First ever vinyl release for this landmark meeting between these two blues giants! This is the only known recording of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan performing together - the greatest blues summit of all time. With each musician spurning the other to greater heights, this 1983 live recording sounds as exciting on each subsequent listening as it does the very first time through. Lineup: Albert King-electric guitar, vocalStevie Ray Vaughan-electric guitar, vocal, Tony Llorens-piano, organ, Gus Thornton-bass, Michael Llorens-drums. Recorded December 6, 1983 at CHCH Studios, Hamilton, Ontario. Stereo recording. Tracks: Call It Stormy Monday, Old Times, Pride And Joy, Turn It Over, Ask Me No Questions, Who Is Stevie?, Blues at Sunrise. Review: Masters of the Guitar - It was by accident that I stumbled on this CD, I was viewing a clip on U-tube and came across Albert King in session with Stevie Ray Vaughan. I did read some research on these guitar giants, and it was sad that both these jazz players are no longer with us. But the fruit is still ripe and the music is just electrifying and fresh as though it was produced just recently. I have gained some knowledge about these players and it is a joy and privilege that can purchase this music and experience the masterpiece of these great jazz guitarists. For those who really appreciate the art of jazz, I highly recommend that you purchase this album. Review: Excellent - They compliment each other so well. Brilliant.

A great album just too short
Love this album two brilliant performers just loving playing. Bought it after seeing it on you tube but the album leaves me wanting more. I hope they bring out a second one with the tracks that didn't make it onto this one. The sound is excellent I was a little apprehensive since it was a TV special I think, but not disappointed at all. I would Highly recommend for your SRV/Blues collection.

There is a god
Two genuine greats getting together at the height of their powers to make quite brilliant music. These are classic, thumping blues tracks where the guitars siiiing - the two great men feeding off of each other and simply revelling in their powers and shared enjoyment. Typical tracks are 8 minutes plus and could simply roll along forever if they'd been allowed - there's so much talent to squeeze in. If you like supreme electric guitar playing, heavy blues, or even that jazz vibe of a tight-knit group flowing together in perfection, then you'll revel in this. And the recording is bright and true, with that raw edge you get with a 'live' experience. For the money, this is a ridiculous feast. Try the last track - "Don't Lie to Me" and just listen to that amazing bass riff and hammond organ drive which then allows Stevie and Albert to work their magic on top. Supreme. No wonder Albert can't resist breaking into a chuckle half way through - can it possibly get any better?

I first discovered this album via streaming (Tidal), and loved it so much that I wanted to add it to my vinyl collection. Worth noting, however, is that the vinyl format of this album lacks a few tracks that are available on streaming services. While a bit disappointing, I don't believe this detracts too much from the overall album - it's still an extremely satisfying listen all the way through sides A and B. Timeless music and unbelievable musicianship aside, this is a great pressing as well. High-quality, well-pressed, and QUIET. Great black background and nice dynamics. The record really helps convey the feeling of a live performance better than streaming does. If you're on the fence about this album, hop off. Buy it already, and you won't regret it.
