A must-have book with scrumptious recipes from the world-famous Ladurée tea shop. Reveals the secrets of their savoury recipes for the first time ever The story of Ladurée started in 1862 when Louis Ernest Ladurée opened a bakery in the heart of Paris at 16, rue Royale. In 1872, following a fire, the little bakery became a pastry shop and the decoration was then done by Jules Cheret, a famous painter and poster-designer of the time. Jeanne Souchard, Ernest Ladurée's wife, then had the idea of combining the Parisian café with a pastry-shop. She therefore created one of Paris' first tearooms. In 1993 Ladurée was bought by Francis and David Holder and became one of the best-known gourmet addresses in Paris, a veritable institution with its famous "macaron" as its emblem. In 1997 Ladurée opened a tea-room/restaurant on the prestigious Champs-Elysées, followed by another in the Printemps department store and on the Left Bank as well as the beginning of their international adventure with branches in London, Geneva, Monaco and Tokyo. In this book Michel Lerouet, the Chef at Ladurée, reveals 100 of the most famous Ladurée recipes, adapted for the general public. From duck foie gras with rose macaroon to vegetable tagliatelles with Ladurée tea and cardamom, as well as the taramasalata éclair with rose petals, the Chef presents us with an entire artist's pallet of appetizers, main courses, fish, meat, salads, omelettes... All with the Ladurée quality and creativity. Review: Gorgous Book and Great Recipes - I am recently back from Paris with my girlfriend and one of the many bakeries and cafes we visited was Ladurée. In my opinion Ladurée is one of the best in Paris and definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of macaroons. They sell this book in the shop but it is written in French but this version is written entirely in English. I am a passionate cook and but a lot of cook books but this one is by far the most attractive one I have bought or even seen. The book comes in a box in typically Ladurée design and when you open the box you find the cover and back is made of padded material. The edges of the book is also that gold way you see on lots of old or expensive books. Inside the book contains the recipes for pretty much most of the items on the Ladurée menu. I have not conducted an identical comparison but we recognised most of the cakes and pastries from the shop counter and the book even has the recipe for the hot chocolate that we had for breakfast. Each recipe has a beautiful accompanying picture but the steps are a bit less descriptive than the likes you will find in the mainstream celebrity chef books but for someone that has a solid grounding in cooking they should suffice. Due to its feminine looks the book will make an excellent present for your girlfriend/wife/mum etc. but similarly it has not stopped me getting stuck into the recipes. Great book, 5 stars Review: Just pure quality from the packaging to the recipes - Laduree's Sucre comes packaged in a replica of their famous macaron box, and it looked so similar that I actually had people in my office thinking I had a rather large box of macarons! The writers or translators of Laduree have done a fabulous job transferring the opulence of their tea salons into this recipe book. With it's mouth watering pastry pictures, velvety pistachio green cover and gold gilded pages, this book is a little work of art. There are oodles of recipes in it. Everything from Vanilla Eclairs and Strawberry Napoleons to Raspberry and Rose Sundae's and of course - their famous macarons A few samples of the mouth watering offerings: Chestnut Barquettes Rose Cream Puffs Pistachio Salambos Roasted Pineapple Tart All Chocolate Tart Upside Down Apple Tarts Chocolate Mousse Pistachio Sour Cherry Verrines Lemon Cake Cherry Calfoutis The variety is endless...... There are several recipes included from their infamous macarons, but my past history of macaron making has been a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they turn out beautifully, and sometimes they don't. I have no idea why. So for now, I'll try my hand at making a few other Paris pastries from the book and stick to buying my macarons from Laduree. Speaking of which - each year Laduree partners with one (sometimes more) famous fashion brands to design and release a limited edition macaron box. This year Laduree has partnered up with famed Gibraltarian fashion designer John Galliano, and I must say the box is absolutely gorgeous. Last month I popped into the Dubai branch of Laduree and picked one up. I couldn't help but rush down there the day after they were released so I could get a hold of one. In case you don't know - I'm a bit obsessed with collecting Laduree Macaron boxes. The limited edition John Galliano box is available in Laduree stores now.

OMG
I know this has already received some rave reviews - but I was not quite prepared for the sheer beauty of this amazing little book. The packaging has been described in detail and it is just wonderful. The embossed and gilded box opens up to a delicate lilac tissue paper cradling the soft green suede-effect covered book. Just on the presentation alone, you can tell this is a very special piece of work. The recipes are detailed but not daunting. The text clear and precise. The photography tempting. Is this a book that I will ever take into the kitchen to work from? NO! I will copy out any recipe that I want to recreate (and there are many) and keep the book in as pristine a condition as possible. If you have a friend who loves baking or Paris - buy this book. If you love beautiful objects - this book should be part of your collection. If, like me, you are someone who loves Paris, Baking and Beauty - then don't delay. (I am not usually this effusive in my reviews - but this really did blow me away... if I had the money, I would be on the Eurostar to sample the real thing from the Laduree shop!)

