Chimney Sheep 10 Inch Round Chimney Draught Excluder

I was struggling for long time to find a proper solution to stop wind draught coming from my fireplace and thank God I found this thing! It works brilliantly, completely stopped the draught even on a very windy and stormy day! House is so much warmer in the winter. Recommend!

Bought it for our open fire place, which used to let a huge amount of air in (live in Dublin, very windy almost everyday). The chimney sheep does an amazing job in preventing draughts, amazing really. Plus super easy to install a very sturdy. For such a price is highly recommended!

We have considered adding draught exclusion to our chimney for years. We knew the house was draughty but had been put off by advice that blocking the chimney could cause problems with damp. And we kept convincing ourselves we would use our open fire again at some point. We were attracted to the chimney sheep as it was a natural, breathable material which, hopefully, would avoid the possible damp issues. The chimney sheep has been an absolute revelation. Draughts round the whole house have been virtually eradicated. It is amazing just how much air was being pulled up the chimney. We tend to keep bedroom and bathroom windows open for most of the year so we are never going to be draught free. Even so, the chimney sheep has reduced air circulation even when the windows are open. So why not 5 stars? Mainly because the sheep is a little bit difficult to fit accurately. As you push it up into the chimney opening it tends to fold back on itself which leaves gaps around the sides. Pushing it up through your chimney opening and then pulling it back may work better but we couldn't reach to do it (and it starts to make a mess). After a bit of positioning (and pushing on the edges of the sheep with a blunt object to get it into place) we got it to fit. It is worth the effort required for the draught reduction achieved.

Much better than a chimney balloon, as they deflate and don't fit. I have a fireplace 16inches wide (at the front widest part), and approx 12 inches at the back. I bought the 10inch diameter draught excluder, which pushes easily up into the chimney through the narrow opening above where the fire goes, then it sits just up the flue. It's brilliant no more cold draughts, and no loss of heating up the chimney. The room is noticeably warmer, then when I want to light the fire it easily pulls out of the flue - just be careful as soot and small debris does collect above it, and can scatter when you pull it out - however because of its thick felt nature, most of the debris settles on the top and doesn't fall off. I then just stand it in a vase beside the fire equipment when not in use. The black handle is just the right length so that your hands don't get dirty, and you can see it so don't forget that it's there and light a fire! This is a fantastic item and must pay for itself in saving on the heating bills alone!

I am very pleased with our chimney sheeps. We ordered 4 of them for the 2 fireplaces in our dining room and 2 in our lounge (big old period style rooms). I noticed the change in temperature very soon and we don't get the wind noises any more, this was noticeable during the recent storm. They were very easy to insert and because of the stick hanging down they won't be forgotten when we want to use our fires. Its also reassuring to know that because they are made of natural fibres they are breathable and allow ventilation to stop damp problems. I would definitely recommend this product.

Good product and does the job as advertised. However a bit pricey for what you get. They could have at least thrown in a few extension rods for that price. Advise anyone to just tie a long string to the handle so you can see it installed. Don't really need to buy spare extension rods in most cases. Thanks.

This does exactly what it's supposed to do. Fits perfectly into and sits in flue. Hasn't budged for months and no issue with drafts. It can be easily pulled out to light the fire and popped back in once it's cooled down. It's a bit more expensive than a balloon but far better value for money. Its sturdy - it won't pop, and can be easily removed and replaced when you want to light a fire.

Bought the 10 inch version, the smaller 8 inch would have been better. The larger size bends sideways in the chimney flue and does not seal properly. It took a lot of adjustment to get it fitted correctly The chain could be a lot remind you it has been fitted
