lights would come on in the middle of the night. ( I am not sure if the problem was with the electronics or with radio interference.. there is a lot more RF noise now than there was 12 years ago! The old switch was a type that was prone to interference). There are two different "receivers" that work with this.. a "basic" and an "advanced". Leviton does not make it very clear what the differences are. I ended up with the "basic". Some other reviews talked about having to set "toggle" mode. The basic switch does not have that. It actually just works! You still have to "pair" the transmitter and receiver. The instructions are not great, but read them a couple times and follow them EXACTLY and it worked fine. The stuff about setting delay times and manual on-auto off seem to only apply when you use the receiver with an "occupancy sensor". With just the remote switch, this works just like a simple switch.. turn it on when you want, turn it off later. I just wanted a remote, wall mounted switch in a place where it would have been very difficult to run wires, and this does exactly that. The switch housing looks just like the photos. It mounts to the wall with a couple screws. There are other remotes for this system that are hand held (which would instantly get lost in my house!)As others have mentioned, this is a "push it once to turn on, push it again to turn off". Both the remote switch and the receiver switch work that way. Thats not an issue for the way I use it. Yes, you do have to push a bit hard on the remote switch.. keep pushing until it clicks. (that click is how it generates the power to send the signal to the receiver). Once you have done it a couple times, you know what to expect and its just not an issue. The other thing to pay attention to is the receivers come in two types. One type has 3 wires and needs to be connected to a circuit "neutral" line. The hot and neutral mean the unit is powered by the AC line. The other type does not have the neutral wire. Depending on how your house was wired, there may not be a neutral in the wall box, and in that case you need the one without the neutral wire. It gets its power off of the light circuit itself, and it needs a minimum of a 25 Watt load so there is enough current flowing for it to get its power. Thats probably not an issue, but if you only have one CFL or LED light on that circuit, it might not be enough.Anyway, its not cheap, it seems well made, and it does exactly what I want. And, with a few billion digital codes, its not likely to get turned on in the middle of the night by interference!

Works well
We used this to add a switch to a bedroom. The remote is powered by the movement of the switch itself, so you don't need to worry about replacement batteries. Some may find the programming directions a bit cryptic; you need to "pair" the remote with the receiver when you install it. As others have noted, the included mounting box does not have a back. I was able to securely mount it by putting thin strips of foam wall mounting tape along the edges, but a flat back would've made this easier.I've tried the $20 battery powered remote switches, this is definitely higher quality and more reliable.

WAY overpriced and failed within 3 months. Should have listened to the negative comments on-line. My bad

Setting up a remote switch
So far the programming of the switch is complicated and I've been unsuccessful. I'm waiting on Leviton Support to telephone and walk me thru it.UPDATE: Leviton Tech Support told me the Amazon recommended partner remote switch-WSSOS-POI is the INCORRECT SWITCH. They say I purchased 2 different technologies. I need a "D" on both switches. The partner switch of the WSS10-DI is the WSSOS-D. Now I'm trying to locate the WSSOS-D online somewhere. Amazon does not show it.

The Leviton products looks like very good quality
Note: This product does not have a true 'toggle' operation where you push one end of the rocker to turn the light on, and the other end to turn the light off. If you look closely at the picture, only one end of the rocker actually moves and you have to push this one end both to turn the light on and off. Leviton sells a true toggle switch (WSS0S-D0) but its quite a bit more. Amazon carries this switch, but you have to specifically search for it. The Leviton products looks like very good quality.

High quality, works every time. 4 years and going strong!
I toyed with the idea of buying the cheaper $30 variations of wireless switches, but I really liked the NO BATTERIES idea of this one. I'm also quite tired of buying the cheapest version of a product only to find the manufacturer doesn't have any interest in quality and would actually prefer the product break in a short time so you would throw it away and buy another one. Even so, it was hard coughing up the cash for this model, but I am SO GLAD I did.I've used it now for about 3 months and I love it. When pressing the switch (it operates like a firm push-click button), it switches the light EVERY TIME. I can imagine the cheaper switches "sometimes work, sometimes not," and definitely require regular battery replacement hassle.Although this is "Made in China" like much of our electronics, the construction seems sturdy and should hold up well. Transmission is 100% flawless at about 15 feet away through 1 wall and a metal utensil holder.I love installing something like this ONCE and never thinking about it or tweaking it again. My wife has gotten used to the firm push-click switch and our use of it has faded into obscurity like any other switch in the house.[UPDATE 2013-04] I've now had two of these installed for over a year and have been absolutely delighted with their performance. In the year I've been using them--installed at both ends of our kitchen, so they get heavy use--I have only had the switch not respond to me twice when I clicked it. I estimate I click these switches about 10 times a day. These are performing great. Highly recommended.[UPDATE 2015-01] I still click our two wireless switches every day and marvel at how well they've worked and how good a purchase they were. I see the price has come down almost 50% of what I paid, so these are a no-brainer at $45. INCREDIBLE FEATURES: 1) No batteries--ever. I love that. 2) Reliable as ever. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that. In the thousands of times I've pressed them, they might have missed twice (hasn't occurred since my last update).*** Just awesome, and I truly appreciate a design that is intended to function reliably for years. It's rare these days. ***

Appreciate our electrician telling me about these.
Appreciate our electrician telling me about these. It saved changing out the deck cable from 3C to 4C to place another controlled light between two switched lights