Charming Book
The book is beautifully packaged and bound, and the photos are a delight, but only show the finished product; so no step-by-step photos, which means you will need some level of proficiency to understand the techniques they describe. Some have purchased this book for a coffee-table display; I, however, don't mind getting it covered in flour, sugar and other such ingredients. Some buffoon had this priced at over $400 when I was purchasing it, and I bought it from the UK as other reviewers instructed for around 40 GBP. Turns out that now the same book is available on the US Amazon site for around $26...eh...win some and you lose some. Shipping from the UK to the US was a breeze, and I received the book within 10 days or so. Overall...Great Book!

Lovely presentation, perfect for a gift.
I think this book is very nicely presented and while I may not try all the recipes in it, the recipes that I have tried all worked perfectly. The recipes are easy to follow and there are also useful tips on presentation and preparation etc.. The beautiful way the book is presented and it's size makes it very easy to use and would also make it a lovely gift for someone special.

Beyond expectations
I thought this was going to be a tiny pamphlet of how to make macarnos but it's so much more. First of all; it comes delivered in a beautiful box and then a further layer of purple tissue paper. The cover is smooth and the pages are golden to royal perfection. There are countless recipes on various pastries and hot drinks. I can't wait to try them out. For those who aren't too familiar with cups and ounces, it's been written with grams as well. If that isn't enough to make you purchase it then nothing will.

Best gift ever..
This is a beautifully packaged book. An ideal gift for anyone. It's expensive for what is literally a book on french baking, but I think you are paying the gold gilded edges and the superiorly bounded book. It's exquisite and very fine, rather much like the quality of patisserie sold at Laduree. I would recommend this for anyone who values fine food and who'd like to show it off to friends and family and show them what a fine sophisticated palette you have! :-) The pictures are lovely inside the book, and the recipes are clearly written including both in Grams and Cups measurements. But I wouldn't take this into the kitchen in case it gets soiled -it would be like taking your iPad into the bath! You'll enjoy this both as a gift to someone else or as a treat for yourself.

Very luxurious, delicious recipes and enjoyable to read
The cookbook comes wrapped in a pretty and sturdy Laduree box, complete with tissue paper. The book itself has a padded velvet cover with gilded page edges and is truly beautiful, as are all the illustrations. It is not for beginners because the directions assume that the cook is acquainted with certain procedures, but if you a reasonably experienced baker, you will enjoy making a lot of the recipes. Some are quite complex but there are many that do not take all that much time and turn out truly impressive. I have tried the Creme Brulee with Orange Flower Water, the Strawberry Mascarpone Tart, the Cherry Clafouti and the Rice Pudding, all of which are easy and delicious. I have also made the Intensely Chocolate Cake which turned out spectacular but took quite a long time to make. This is definitely a special occasion cake. I am looking forward to trying a number of other recipes but not all because some call for ingredients that are not easily available in my area. As mentioned in my title, it is fun to just look through the book and read the recipes.... they remind me so much of Paris. I am happy to have it.

Für Teeliebhaber, Laduree-Fans, Coffee table book-Enthusiasten, Freunde des guten Geschmacks
Hervorragend. Insgesamt 5*.

This is the real deal - worth every penny!
I bought this book on the hopes that they had my single favorite recipe that I've had at Laduree: Vol au vent. I was happy to find that it did. Following their detailed instructions, I made the dish immediately and can verify that it was indeed authentic (tasted exactly like the one I had at their Covent Garden, London location). In my opinion, it was worth every penny for this recipe alone. I haven't tried any others yet, but the ones I've read have excellent tips and tricks and sound simply delectable. The other pleasant surprise was the quality of the book. The image shown here is just the heavy-duty cardboard box that it comes in. The book itself is inside, and the hard cover is wrapped in purple velvet. Furthermore, the pages are heavy-duty and the edges of the pages are silver foiled, with full color pictures of each dish. It is absolutely beautiful and represents the exceptional quality you expect from anything that comes from Laduree.

Regalo seguro
La presentación es brutal. Un regalo muy acertado para una repostera con muchas ganas. No soy el que sabe del tema pero diría que hay recetas y ganas de experimentar para rato.
